Married to the loveless CEO-Chapter 86: F*cking backstabber
"Gentlemen, there is really no need for all these. We all know Logan hasn’t failed or disappointed us before. This will also be a piece of cake for him," the woman in the group, Anita Manchester, tried to intervene.
"Very well," one of the men responded.
"Then I guess this meeting is adjourned," Logan said and stood up.
He was about eleven years old when the Preston family adopted him. At that time, Mr. and Mrs Preston, who had the leading seal of the Prestons’ mafia family, were close friends with Logan’s parents.
Logan was an only child and was adopted by Mr. and Mrs Preston when his parents died in a plane crash, Logan decided to bear their surname instead. They treated him well like their own though they also did have two children, a boy and a girl that treated Logan like their very own big brother.
When the whole family was massacre by some assassins, Logan was in his early twenties. He had been with Fi the whole time on that very day, they were drinking and it was as if Fi was trying to stall him from going home. He couldn’t fight for his family, couldn’t die with them, couldn’t say goodbye.
He was the leader of the mafia family and syndicate group now because he was the first to find the leader’s seal, this vexed his uncles to no end and when Logan asked for Fi’s help in avenging his family’s death, Fi refused to lend him any help.
It gave Logan the impression that Fi or his father maybe, might have a hand in the assassination of his family. But why he hasn’t taken another action towards them was because one- Why did they spare him? And two, because he had lost out in the first confrontation and the Lees denied of having anything to do with it.
And that is why up till now, the man he once considered a friend has become nothing to him but...
A f*cking backstabber!
...
Finland was so missing Sentencia, because of the pending business deal with the foreigners, he has been so busy to see her, but he manages to call her whenever he gets the chance.
This business deal was huge, worth over ten billion and he heard the Prestons had their eyes on it too.
Scoff, they should know they are at the losing end when compared to the Lees.
"Shall we?" Caleb inquired.
"Yes," Fi replied, they wanted to go cool off at a casino.
"Alright! I’m really looking forward to winning some losing asses today," Jace chimed in.
They got into their car and drove off to one of their favorite casinos, it was the most popular in Central City, Asteria. They didn’t bring extra men with them, they weren’t expecting any trouble and even if there were any, the trio could handle it.
They got there and after a gambling table was secured for them at the VIP section of the casino. They started playing the card game with some other VIP gambling pro and lords.
"We won again!" Jace beamed when Fi won the game for the third time.
"I raise," a voice announced and all eyes went to the owner of the voice.
Logan Preston! ’Talk about not expecting any trouble,’ Fi thought.
"Raise what?" Fi asked mockingly.
Then Logan sat on one of the chairs, what he was raising was brought in front of him and it was worth hundreds of thousands.
Fi smirked, finally some challenge.
"I’m all in," Fi replied pushing forward his too, which was worth about the same. No one else were able to call the bid of both men and so they backed off.
The poker cards were shuffled and shared among the men. Fi couldn’t help but smile when he saw his, he has always been really lucky when it comes to poker.
The cards were put forward and Fi won. Logan felt a migraine pop up at his temple, Fi’s laughter irk him even more.
"Again!"
They continued and Logan won the second time, he felt a sense of satisfaction and narcissism.
And it made him call for the third time where he lost out to Fi.
"Finland," Fi heard Logan call when they were at the driveway below, about to enter the car to drive off.
Fi turned towards him, he was all alone but had a gun pointed at Fi. Fi scoffed, he stopped Jace and Caleb from interfering.
"With the way you follow me around, I might think you are in love with me, Logan," Fi’s lips pulled up in a smirk when Logan scowled at him.
"Stop spouting nonsense!" he responded.
"It’s true, you can’t live without me, can’t go a day without seeing me-"
"I despise you with all that I’ve got. Do you know how much I really want to blow out that filthy brain of yours?" Logan cuts Fi off.
"Go ahead, I dare you...If you can," Fi smirked as Logan gritted his perfect white teeth at him.
Fi soon kicked off the gun from him, it flew to the other side of the driveway.
"How about a duel? Right now, right here," Logan suggested.
"I have better things to do, I have a multi billion deal to seal," Fi waved his success at his face.
It riled up Logan more, "With a bet that you will leave both Sentencia Norman and the deal to me,"
Fi would never make a bet over Sentencia, but this was also a way to make Logan stay clear from her.
"And you will do same if I win," Fi stated, Caleb walked over to Fi.
"Boss, I don’t think this is either the right place or time for this," but Fi gave him a hand signal to back off.
He did and soon, the duo began to fight. It was intense as both were pros.
"Why-Is-It so hard for you to get over your grudge?!" Fi questioned in between combat.
"I already told you...The Lees had nothing to do with it," he added dodging an attack from Logan.
"And you think I should believe that?!" Logan responded, a kick from Fi sent him falling on his behind, but he stood up almost immediately. The men circled each other, waiting cautiously on who will attack first.
"As long as you don’t have any evidence justifying yourself, don’t expect me to take your words. It all makes sense, put together, well planned.
"You tried so hard to stall me, intoxicating me more with alcohol. But what I would like to know is why? Why did you do it? What did we ever do to you? You were a friend and I trusted you!" Logan expressed, attacking Fi first in anger.
"I really don’t need any evidence nor do I have to answer your whys, because I wasn’t responsible. It was all a f*cking coincidence!" Fi replied, his eyes caught the shone of metal just in time, but the dagger still left a small line of cut on his handsome face.
Fi pushed him away from him, "I forgot how much you loved blades,"
"Ha, that’s the difference between us Finland. I fight dirty, how was your last stab?" Logan laughed, recalling the last occurrence, he was the one who had stabbed Fi, but Fi hadn’t noticed at first with all the bustle and angry intensive tension that day.
Logan continued to swing his dagger at Fi who dodged it skillfully and finally, Fi was able to collect the dagger from him- Knocking him down to the ground again. Logan couldn’t stand up immediately this time as Fi had him by the throat with his own dagger.
"You should be grateful to me that fate made me stall you from your early demise. Now, I only have one thing to tell you because..." Fi trails off, a sardonic grin began to form on his lips.
"I already sealed the deal," he added. What? So he was just fighting him even though he had already sealed the deal with the foreigners. Was he joking? Trying to make him back off maybe?
"Stay away from Sentencia!" Fi continued, he stood up tossing the dagger away as he too began to walk away towards the car.
He lost! This was way too humiliating for Logan.
"Even if you weren’t responsible. I needed your help to avenge them, but you didn’t offer any...At the time when I needed you most," he told and Fi halted but didn’t turn to face him.
"I... couldn’t give any help at that time, I really wanted to but my hands were tied," he tried not to involve his dad in his statement as he was the reason Fi couldn’t help, though... Logan also despises his father.
"It’s been a long time, Logan. I know it isn’t easy but just let go of things that only causes you pain," Fi concluded and got into the car, the other duo joined him and they drove off.
Logan left too, to the safehouse.
News really travels fast and far...
"The Lees have already sealed the deal! You stupid incompetent boy! I knew you couldn’t handle this, you don’t deserve to remain leader-"
Silence followed, after a gun shot was heard in the large study room.
