Chapter 218: Perverted husband

"Hmm," he hummed, looking down at her. "It’s the same, only I mixed it with another medicine."

"No wonder it works quicker than the first day I took it at the inn. I think I should put this in some closed container and always carry it with me," she said thoughtfully. "When I took it, I felt so much better... and I can feel something moving in my stomach, like a bubbling sensation..."

She pulled back a bit to touch her stomach just as the movement came again.

"It’s like something is wobbling inside me. Could it be the baby?" she asked in wonderment.

She looked up at Rohan with winded eyes at the thought of feeling her unborn child inside her at this early stage where the pregnancy was just a small little bump in her lower abdomen. She saw as Rohan’s eyes went to her stomach as well, and his big hand covered hers over it as a small smile pulled at his lips.

"That’s why I told you, demons grow faster than any creature in the womb. It’s the baby, it’s happy about the medicine you just took." He stroked his hand over her stomach, caressing it lovingly. "I can feel its heartbeat. It rhymes with yours, making it sound strange."

He couldn’t believe how he had missed the baby’s heartbeat and mistaken it for hers in the first place. Now that he thought about it, he realized he hadn’t suspected she was pregnant because the second heartbeat had been so faint and weak, but now, it was clearer than ever that she carried two heartbeats.

Belle looked fascinated by this, and she looked at her husband and asked, "How long does one carry the child for, is it the same as humans?"

He shook his head. "It depends on when the baby chooses to come out. Normal demons are born within five months of being conceived, and some longer—up to fifteen months. But this baby is not just demon, it’s part human and vampire as well. We can’t be sure when it will choose to want to see the world. We just have to make sure that when it starts to hear the outside noise, we let it know that it shouldn’t be difficult like its father had been," Rohan said with emphasis, just in case the baby could hear him—as he knew it wasn’t far-fetched for it to hear.

"Don’t hurt my wife for me, if you can hear me. She’s a lovely woman who’s going to love you so much until you’re filled with it. Don’t let her get hurt in any way before you’re born."

Belle watched her husband with a smile playing on her face as she couldn’t believe he was talking to her flat stomach, but the words he said brought a swell of tenderness to her heart, and she found herself reaching out to stroke his hair as he stroked her stomach.

"I don’t think it’s old enough to hear, I am only two months pregnant," she remarked with a chuckle, to have Rohan narrow his eyes at her stomach.

"I could hear my mother as early as a month. It can hear me now. It’s good I talk to it and make it understand that I do not want you hurt in any way," he said, his eyes on the stomach as he hoped their child was hearing him to understand what its mother meant to him.

He did not know what he would do if it turned out that their child would hurt her, like he had unintentionally hurt his mother because she did not understand him. He did not want to have any reason to dislike his own flesh and blood, and so he would try his possible best to make sure this child would never give him such reasons—and such reasons could only arise if it hurt his wife.

"Be an obedient little angel and be good to mama..."

Belle could not believe it was possible for the baby to hear them, but then she wasn’t carrying just any baby, and she found herself looking down at her stomach where Rohan’s hand covered the bump. Now that she thought about it, had this baby been a human baby, she was certain it wouldn’t have survived all the things she had gone through in the past month.

There were days she did not eat for a whole day because of her worry for her husband, and there were times she barely slept. No wonder the pains were intense. But now that she knew of her pregnancy, she would do everything in her power to protect their child.

A thought suddenly crossed her mind. What would her parents think if they knew she had abandoned her mission and fallen in love with her husband—and was also expecting his child? As much as she wanted to close the Chapter of her life in Aragonia completely, there was no turning away from it entirely, as the Dawsons were still her family, and if word got out of her betrayal, it was only a matter of time before the king made sure she paid for it with her life.

The thought brought a shudder to her spine, but she quickly dismissed it. They wouldn’t know where to find her even if they heard about it. She wouldn’t think about them—she would focus on her new family.

She watched Rohan as he talked away to the baby inside her, believing that the child could hear him, and for some reason, she had a feeling it could indeed hear.

"Your hair’s growing longer, Rohan," Belle pointed out as she touched her hand to the length of it that now reached his neck, with disheveled strands around his face.

"I plan to get it cut but I haven’t gotten onto doing it." Since the moment he had woken up, it had been from this to that, and he did not have time to trim his hair that was growing longer faster than anything.

"If you want, I can help you trim it after breakfast, how about that?" Belle suggested, to have him look at her with amusement. "Does my wife know how to trim hair?"

Belle pursed her lips as she nodded her head. "Yes, I learned to do it when I used to cut my bangs and trim my hair. I know how your hairstyle was before, I can get it right if you can trust me with your hair."

Rohan chuckled, the sound deep and rich, as he reached his hand to touch her hair that had also grown longer than it was before. Her hair had always been beautiful, and he couldn’t help but imagine what it would look like if she had nothing on but her hair falling down her rounded breasts.

"I trust you with my life. What is my hair that I cannot trust you with it, Sweetheart? You can do whatever pleases you with it, I’m all yours from head to toe." He whispered the words into her ear, his warm breath tickling her earlobe and causing her toes to involuntarily curl up under the covers.

"Then I will cut it for you after we eat," Belle decided, her voice sounding breathless even to her own ears as he was so close to her she could feel his breath against her neck.

"It’s decided then. But I also want something, Isa." He whispered into the crook of her neck, where his lips were kissing wetly.

"What is it?" she asked, moving her head to give him more access to her neck.

"Do you recall that day we scheduled for me to paint you?" he asked, and without waiting for her reply, he said, "I want to paint you, only I will do it when our child has begun to show. I will like to make you into my greatest art, with your long gold hair pouring down your swollen breasts and stomach. I want you in nothing but your hair, and this necklace," he said, fingering the pendant of the diamond necklace he had given to her.

Belle could barely find her voice as she was so lost in the hypnotizing whisper of his seductive, low, deep voice in her ears.

"I... I haven’t begun to show yet..." she pointed out.

He smiled against her skin. "That’s why I am saying we should schedule it now. I want your agreement on it so I can start looking forward to the day I will make the painting. Do you agree, my lovely bunny? Don’t worry about payment, I won’t charge you much for the painting. You can pay me with your body."

Belle gasped at him, his words snapping her out of the world his seductive whispers had taken her into.

"Payment? Why should I have to pay for the painting?"

"Because paintings are expensive, my dear. They cost a lot, and you don’t think I will paint you for free, do you?" He pinched the tip of her nose as he clicked his tongue. "Even if you are my wife, I will take payment."

Belle wanted to point out the fact that she couldn’t pay with her body in her current condition, but swallowed the words, believing he knew and was joking. She did not know much about pregnancy and what needs to be done, but from her theory, she believed a pregnant woman shouldn’t get together with her husband in such condition or it might harm the child.

Not to mention, the doctor had said she was at risk of miscarriage, Belle thought—unaware that what she felt was not a miscarriage, but only the baby wanting blood.

Why make love when a seed had already taken root? She did not think that other pregnant women did that, did they? She glared at her perverted husband who was seducing her with his little feathery kisses on her skin and pulled back, pursing her lips. And before he could charm her into his little scheme to make her pay for the painting with her body, she pushed at his head and spoke.

"I am hungry," she muttered. "We should go and eat."

Rohan pulled back from her neck, smiling. "Of course, we should go and eat. I will take my payment another time." He moved back and gathered her from his lap to his arms and then swiftly got down from the bed and made his way out of the chamber, grinning to himself.
