Chapter 113: Chapter 113: You Can’t Even Compare to a Single Strand of Seraphina Thorne’s Hair (Part 1)

In front of the security check channel.

The staff processed Seraphina’s ticket and handed it along with her documents to her.

"Have a pleasant journey."

Seraphina thanked them, took the ticket, and prepared to enter the security check channel with her violin.

"Seraphina!"

Ethan Sterling rushed over and grabbed her arm before she entered the security check channel, pulling her aside.

"What on earth is going on? You don’t answer my calls, and you booked the ticket without telling me?"

"Don’t touch me with your dirty hands."

Seraphina frowned and shook off his hand, turning to walk toward the security check channel.

"Seraphina!" Ethan ran up and blocked her with his arm, "If I did something wrong, just tell me, okay? Don’t be like this, Seraphina..."

"You didn’t do anything wrong." Seraphina took a deep breath, trying hard to control her emotions, "It’s my mistake, I shouldn’t trust any man anymore."

"What are you talking about, can you be clearer?" Ethan’s face was full of helplessness, "At least... give me a chance to explain?"

"Explain?"

Seraphina started laughing, a bitter laugh filled her heart.

"The so-called explanation is just using more lies to cover up the previous lies, isn’t it?"

Ethan stretched out his hand to hold her shoulder.

"It’s not like that, Seraphina, I know there are things I haven’t been entirely truthful about, but..."

"Don’t touch me!"

Seraphina finally couldn’t hold it in, violently shaking off his arm.

Due to her excessive force, her violin fell heavily to the floor.

Ethan hurried over to help pick up the violin.

"I know, it’s definitely my fault. I apologize. Can we talk about this, can you not catch this flight? Let’s sit down somewhere and discuss this properly, okay?"

"Ethan, don’t you think you’re too much? Yes, I owe you a favor, I owe you many favors.

You wanted me to marry you, so I did; you wanted Zenith’s shares, I gave them; you wanted to play the love game, so I played along; you had an affair and were with another woman, I could pretend I didn’t see anything...

But I have my dignity, and you can’t trample on it like this!"

An affair?

Upon hearing those words, Ethan was stunned.

"About last night, it wasn’t what you think, you misunderstood. It was because Chloe was injured, so..."

"Enough!" Seraphina was uninterested in anything he had to say, "I’m done with this game, I’m too tired to keep playing, this is it."

She stepped forward and snatched her violin back from Ethan.

"I will repay the money I owe you, I’ll handle my brother’s case myself, and I’ll send you the divorce agreement after I land!"

She turned around and quickly walked into the security channel.

"Seraphina!"

Ethan chased after her but was stopped by security.

"Sorry, sir, you cannot go in."

Standing outside the security gate, watching Seraphina walk away step by step, disappearing from view.

Ethan wiped his forehead with his hand and sighed deeply.

Buzz—

The phone in his pocket vibrated.

He frowned, pulled out his phone, glanced at Sean Hale’s number on the screen, and answered the call, bringing it to his ear.

"Speak."

"President Sterling, I’ve checked the information you gave me yesterday."

"What’s the result?"

"All the companies stated they haven’t cooperated with Zenith Group, nor have they been involved in the Zenith Apartments project. I investigated, and these are indeed not suppliers of Zenith Group. President Sterling..." Sean hesitated for two seconds, "Where did you get that information from? Is it... fake?"

Ethan furrowed his brows.

If the information is fake, then there are only two possibilities.

Either Adrian Chamberlain intentionally gave the fake information, or Chloe Foster is deceiving him.

"I get it."

Turning his face, he glanced at the tarmac outside the window and walked toward the exit.

"Book me a flight to Elysia for tomorrow and arrange my other work. Tomorrow, come with me to Elysia."

Instructing Sean, Ethan opened the car door, sat in the driver’s seat, and drove the car out of the airport.

He drove back to the Sovereign Villa District, parking directly outside the Foster Villa, and climbed the steps. He knocked heavily on the door.

Nathan Foster answered the door and was slightly startled upon seeing Ethan.

"What’s up?"

"I’m looking for Chloe."

Nathan guessed it might be related to Seraphina and coughed lightly.

"What do you need Chloe for?"

"Brother, who is it?"

Chloe Foster came out of the kitchen with a prepared salad and placed it on the dining room table.

Seeing Ethan at the door, she smiled.

"Ethan, you came just in time, we’ve just finished dinner. Would you like to join us?"

Nathan, feeling helpless, pulled open the door and let Ethan into the living room.

Walking up to Chloe, Ethan spoke in a deep tone.

"Be honest with me, the information you gave me yesterday, where exactly did you get it from?"

"Didn’t I already tell you?" Chloe smiled uneasily, "Why are you standing? Come and sit down, let’s talk as we eat."

She reached out her hand, actively pulling out a chair for Ethan.

"The salad I made has your favorite roasted sesame dressing!"

As she reached for the chair, her wrist was exposed from her clothing, revealing the bracelet.

Noticing the bracelet on her wrist, Ethan’s brow furrowed heavily.

He grabbed Chloe’s arm, looking at the bracelet identical to Seraphina’s, his gaze landed on Chloe’s face.

"Did you say something to Seraphina?"

Seeing him notice the bracelet, a flustered expression flashed in Chloe’s eyes, instinctively she tried to retract her arm.

"Ethan, what... what are you talking about?"

Ethan tightened his fingers, raising her wrist into the air.

"Why do you have a bracelet like this?"

"I... I just thought it was nice, how would I know you gave the same one to Seraphina?" Chloe struggled to retract her arm, "Ethan, you’re hurting me."

No wonder Seraphina was so upset.

Seeing this bracelet, Ethan had already vaguely guessed some of the truth.

"So it was you!"

Ethan shoved Chloe away.

"Chloe Foster, you’re despicable!"

Chloe stepped back, hitting the dining table heavily.

"Chloe!" Nathan rushed over, supporting Chloe’s arm, "Are you okay?"

Chloe shook her head gently.

Nathan pulled her behind him protectively, frowning at Ethan.

"Ethan, calm down. Chloe... she was just confused for a moment."

"Confused for a moment?" Ethan sneered, "Confused for a moment she could hurt Seraphina, do you know what Seraphina has been through?"

The thought of Seraphina alone, sitting on a plane bound for a foreign land, made Ethan’s heart feel as though it was being churned by a cold knife.

"I didn’t mean it like that, I know, this time it’s Chloe’s fault." Nathan apologized, "I’ll personally go to explain to Seraphina, I’ll go to apologize, will that work?"

"Is hurting others something that can be resolved with a single sorry?" Ethan shook his head lightly, "What do you take Seraphina as, what do you take me as?"

Ethan grabbed Nathan’s collar, his eyes filled with disappointment.

"Back then, to save Chloe Foster, I almost lost my life. Nathan Foster, I treated you as a friend, as a brother. I treated your sister like my own sister. Is this how you repay me?"
