Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 160: See You at the Civil Affairs Bureau Entrance at 8 AM Tomorrow! (Part 2)
Seraphina looked surprised, "You know my brother?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"A long time ago..." Zoe lowered her eyes, "When we were abroad, we attended the same design academy; he was in the architecture department, I was in jewelry design."
Seraphina nodded, "I see."
Zoe twisted the bottle of mineral water in her hand and raised her face, "Actually, I just returned to the country recently and heard about your brother’s case. I heard you all seem to be trying to overturn it. How is it going?"
"Well..." Seraphina gently shook her head, "We had a hearing before, which didn’t go too smoothly. The lawyer is handling the specifics; I’m not quite sure myself."
Given they were from the Sterling Family, Seraphina was naturally cautious and wouldn’t directly reveal the truth.
Zoe noticed her hesitation, "You don’t need to be nervous. I have no other intentions, just an old classmate checking in."
Standing up, she took one of her own business cards and handed it to Seraphina.
"This is my business card with my phone number. If there’s anything you need from me, feel free to call anytime."
"Thank you, Miss Sterling." Seraphina took the card, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back now?"
"Alright, I’ll see you off."
"No need. You’re busy, I can find my way out."
With a violin in hand, Seraphina stood up, nodded at her, and walked out of the lounge towards the elevator.
The elevator had just arrived on the floor, and as the doors were about to close, Seraphina jogged a few steps with her violin.
"Wait!"
A hand reached out and blocked the elevator doors.
The closing doors reopened.
Seraphina quickly stepped into the elevator and turned to thank the person.
Seeing who was inside, the thank-you she was about to utter got stuck in her throat.
The one who blocked the elevator door for her was none other than Ethan Sterling.
Today was his first time at Sterling, taking over work here. Ethan had been familiarizing himself with the work content, and this was why he was leaving only now.
Seeing Seraphina walk into the elevator with a violin, he was equally surprised.
"Seraphina, why... are you here?"
"Oh..." Seraphina adjusted her tone, "The jewelry launch event at Sterling. Our orchestra came for a performance, I’m here for rehearsal."
Ethan nodded lightly, noticing her somewhat pale complexion; he wanted to speak but swallowed his words.
Seraphina stepped back and stood at the other side of the elevator, holding her violin, wanting to ask about the company’s situation but thought better of it.
With her current status, what right did she have to ask about these things?
A man and a woman, each with their own thoughts, tacitly fell silent.
Ding—
The elevator arrived at a floor.
"I’ll be leaving now."
Feeling flustered for a moment, Seraphina exited the elevator anxiously without checking the floor, only to find herself in the underground parking lot.
Bumping into Ethan made her momentarily nervous, forgetting to press a floor button, resulting in her arriving at the parking lot with Ethan.
Realizing she’d exited on the wrong level, she turned to go back, only to bump into Ethan exiting the elevator.
They almost collided, causing Seraphina to hastily stop.
Ethan guessed she had made a mistake and coughed lightly.
"It’s not easy to get a cab here, why don’t I give you a lift?"
"No need, taking the subway is pretty convenient."
Subway?
At this hour, it’s rush hour.
The area is full of office buildings, so it’s easy to imagine how packed the subway is right now.
With her being so delicate and fragile, getting on could be a problem.
Instinctively, Ethan extended his arm to block her, finding an excuse.
"Regarding the divorce details, I wanted to discuss them with you."
Hearing the mention of their divorce, Seraphina couldn’t refuse anymore.
"Well... thank you."
"Let’s go. My car is over there."
Ethan naturally took her violin and led the way ahead.
Seraphina followed behind him, gazing at his tall back, feeling a lump in her throat.
Even though she had decided inwardly to let go, seeing him again still made her inevitably sad.
At the car side, Ethan reached out to open the passenger door for her.
"Hop in!"
Seraphina thanked him and got in, fastening her seatbelt.
Ethan sat in the driver’s seat, started the car, and drove into traffic.
Traffic was a bit congested; it was stop-and-go.
Usually not prone to motion sickness, Seraphina found herself uncontrollably nauseous this time. Raising her hand to cover her lips, she coughed lightly to mask it.
Hearing her cough, Ethan turned his face.
"Are you okay?"
Seraphina shook her head lightly, unscrewing the bottle of mineral water to drink a large gulp, suppressing the nausea.
"I’ll be free during the day these coming days. Whenever you want to process the paperwork, just call. For the house and car transfers, I’ll cooperate with you. As agreed, I’ll give you 3% of Zenith’s shares, and you’ll continue managing the remaining 7% for now. Anything else you require?"
"I don’t want your shares. If you trust me, I can help you manage them." Ethan deliberated briefly, "Due to issues on the company’s end, my funds are all currently frozen. The house and car will remain in your name for now. In case I go bankrupt, at least I won’t be left without a place to stay."
If Ethan’s company couldn’t weather this storm, he might face bankruptcy.
Leaving these assets under her name would provide him a fallback in the future.
Seraphina guessed his intention and nodded.
"Is it Adrian Chamberlain who reported your company?"
The news had made it clear that Ethan’s company underwent investigation due to allegations of illegal stock price manipulation.
Connecting to the prior car accident, it’s easy for Seraphina to presume Ethan’s company was also maliciously reported.
Ethan turned into the neighborhood where Ivy Langley rented, parking downstairs.
"Don’t overthink it; this incident has nothing to do with Adrian Chamberlain and doesn’t concern you either."
Again, silence filled the car.
The halted traffic ahead finally began moving.
The car exited the loop and drove into Ivy’s neighborhood.
Realizing this stretch was soon ending.
Seraphina raised her face, glancing sideways at Ethan driving, and secretly clenched her molars, striving to sound indifferent and calm.
"If you have time tomorrow, let’s go to the civil affairs office and process it, shall we?"
Prolonged agony is worse than a short one.
Rather than dragging on, it’s better to divorce early and decisively.
Ethan steadied the wheel, watching the traffic ahead, silent for a few seconds.
"Alright."
"Eight o’clock in the morning, let’s meet at the civil affairs office!"
The moment the words left her lips, Seraphina realized how familiar they sounded.
Then, suddenly, Seraphina remembered.
He had said the same words to her once.
Only then, it was for marriage; this time, for divorce!
Thinking of this, her heart felt as if pierced hard by a red-hot needle, excruciatingly painful.
She opened the car door, lifted her violin, exited it, bit her lip, and walked into the apartment building without looking back.
