Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Ethan Sterling’s Methods: Dog-Eat-Dog

An hour later, Adrian Chamberlain arrived at Felicity Shaw’s apartment.

He was greeted by a table full of food and Felicity’s warm demeanor.

"No matter what’s going on, let’s eat something first."

Felicity pulled him to the dining table and sat him down, personally pouring him a drink.

"Things don’t always go smoothly in life, but I believe with your skills, you can definitely surpass Ethan Sterling."

Adrian held the glass, gulping the alcohol down, his face somber and silent.

Observing his expression, Felicity poured him more wine.

"You haven’t forgotten that you still have a trump card, have you?"

"What trump card?" Adrian asked, puzzled, raising his face.

"Caleb Thorne?" Felicity smiled while massaging his shoulders, "Didn’t you work together on that previous project? You must have evidence that proves Caleb’s innocence, right?"

At the mention of Caleb, Adrian turned defensively, grabbing Felicity’s arm.

"Why are you asking this?"

"I’m helping you, of course," Felicity looked aggrieved, "After all these years, don’t you know if I’m sincere about you? Seraphina has always been close to her brother, and if you have evidence proving Caleb’s innocence, won’t Seraphina have no choice but to listen to you obediently?"

"Stop talking nonsense." Adrian released her, "Caleb designed that project, the building collapse is also his doing. How could I have evidence of his innocence?"

Felicity wanted to say more, but Adrian irritably waved her off.

"I don’t want to hear you mention Seraphina’s name again."

"Alright, alright, I won’t mention it. Come on... drink!"

Felicity refilled Adrian’s glass, watching as he started to get a bit tipsy, she got up to help him to the bedroom.

"Actually, you don’t need to worry about losing to Ethan Sterling."

"I said, no mentioning their names!" Adrian grabbed her throat, pressing her onto the bed, "Is this what you want, to get beaten again?"

"Adrian, I didn’t mean it that way..." Felicity hurriedly pleaded, "I just wanted to say if you gain the support of Vice Mayor Donovan, how can Ethan Sterling compete with you?"

At the mention of Diane Dawson, Adrian loosened his grip.

Felicity glanced at the new toy placed on the bedside table.

Under the bright light, the toy’s eyes gleamed.

"Our Adrian is so outstanding, the mayor’s daughter must really like you, right?"

"That idiot..." Adrian sneered, "She really thinks I like her. If not for her being the mayor’s daughter, I wouldn’t even bother with her."

"So, should I congratulate you on soon becoming the mayor’s son-in-law?"

Adrian shot a wary glance at Felicity.

"I thought you didn’t like us being together, why ask now?"

"Isn’t my intention towards you clear?" Felicity feigned deep affection, "After all these years, who else would I be with but you? Just don’t forget me after you become successful!"

"Don’t worry," Adrian’s hand slid into her dress, "as long as you listen obediently, I promise you’ll have fine food and drinks."

"Really, but... aren’t you afraid the Eldest Miss Donovan will be upset?"

"That naïve girl, even having studied abroad, yet so conservative." Adrian toyed with her, with a look of disdain, "How could she compare to you in bed?"

Felicity responded cooperatively, "Then... what about Vice Mayor Donovan?"

"As long as I sleep with his daughter enough times, make it a done deal, once there’s a grandchild he’s bound to recognize me as family!"

"No wonder I like you so much!" Felicity relaxed onto the bed, "There’s no man smarter or more impressive than Adrian Chamberlain in this world."

"Such sweet talk!" Adrian couldn’t resist, flipping over to pin her down, "Today, I’ll show you my prowess!"

On the bed, the man and woman soon tangled together.

On the bedside table, in the toy’s left eye.

A tiny camera captured everything clearly.

After venting on Felicity, Adrian fell asleep well-contented.

Felicity lay beside him, waiting for him to sleep soundly, she quietly slipped out of bed.

Taking the toy from the bedside table, she went to the bathroom in the living room and closed the door.

She checked the video recorded in the app on the phone.

Felicity carefully saved the video, and dialed Sean Hale, Ethan Sterling’s assistant.

"Assistant Hale, I’ve got the items you wanted. Could we proceed with my payment as promised?"

"Does it include evidence of Caleb’s innocence?"

"I truly couldn’t get that, Adrian’s too tight-lipped, he won’t reveal anything to me."

"Then... is there nothing in his computer or phone?"

"Adrian is very cunning, he doesn’t trust me fully. His phone has a password, I can’t access it, and he never brings his computer here." Felicity felt worried, "You won’t... avoid paying me, right?"

"Don’t worry, Miss Shaw, the check is ready for you." Sean Hale chuckled, "Valoria Hotel, room 403, tomorrow at 1 pm, bring the recorded video to find me. Be careful not to let Adrian find out, otherwise... I can’t help you!"

Felicity hid the toy and hung up, walking to the bedroom door.

She gazed coldly at Adrian, who slept like a dead pig on the bed.

"Chamberlain, I’ve given you my youth, and this is how you treat me... hmph, this is the price you pay for hitting me!"

...

...

In a blink, it was three days later.

Today marked the fifteenth anniversary of Zenith Group’s official establishment.

To celebrate, and formally announce Ethan Sterling’s takeover, Zenith Group held a celebratory event in Zenith Tower’s multipurpose hall.

Almost all prominent figures from Jadeston’s high society received Ethan Sterling’s invitations.

Vice Mayor Donovan and his wife, along with the mayor’s daughter Diane Dawson, were no exception.

At seven in the evening, Zenith Tower’s parking lot filled with luxury cars.

Diane arrived in formal attire with her parents at Zenith Tower.

While the three of them took the elevator up, she felt a bit unhappy.

"Dad, Adrian and I agreed to be here together!"

"Diane!" Mrs. Donovan looked helpless, "You’ve only been dating for a few days, as a girl you should be a bit reserved."

Diane playfully swayed her mother’s arm, "We truly love each other, why should we hide it?"

Vice Mayor Donovan glanced at his daughter, frowning, "You two... haven’t already...?"

"Dad!" Diane blushed, "That’s my personal matter, don’t interfere."

The Vice Mayor was about to ask more questions, but the elevator had reached the floor.

Outside the elevator.

Ethan Sterling was impeccably dressed, looking tall and handsome.

Seeing the couple step out of the elevator, he smiled and came over.

"Vice Mayor Donovan, Mrs. Donovan, Miss Donovan, I apologize for not welcoming you sooner!"

The Vice Mayor and Mrs. Donovan smiled and shook hands with him, "President Sterling, you’re too kind."

Standing aside, Diane looked at Ethan, pouting and silent.

Believing Adrian’s words, Diane naturally didn’t have a favorable impression of either Seraphina or Ethan Sterling.

"There’s a bit of time before the formal celebration," Ethan raised his right hand, "May I take a few minutes of your time for a discussion?"

"Dad, Mom!" Diane hesitated to move, "Adrian will be here soon, you go ahead. I’ll wait for him here."

"Miss Donovan!" Ethan’s face held a smile, but his tone was cold, "You’d best join us as well!"

Diane was about to say more, but Vice Mayor Donovan spoke firmly.

"Diane, you come along too."

Mrs. Donovan extended a hand, pulling her daughter’s arm, giving her a meaningful look.

Although their daughter was clueless, Vice Mayor Donovan and Mrs. Donovan had already guessed that something significant must be happening.

Moreover...

The event undoubtedly involved their daughter.
