'Who in the world?'

Kiernan raised an eyebrow and looked silently at the strange, beautiful young woman who looked like she had been blessed by the goddess of beauty.

She had round eyes, pale skin that made it seem like she was cold, and black hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall.

Framing her round eyes were thin, dark lashes that fluttered with every blink. Her lips were full and pink, and they stayed in a straight line.

What fascinated Kiernan most were her gray eyes, which looked just like her eyes. If he stared at himself in the mirror, those same eyes would stare back at him.

"Young one, are you done?"

Tanaka knocked on the doorway and crossed his arms impatiently.

"I thought I had ten minutes?"

Kiernan looked over to him with a confused look.

"What are you talking about? It has already been ten minutes! I hope you won't continue being as bad with time."

Tanaka said with a sigh.

'It has been ten minutes? That can't be, I just entered this room!'

Kiernan's eyes shook, and he turned to look out of the window—the young woman was nowhere to be found.

"Sensei Tanaka. Is there a young woman with gray eyes and black hair also living here? I think I just saw her sitting by the pond."

Kiernan said to confirm his suspicions.

He had a feeling that this young woman was a ghost, who also happened to be the one to slam the front gate before he could.

He had seen his fair share of strange things in his life, so he doubted encountering ghosts wouldn't be an impossibility.

"Yes. That must've been young Aoi. She is Master Arakawa Raizen's granddaughter and his successor of Yokai Style."

Tanaka said.

'Wait, she actually exists? So she wasn't a ghost after all?'

Kiernan scratched the back of his head in slight embarrassment as he let his imagination go a little bit too wild.

"Are you done wasting time? There is plenty of ground to sweep, and you won't finish before sundown at this rate!"

Tanaka said sternly.

"I apologize. Let's go."

Kiernan said and followed Tanaka to the cleaning closet—he shoved the broom into Kiernan's hands and pointed outside.

While making his way outside, he looked towards the training courtyard and saw that the hundreds of students were sparring with each other.

It was quite a sight to see so many martial artists at one place, which was why Yokai Dojo's compound was extremely large to be able to host so many people.

When he passed by, few hostile gazes lingered in his direction, but when Kiernan waved the broom with a smile, their hostility suddenly faded away.

'It looks like the yellow hostile signs had disappeared from everyone. That's good, as I don't want to get accidentally attacked while I am asleep.'

Kiernan walked to the outside air and started sweeping the porch of its accumulated dirt, letting the dirt fall back onto the gravel ground.

Sweep~ Sweep~ Sweep~

'This reminds me of my days at the mountain dojo. As the lowest-ranked student, the chores fell on my shoulders, and the broom became my second weapon alongside my dear bokken.'

With fists flying, sweat dripping, and blood shedding, the students of Yokai Dojo fought till their sparring match couldn't move an inch anymore.

"Huff… Huff…"

Noah sat down on the bench and gulped down an entire water bottle in one sitting without wasting a single drop.

"Did you see him? It looks like he was hired as the new choreboy of the dojo by Master Arakawa."

Thiago sat next to him and asked after the two of them finished their sparring for now.

They had a five-minute break before another sparring match started.

"I saw. He looked like a foreigner, so who knows what ulterior motives he has for coming here? I trust Master Arakawa, but I don't know…"

Noah said with a sigh.

"What are you two talking about~?"

Mina asked as she approached them.

She leaned on the wall next to them, letting the sweat drip down her face, and fanning herself with her hand.

"That newcomer—the guy with the broom."

Thiago said.

"Ah, him~"

Mina chuckled to herself and said.

"That guy has eyes of the beast. I saw him studying us when he was walking by, looking like a predator on the prowl. The scary thing is that he didn't seem to be that impressed…

"We're the cream of the top, the best of the best, and he didn't even bat an eye at us."

She said humorously, crossing her arms.

"Could he be a spy of one of the rival dojos?"

"Do you think Master Arakawa wouldn't have found out? He is all-knowing and all-seeing, after all."

Thiago said.

"What are you all gossiping about? You're tired already?"

When they heard the voice, they tensed up and watched as Senior Brother Dante walked towards them with a serious look.

"Senior Brother Dante… We were just talking about that newcomer."

Mina said with a nervous chuckle.

"Newcomer? Hmph, you should spend your precious breathing in training. The tournament is only two weeks away, and the participants will be chosen shortly before that.

"If you don't put in your best effort, do you really think you can be chosen?!"

Dante asked angrily.

"Y-yes, senior brother!"

They said in unison and went back to training despite the fact that their break time wasn't really over yet, but they didn't want to anger Dante.

And they also wanted to be chosen to participate in the tournament, even though the chance that they were chosen was very slim.

"Hmph."

Dante crossed his arms and looked over from the training courtyard all the way to the front porch through the open walls of the dojo.

While looking at Kiernan, he looked at the way he was moving the broom and realized it was the movements of a master.

'Who is he? Master Arakawa wouldn't have allowed him to stay in his precious dojo temple one second longer than necessary if he didn't impress him.

'I don't know where this young man has come from, but he has clearly mastered his martial arts to a level far beyond possible.'

Dante's eyes turned sharp and his striker's fists started itching.
