Chapter 539: Truth About Mercedes

With the story finished, the members of the Martial Order sat silently around the stone table with some frowning.

"Is that supposed to somehow change our minds? I don’t quite understand the meaning of that story."

Xerxus said.

"When I finished drinking her blood, I took her to Paradise World, and I didn’t see her ever again, but that encounter changed me.

"I grew strong. Inhumanly strong. However, I also received a part of hers that was inhumanly evil.

"Unable to deal with those emotions, I killed all that crossed my path, without any remorse or hesitation. I plundered, destroyed, and conquered without mercy or regret.

"I became the first Pirate Lord of the seas, and those who followed in my footsteps continued the age of pain and evil.

"Only after I became False Immortal was I able to deal with those emotions better, which is why I have stopped my piracy activities already.

"Of course, I know what I have done, and I am not the same innocent boy of back then. I still kill like I did back then. I don’t blink when I do it."

Imperius said, leaning on the backrest of the stone throne, and then continued.

"Pankratios mentioned that story because of that woman. The woman who goes by the name of Mercedes Rosburg."

Who was this woman, and why did it matter? Most of them started to think that they should’ve been discussing Imperius, but now they were discussing some woman that they had never heard of before.

"She was the Martial God of her time, and that happened during the days of the Old Stone Age."

Pankratios said coldly.

When they heard that, they widened their eyes in shock, as the Old Stone Age was full of incredibly powerful figures, and there could’ve only been one Martial God.

It meant that this Mercedes Rosburg woman was the strongest entity of that era, when the Martial Order was still existing!

"I met her during the New Stone Age, and it had been a few hundred years before my time that the Old Stone Age came to an end.

"I know that Mercedes woman went to Paradise World, and a few centuries later, that world got destroyed.

"The day that Paradise World became Dead World, everyone in the world could feel that something happened.

"The animals, fishes, and everything that was living tried to escape out of the Paradise World, but it was too late; the destruction was inevitable. The sky turned dark, the earth shook violently, and the once beautiful Paradise World was reduced to rubble.

"I was already of Martial Emperor strength back then, so I went to check out the Paradise World and came across a ship full of refugees.

"They told me about a woman of silver hair, who apparently became the new ruler of Paradise World, and shortly after, that world went to shit."

Imperius said while everyone listened closely with beating hearts. They were shocked to hear what he was saying, and they all started to think the same thing.

Could it be that they were close to the truth about what happened with Paradise World?

"I am just going to say—I think that Mercedes woman was the greatest evil of the Old Stone Age, and she is the only one that could’ve destroyed Martial Order singlehandedly.

"I came to that conclusion after reading the diary of the King of the West World, thanks to young Kiernan over there. I also think that she then went to Paradise World and destroyed that world for one reason..."

Pankratios said, and raised one finger.

"I think she was trying to become an entity even greater than the Martial God. I believe above the Martial God Stage, there is another stage, the Transcendence Stage.

"I think she needed to sacrifice billions of people in order to reach that level of power."

Pankratios said.

Gasp~

Everyone let out a cold breath, and thought that if that was true, they’d just been told otherworldly information.

Xerxus sat silently on his stone throne, and then with a voice that was barely above a whisper, he asked.

"Then... what is your vote?"

"I vote yay. I think Imperius is as important as you are, Xerxus, to this order, and I hope you learn to accept him as your ally.

"We’re going to be facing an entity that is stronger than a hundred Martial Orders together. In front of Transcendent, we’re lesser than a bug.

"We need all the strength we have."

Pankratios said.

"You think that silver-haired woman is still alive?"

Amara asked with a gasp.

"I don’t believe that Transcendent is just going to die in some back alley of some tavern. I believe that she is still in Dead World, and I think she is trying to become yet stronger.

"A person who is willing to sacrifice half of the world is not going to be satisfied with just strong. They want to be the strongest of them all.

"And I think, when she is ready to become yet stronger, I think she is going to return to the Martial World to sacrifice us all next.

"We cannot let that happen!"

Pankratios shouted and slammed his fist on the table—the table was durable enough to handle his punch.

Xerxus stayed silent and just nodded.

When he decided to step down from his Fleet Admiral position, Pankratios only told him a fraction of the story, but it was enough to make him dedicate himself to the cause.

Now, there was no other choice than to work together with Pirate Immortal, because he was strong, and they needed strong allies.

"I have a mission for all of you. I need you to start to gather any and all information you can find about Mercedes Rosburg.

"She is pretty much of a ghost, and I haven’t been able to find anything about her, which is strange, because Martial Gods shouldn’t be ghosts.

"They’re ones that have reached the top of the martial arts world, and there should be no way for one of them to disappear without a trace.

"This is very important task, and for now, the first meeting of the Martial Order has been concluded.

"See you in a week!"

Pankratios slammed his hand on the table and sent every member of the Martial Order back where they came from.
