Martial Arts Worlds-Chapter 838: Pinnacle
"You killed all these people. Why?"
Kiernan asked.
"They are dead either way when our Queen comes here. I just hurried up the process. Everyone you know will also be dead soon enough."
Metsudo said.
There was no falsehood in his tone, as if he really believed what he was talking about.
Everywhere he looked, he only saw death that had yet to come, and even though he couldn’t see the future like Prisoner, it still felt like he had future sight.
"So what will happen then? Mercedes will just rule over skulls and skeletons?"
Kiernan asked with a frown.
"Haha, of course not. Her final goal is not this place. This is just a mortal realm that holds zero importance in the grand scheme of things.
"Her goal is ruling over everything. Heavens, is her goal."
Metsudo stood up with the sword in hand. It had a thin and long blade. Its edge was sharp enough to split a hair in two.
This was a special sword that was born alongside Metsudo and grew alongside him like a twin brother.
It was like the gods themselves had decided that Metsudo would become a swordsman, and the strongest of that profession.
"Well then, show me what you got, Mister System User."
Metsudo said with a cold smile.
With a thud, Kiernan landed on the deck of the ship, and his right arm started spinning like a drill would.
"HYPERION’S SMASH!"
The fist clashed with the Metsudo’s sword, and the waves churned over the entire ocean, and shockwaves rippled through the air.
Pinnacle of Swordmanship versus Pinnacle of the Martial Arts!
"Micro Slashes!"
Metsudo pulled his sword back, and then in just a span that took a person to blink, he swung his sword about three hundred times.
"God’s Edge!"
Kiernan moved to counter, and his hands clashed with the sword, and he deflected each one of those sword swings.
None of them could penetrate his defenses!
A single mistake during that sequence would’ve guaranteed Kiernan’s death, but he was incredibly confident in his own abilities.
Anybody else would’ve tried to evade, but not him. He wanted to keep pressing forward with the attack.
A small opening presented itself.
And Kiernan immediately saw it and punched through it with Iron Smash and was inches away from hitting Metsudo, but his arm’s length wasn’t quite enough to reach.
That was fine.
Kiernan knew the length of his arm perfectly, and before he even threw a punch, he knew that it wouldn’t be able to reach.
It wasn’t his plan to punch him now.
"Separation Slash!"
Metsudo brought his sword down on Kiernan’s arm.
He noticed that Kiernan’s punch couldn’t quite reach him, as he backed away slightly to increase the gap between the two of them.
After seeing that his punch failed, he noticed a perfect opportunity to cut off his arm, as if the opportunity was presented to him on a silver platter.
It felt far too good to be true...
And it was.
"Black Qi!"
In that moment, the Black Qi outfit draped over Kiernan and even covered his sleeves in that thin black material.
Yet, this thin black material was unbreakable.
CLING!
The sword smashed into the arm, which was covered with the Black Qi, and he couldn’t cut through it!
"IRON SMASH!"
Kiernan brought his fist forward, and it was about to punch the ever-living shit out of Metsudo’s face, but in the last possible millisecond, he raised his sword and blocked the punch.
Yet.
The punch created shockwave so strong that Metsudo was flung backwards, and he smashed through the ship cabin.
He was hovering above the water surface, looking like he was about to take a splash, but then, he opened his eyes and started flying above the water.
He turned around, flying only inches above the water level, and then landed back on the ship without a single water droplet touching him.
"Haha, this is good... It’s been a very long time since someone made me sweat a little bit, but don’t fall behind now, I am about to start getting serious!"
Metsudo said with a grin.
Kiernan’s eyes looked serious.
In that moment, they met in the middle of the ship, and the fists and the swords started flying at each other.
The two men clashed in a fierce battle, and the ship rocked back and forth with the force of their blows.
Meanwhile, the cameras were broadcasting it all, and the viewers were on the edge of their seats.
This level of fight was nothing that any of them had ever seen.
In the recorded history of Martial World, there had never been two True Gods fighting each other, as far as they knew.
At least not after Old Stone Age, but the history before Old Stone Age was not accurately recorded and was largely based on myths and legends.
In this day and age, this was easily the highest level of fight that had been seen.
...
In the peaceful island.
"...This is..."
Seated around the television in a cozy-looking house, Bella, Karma, Baru, and other workers of the farm were watching the television.
"Father said that this person must’ve come from Dead World, and the government tried sending Martial Emperors to speak with him.
"They all got killed without any explanation about why.
"Thus, the navy and government have been working together to isolate this person from the rest of the world, but if he...
"Really wants to come here. There is nobody that can stop him... Except for our son."
Bella said with a serious look on her face.
She had never felt completely powerless when looking at a person that was stronger than her except now.
This Metsudo guy’s strength was a complete joke. It was at a level that nobody had seen before.
"...No worries, Kiernan will handle this. It looks like he recovered his martial soul... Thank god for that..."
Karma said with a sigh of relief.
With his eyes glued to the television, Baru was watching the fight with his heart beating against his chest.
He couldn’t look away, but since the fight was at such a high level, it was quite hard for them to see what was happening.
Metsudo and Kiernan were moving at such insane speed that they sometimes looked like blurs to them.
Even Bella, who was a Martial Emperor, couldn’t keep up with their speed at all, and so, someone like Baru, who hadn’t Awakened yet, could see even less.
Still, it was insanely intense!
...
Montrael, Martial Redemption Dojo.
Every student had gathered in front of the television screens to watch the fight, and they were all on the edge of their seats.
"...Go dad..."
Ellie whispered as she watched on her mother’s lap, and Aoi was silently sitting with her heart threatening to burst out of her chest.
If Kiernan died, she didn’t think that any of them could recover from that, especially if it happened in a live broadcast.
’Please...’
"Cough... Cough..."
In that moment, Ellie started coughing, and she looked slightly paler, but she just shook her head and looked back to the television.
"Are you alright, dear?"
Aoi asked, as that cough didn’t sound all that nice.
"Mm, I am fine, mom..."
Ellie said weakly, as if she was turning sick, but she still wanted to cheer for her dad, so she just shrugged it off.
...
Irio, Karuza High.
"...Damn."
The students were looking at their phones, even though a class was currently happening, but the teacher didn’t care.
The teacher was watching the fight from a portable television that the classroom had and was biting her nails.
...
"Stabbing of the Devio Ring!"
Metsudo stabbed his sword forward, but Kiernan’s hands moved as fluidly as water, and he grabbed the blade and stopped it from piercing his chest.
In that moment, he chopped at Metsudo’s wrist, made him drop the sword, and then Kiernan punched him repeatedly in the chest.
"Iron Smash Storm!"
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
"..."
Metsudo felt the fists hammer against his chest, but he didn’t let out a single sound, and soon his back crashed against one of the masts.
"Come at me."
Metsudo reached his hand towards the sword.
The sword started twitching, and it started suddenly flying back at him, but in that moment, Kiernan grabbed the sword.
"I think I’ll be taking this with me."
Kiernan said coldly and squeezed hard on the sword’s hilt, and suddenly its blade started cracking.
Crack... SHATTER!
And at that moment, the sword shattered like fragile glass, and its many pieces dropped to the deck.
"...That’s not very nice."
Metsudo said with a scoff.
He then waved his hand, and the sword became whole again and flew straight back to his hand.
’No wonder he didn’t show any reaction. This sword cannot be broken by ordinary means. Not sure if there are any ways to destroy it.’
Kiernan thought with a sigh.
His plan was to get rid of the sword for now, as it was obviously the greatest source of Metsudo’s strength.
If he got rid of it, Metsudo only had his martial arts to rely on, and in that field, Kiernan had a much bigger advantage over him.
In the martial arts, there was nobody on Kiernan’s level currently.
