Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Bai Yun Feng and Fan Hong

While the cousins were talking, two old men suddenly approached and reported, "Young Master, Young Lord Yang, the Bai Family and Purple Fern Valley people have arrived."

Yang Kai and Dong Qing Han exchanged a glance. The latter chuckled, "They came quickly. They’re probably afraid I’ll snatch away that martial skill you acquired."

Yang Kai nodded silently.

"What do you plan to do?" Dong Qing Han asked, smiling wryly at Yang Kai. These fools had spent their days here harassing his sister-in-law — Yang Kai surely held a grudge. There was bound to be a good show to watch.

If Yang Kai revealed his true identity, the Bai Family and Purple Fern Valley people wouldn’t dare provoke him — they’d likely fall over themselves to apologize and beg for mercy. But the problem was, Yang Kai couldn’t reveal who he was yet. Dong Qing Han was eager to see how his cousin would handle this. His slightly chubby face was filled with a gleeful smile.

"I’ll see what their attitude is first," Yang Kai said indifferently.

"And if their attitude isn’t good?" Dong Qing Han asked, his eyes narrowing.

Yang Kai looked at him and smiled slyly.

Dong Qing Han couldn’t help but grin too, letting out a low, malicious laugh. He was clearly looking forward to the show.

After all, expecting those arrogant fools from the Bai Family and Purple Fern Valley to be polite was obviously impossible.

Shortly after, two cheerful voices mixed with laughter drifted in from outside. Two young men about the same age as Dong Qing Han stepped through the door — one dressed in a spotless white robe, the other in an extravagant purple uniform.

Both carried themselves with obvious arrogance. The one in white was clearly Bai Yun Feng, young master of the Bai Family. The purple-robed one was Fan Hong, a disciple of Purple Fern Valley.

Trailing behind them were two High Heaven Pavilion disciples. Yang Kai recognized one but couldn’t recall his name; the other was Disciplinary Hall’s Cao Zheng Wen.

These two had once entered the Heaven’s Cave Inheritance too. Now, walking a few steps behind Bai Yun Feng and Fan Hong like obedient dogs, it was obvious they’d been bought off — no longer true High Heaven Pavilion disciples but running dogs of the Bai Family and Purple Fern Valley.

"Brother Dong, as elegant as ever," Bai Yun Feng said with a smirk, flicking his folding fan closed. He cast Yang Kai a dismissive glance before continuing, "Coming here for drinks but not inviting Brother Fan and me — you almost make us feel unwelcome."

Fan Hong laughed dryly. "Unlike Brother Dong, who gets to drink and relax, Brother Bai and I have wasted half a month waiting outside that beauty’s loft. We haven’t even seen her face. Maybe Brother Dong knows how to enjoy life better than us."

A faint sneer curled Yang Kai’s lips. Su Yan, he thought. So these vermin were squatting outside her door like stray dogs.

Dong Qing Han only chuckled and gestured for them to sit. He shot Yang Kai a meaningful look, then shrugged. "What can I say? Before I left home, my esteemed father arranged my marriage. I don’t dare chase other women now. I’m not as free as you two."

Bai Yun Feng and Fan Hong sat down smugly, while Cao Zheng Wen and the other traitor stood respectfully behind them.

"Brother Dong must be joking," Bai Yun Feng said, eyes gleaming with mockery. "I heard you snatched up a pretty little disciple from High Heaven Pavilion recently. Tell me, Brother Dong — did you win her over with gold and gifts, or was it your skill in bed?"

Dong Qing Han just forced a smile and shook his head. "Brother Bai really loves to joke. I did recruit a female disciple, yes — but only because my Dong Family offered her a better future. She came out of Heaven’s Cave Inheritance with a good opportunity, strong potential too. All she needs is proper resources to grow into a true talent."

Bai Yun Feng laughed dismissively and turned his cold eyes toward Yang Kai — but spoke as if Yang Kai wasn’t even there. "And this must be High Heaven Pavilion’s Yang Kai, yes? So, Brother Dong, have you closed your deal with him yet?"

"We’ve only just talked," Dong Qing Han replied lazily. "No results yet — until you two arrived."

Bai Yun Feng and Fan Hong’s eyes lit up at that. "Then Brother Fan and I still have a chance," Bai Yun Feng sneered.

Fan Hong didn’t bother pretending. He locked his eyes on Yang Kai and said bluntly, "I heard you picked up a fine martial skill in Heaven’s Cave Inheritance. That true?"

Yang Kai didn’t flinch. He met Fan Hong’s stare head-on and replied with an icy smile, "True."

Fan Hong’s eyes flashed greedily. He leaned forward, lowering his voice like he was doing Yang Kai a great favor. "I’ll be direct — I want that martial skill. Name your price and I’ll buy it."

Yang Kai sat back, voice calm but eyes sharp. "Alright. What do you think you can offer?"

Fan Hong smirked, reaching into his robe. He pulled out a fat stack of silver coins and pushed it across the table. "A hundred thousand silver coins — yours if you hand over the cultivation method. Enough to make a poor Sect brat like you rich overnight."

The coins clinked on the table. The two traitor disciples behind him visibly tensed, eyes glued to the silver.

Yang Kai glanced at the pile — then flicked his gaze back up without touching it. He didn’t even bother shaking his head. He just smiled, amused.

Fan Hong’s grin twitched. He pulled out another stack and slapped it down beside the first. "Two hundred thousand, then. I’m generous enough."

Still, Yang Kai didn’t move. He didn’t even look at the money.

Bai Yun Feng snorted at Fan Hong’s failed attempt. He spread his fan, chuckling like he was watching a child lose a toy. "Brother Fan, you’re too stingy. Yang Kai, was it? I’ll offer you two hundred thousand silver coins. Enough for you to live easy for the rest of your pitiful life — good food, fine clothes, three wives, four concubines. That’s the kind of glory a brat like you will never taste again."

Fan Hong’s face darkened at Bai Yun Feng’s interruption, but the Bai Family young master ignored him completely, flashing a patronizing smile at Yang Kai.

Dong Qing Han, sitting to the side, nearly burst out laughing. He hunched over, shoulders shaking, doing his best to hold it in. Trying to buy off a direct descendant of the Yang Family for a few bags of silver — these idiots really have no clue.
