Marvel: Hunter-Chapter 337: Revengers
Thor had just finished giving instructions to his younger brother when another voice sounded nearby. Turning his head, he saw that it was Valkyrie.
"Hey, it’s you."
Thor broke into a grin when he recognized her. It reminded him that when he had first arrived on Sakaar, he had been captured and dragged here by this woman. If he hadn’t known she was one of the Valkyries of Asgard, Thor really would have liked to tie her up himself, just so she could experience what it felt like.
"Why are you here?"
"Are you planning to escape with us too?"
"Don’t joke around."
"I’m the Prince of Asgard."
"We’re going back to Asgard now to stop my sister."
"Hela, the Goddess of Death. You’ve heard of her, right?"
"Very scary."
"Are you sure you want to join us?"
Thor laid out their goal directly, deliberately bringing up his sister’s name in an attempt to make Valkyrie back off.
If she didn’t want to come along, that would be for the best. Valkyrie had once been incredibly powerful, but ever since that disastrous battle in the past, she had sunk into decline and even disappeared for years. Thor honestly wasn’t eager to bring her along.
"Listen,"
"I’ve been doing nothing all these years just to forget the past."
"Sakaar is a great place to drown yourself in alcohol, forget everything, and quietly wait to die."
Perhaps sensing Thor’s reluctance, Valkyrie spoke with a hint of indignation. Especially after hearing Thor say he was returning to Asgard to face Hela, her resolve only grew stronger.
"I think you drink too much. It’s going to kill you sooner or later,"
Thor said half-jokingly.
"I’m not quitting drinking yet."
"Oh."
"But I don’t plan to keep running anymore."
"I can’t keep hiding."
"So if I’m going to die,"
"I’ll use my sword to pierce that murderous old hag’s heart first!"
"That’s why I’ve decided to join your team."
"Do you have a team name?"
With her resolve set, Valkyrie joined without hesitation. Whether Thor agreed or not hardly mattered—she had already decided. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Well..."
"The team name is... uh... um..."
"The Revengers. Yes, it’s called the Revengers."
After thinking for a long time, Thor’s mind suddenly sparked, and he blurted out the name.
"The Revengers?"
Valkyrie shrugged, clearly suspicious. It sounded very much like something he had just made up on the spot.
"That’s right. I want revenge, and you want revenge too."
"As for you—do you have any revenge you want to take?"
Thor hastily explained, gesturing to himself and Valkyrie before turning to Loki.
"Me? Well... uh... I haven’t really thought about it yet,"
Loki replied hesitantly.
Unlike Thor, Loki didn’t feel any attachment to Asgard. Thor was the Prince of Asgard, Odin was gone, and he now carried the responsibility of his people. Loki, on the other hand, had always been lost, unsure of his place or purpose.
"So, what do we do next?" Thor asked.
In truth, his own plan only went so far: rescue Loki, steal the controller, free the other prisoners, and then escape amid the chaos. As for what came after—how to leave Sakaar or return to Asgard—he hadn’t figured that out yet.
"We need a spaceship,"
"One that can fly out of Sakaar and pass through a space wormhole to Asgard."
"And I just happen to know where Grandmaster’s ship is."
"At the same time, I know how to bypass the security and open it without triggering the alarm."
Loki spoke up at just the right moment. As the God of Mischief, he never lacked ideas.
"Hey, hey, hey."
"Do you really think we can trust you?"
"Just a few minutes ago, you were trying to get us killed."
The moment Loki finished speaking, Valkyrie took a large swig of wine and smashed the bottle onto the ground.
"Yeah, that’s right."
"He did try to kill us."
The stone man, who hadn’t gone far, overheard this and jabbed Loki hard. The mantis-like creature nodded firmly as well, clearly expressing their distrust, before hurrying off to continue their task.
"He tried to kill me too. That story alone could fill books,"
"A mountain of bamboo slips wouldn’t be enough to record his crimes."
"You know,"
"When we were kids,"
"He once turned himself into a snake."
"He knew snakes were my favorite."
"Just when I was delighted and went to pick it up,"
"He suddenly turned back into himself."
"With that ’yeah, it’s me’ look on his face."
"And stabbed me."
"We were only eight years old."
Thor tried to restore some trust in Loki. Growing up together, he knew Loki better than anyone.
Yes, Loki was unreliable at times, often more trouble than help. But when it really mattered, he wasn’t useless. He always had his schemes.
"So what’s the next step?"
"Where’s the spaceship?" Valkyrie pressed.
Even if she was willing to trust Loki for now, they still needed a concrete plan.
"Well, we’re going to start an uprising."
Thor proudly laid out his "brilliant" plan, explaining that they would let the stone man and the others cause chaos to cover their escape.
At the same time, back in the arena, the audience was still engrossed in the increasingly monotonous battle.
Blaine, however, had been watching everything Thor and Loki were doing, and he was growing anxious. This kind of fighting was torture for him. Every punch he threw had to be carefully restrained—if he used too much strength, he might accidentally blow the two brutes away and end the match too early.
He had also noticed the brief chaos on the viewing platform. Seeing Grandmaster and his guards in disarray, Blaine thought the moment had arrived. But before he could act, order was restored, and Grandmaster’s attention returned to the arena, making Blaine even more uneasy.
Just as Blaine was beginning to tire, a deafening explosion suddenly erupted from behind the arena, from the passageway.
The gate to the passage burst open once more.
Blaine froze, wondering what Thor was up to now. The original plan had only been to create some confusion and draw Grandmaster’s attention.
