Chapter 112 - 112 :She's just Outside the Bathroom

Finn didn't watch the two chase each other but instead fixed his gaze on the ruined church.

He suddenly recalled the moment they had first arrived here—they had detected an energy fluctuation.

Could it have been an illusion too?

"Try it. If it's really an illusion, we might be able to break it."

With a broad sweep of Finn's hand, a dark aura surged through the air, consuming the church in black flames. As the illusion shattered, the real surroundings were revealed.

Now, in front of him stood the true church—or what was left of it. The scene was bleak. Rubble was scattered everywhere, broken stones littered the ground, and the air was thick with the smell of dust and decay.

What they had destroyed before was merely a projection, a mirage set up in the environment, somewhat different from the real church.

"These cultists are stronger than I expected," Finn admitted, narrowing his eyes at the desolate ruins.

Before, they hadn't found any direct evidence, only a faint trace of magical energy.

But that energy had been so subtle that it had gone unnoticed at first.

"You... you stop right there!!"

A voice, breathless yet furious, rang out.

Turning around, Finn saw Wanda, panting as she approached, having finally broken away from her fight.

"Hm?" he muttered.

Wanda took a moment to steady her breathing, then her eyes widened as she took in the sight before her. "Finn... this doesn't look like the same church from before."

"You just noticed?"

The Dark Witch gave her a sidelong glance, clearly unimpressed. "I noticed right away."

"If you noticed, why didn't you say something sooner?" Wanda frowned, skepticism clear on her face.

"Because it didn't matter." The Dark Witch spoke nonchalantly. "Even if the real church appeared, it posed no threat to us. So why waste time pointing it out?"

To her, this kind of deception was nothing more than a parlor trick. Hardly worth acknowledging.

With her power, she could have obliterated everything here in a single instant.

"It's fine," Finn interjected. "The Chaos Magic flowing through both of you affects reality itself. Either way, illusions don't stand a chance."

Finn shook his head, unconcerned. Then, turning to the Dark Witch, he voiced another thought. "But what I'm wondering is... has that Nightmare bastard been watching me?"

"I doubt it. Those weaklings weren't powerful enough to be true apostles of his. It's possible even Nightmare himself is unaware of their existence."

The Dark Witch analyzed the situation, her voice calm and calculating.

Nightmare was a powerful demon, one of the Lords of Fear, ruling his own twisted dimension. He had an army of followers, but these cultists? They were insignificant in comparison.

"That does make sense." Finn nodded in agreement.

Nightmare was not the type to waste his time on disposable pawns. If he had truly been behind this, he wouldn't have sent such weak magicians. He would have used stronger, more capable servants.

And the fact that these cultists had barely put up a fight suggested they weren't truly connected to Nightmare's grander schemes.

"At any rate, we shouldn't dwell on it too much. If Nightmare has taken an interest in you, he wouldn't reveal his hand this early. This might just be his way of testing your strength."

The Dark Witch spoke each word with confidence.

It was an unlikely scenario, but not impossible. If Nightmare was truly planning something, then testing Finn's capabilities first would be a logical move.

"I noticed something else, though," Finn added, his expression darkening. "Right before those cultists died, I tried to extract their memories... but there was nothing. Completely blank. Nightmare must have erased their minds."

Finn's thoughts drifted back to the last battle, to the moment Carat had died. That incident had only solidified his belief—these people were disposable, mere pawns thrown away before they could reveal anything useful.

Or worse, this entire thing was a deliberate trap laid by Nightmare. A smokescreen designed to keep them chasing shadows.

"Are you two done analyzing everything, or do you plan to keep ignoring me?"

Wanda's annoyed voice cut through their conversation, drawing their attention back to her.

Finn smirked at her frustration and reached out, ruffling her hair. "How could I ignore you? You're far too pretty for that."

Wanda scowled but didn't pull away.

"Study the Darkhold properly. We'll head back home soon," Finn continued. "As for the church, I already contacted S.W.O.R.D. They'll handle the magic residue and clean up the scene."

Wanda blinked in surprise. "Wait... but I just called S.H.I.E.L.D."

She had been concerned about any lingering threats and wanted the area secured as quickly as possible, which was why she had immediately contacted S.H.I.E.L.D.

Finn let out a tired chuckle. "Well, that's gonna be fun. S.W.O.R.D. and S.H.I.E.L.D. investigating the same scene? That's a disaster waiting to happen."

He could already picture the chaos. Two of the most powerful organizations on Earth, both known for their secrecy and control issues, showing up at the same site? It would be a political nightmare.

Especially with someone like Nick Fury involved.

That man did not like sharing jurisdiction.

"Shouldn't the two agencies just work together?" Wanda asked, puzzled.

"Nope. Each group thinks they're better than the other. S.W.O.R.D. considers themselves the ultimate authority when it comes to extraterrestrial and supernatural threats. Meanwhile, S.H.I.E.L.D. refuses to acknowledge anyone else's jurisdiction."

Finn sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Honestly, I don't care who handles it. I just don't want them knocking on my door later."

"Whatever. Let's just go back," Wanda grumbled.

Finn nodded. He had no love for either organization, and he wasn't about to get tangled up in their inevitable power struggle. Better to let them handle their own mess.

Besides, the supernatural disturbance they had caused was bound to be detected soon. Better to report it now than let someone else come knocking later.

"Yeah. It's late, and I need a shower," Wanda said, stretching.

"Want company?" the Dark Witch teased, raising an eyebrow.

"Go to hell! Who wants to bathe with you?! I'm not into that!" Wanda shot back, glaring.

The three of them walked back toward the apartment, moving at a leisurely pace through the darkened woods. Despite everything, the night felt strangely peaceful.

Soon enough, they reached home.

Wanda headed straight for the bathroom, but before she could close the door, the Dark Witch stepped forward. "Mind if I borrow your shower?"

Wanda turned, scowling. "What? No!"

But the Dark Witch was already slipping past her, smirking as she shut the door behind her.

Wanda fumed. "She's the worst."

Finn leaned against the wall, amused. "You're still upset about last time?"

Wanda folded her arms, huffing. "She walked in on us, Finn."

Yeah, that had been a moment killer.

"It's fine," Finn said, trying to soothe her. "We'll have plenty of chances in the future."

"Not with her around!" Wanda shot back, still glaring at the closed bathroom door.

Finn chuckled. "You're cute when you're jealous."

Wanda's face flushed, but she quickly turned away. "Shut up."

Finn just smirked.

One way or another, things were only going to get more complicated from here.

Finn looked at her and didn't speak, just shook his head with a smile.

Soon, Wanda walked toward the bathroom balcony, gathering her spare clothes.

"Well, the two witches take turns showering, and I have to wait."

Finn felt helpless. He could only go in after both of them had finished. What a torment.

Frustrated as he was, the thought of the two witches lounging on the sofa afterward in faintly translucent pajamas immediately surfaced in his mind, making him tense. Their contrasting figures, veiled only by thin fabric, made the air thick with an unspoken tension.

Those sultry gazes sent a rush through him.

"No, if I keep thinking about this, something will definitely happen."

Finn shook his head to push the images away.

After what felt like an eternity, the two witches finally finished their showers and emerged, steam trailing from the bathroom like a mystical fog. Wrapped in misty silk nightgowns, they moved with effortless grace.

"Is it my turn yet?"

Finn sighed at the sight of the humid, sauna-like bathroom. He shook his head and stepped inside, discarding his clothes as he went.

On the sofa, Wanda and her dark counterpart sat together, earphones in, letting music fill the room.

"Listen to this."

Wanda switched to another track, letting an ethereal melody flow between them.

"This one's good. I wouldn't have expected you to like this kind of music."

Dark Wanda smirked. "We're not so different, after all."

Wanda continued scrolling. Their tastes weren't just similar—they were nearly identical.

"Your turn. Let me hear yours."

The Dark Witch selected an English song, letting a slow, haunting melody play.

"This sounds so much like mine. How?"

Wanda frowned in surprise.

"Maybe because we're two versions of the same person," Dark Wanda murmured, leaning back comfortably.

Wanda observed her silently. Over time, their relationship had shifted from hostility to reluctant allies, then to something more complex. A connection beyond mere resemblance.

Without realizing it, Wanda had risen and quietly made her way to the bathroom door. The sound of the shower masked her footsteps.

Knock, knock, knock.

The door creaked open.

Steam poured out, thick as a dream. Water splashed in the background.

"What is it, witch?"

Finn poked his head out, slightly flushed.

"Why are you taking so long?"

Wanda frowned, narrowing her eyes.

"Showering properly takes time."

Finn shook his head and moved to shut the door, but Wanda's hand stopped it.

She stepped forward, inhaling deeply. "Why do I smell something familiar?"

"Back up. You're too close."

Finn's voice tensed as he took a step back.

Her silk gown clung to her frame, leaving little to the imagination. A temptation wrapped in moonlight-colored fabric.

"Relax. The Dark Witch is still listening to music. She won't hear us."

Wanda's voice was barely above a whisper, but the realization of her words made her blush.

Why did it sound like she was sneaking around? Like she was the "other woman" caught in something forbidden?

Finn peeked toward the sofa. The Dark Witch was still lost in the song, eyes closed, fingers idly tapping to the rhythm.

"If you come inside, she won't hear a thing."

Finn smirked and pulled Wanda inside, shutting the door behind them.

"Wait—Finn, what are you doing?!"

Wanda panicked. "If she walks in, we're screwed."

Her biggest concern wasn't the act itself—it was the Dark Witch walking in on them. Again.

"She's got headphones on. We've got water noise covering us. It's fine."

Finn tilted her chin up with a smirk. "Besides, doesn't the risk make it more exciting?"

Wanda's breath hitched. "You're insane."

If she didn't know Finn, she'd think he was someone else entirely. Since when did he have such twisted ideas?

"You don't want to try?"

Finn's hand slid along her waist as the mist thickened, blurring the space between them.

"We might get caught..."

Wanda's face flushed a deeper shade of red, the warmth of the steam intensifying it.

"Don't worry. I'll be gentle. And even if she does hear, the water will cover everything."

Finn's voice was deep, almost hypnotic.

Wanda hesitated... "This is a bad idea..."

But her gaze flickered over his damp skin, the heat radiating between them undeniable.

She swallowed hard.

It would be a lie to say she didn't want to.

And it really did seem... thrilling.
