Chapter 32 - CH 31: Peter x Gwen P4

The sound of the doorbell rang and caught Gwen's attention. She put her cooking tools down to hurry towards the door with a big smile. When she opened the door, she was greeted by her smiling boyfriend "Heeey, babe. Good evening."

"Hi, babe!" She leaped into his arms, not at all worried that he might suddenly fall. She knew he wouldn't, after all. She looked up with a smile before pecking his lips "You're finally here."

"I am. Sorry for being late. I just wanted to buy some extra snacks." He shook his arms. As Gwen looked down, she saw a few bags of pure snacks. She grinned "Movie night is gonna be crazy, huh? Wait, is that chicken? Why did you buy chicken meat?"

He grinned "I'm gonna cook us some mean fried chicken."

She raised an amused eyebrow "Cook? You? And fried chicken at that? Yeah, right."

"Whaaat? You don't believe in my cooking skills?"

"In your cooking skills? No. In you burning down our kitchen and probably our entire apartment building? Absolutely."

"Wooow. Girlfriend of the year, people."

"Hahahaha, don't be such a baby. Come on in already. We shouldn't just stay in the hallway."

As he walked in, she held up her hand "Give me your jacket. I'll hang it in my room."

He smiled in amusement "Can I put these stuff down first?"

"O-oh, right. Hahaha, sorry." She giggled shyly "Give them to me."

"Nah, it's okay." He walked into the kitchen and put them down on the cabinet. Gwen smiled and looked at the backpack on his back "You did bring some comfortable clothes, right?"

"Yeah, they're in my backpack. Where can I change?"

"Oh, just change in my room."

"Okay." He walked towards her room, but stopped and looked back with a teasing smile "You're not gonna peek, right?"

She gasped and smiled in half disbelief, half amusement "No, I'm not! The nerve..." Making him laugh as he walked into her room "Hey, you won't hear any complaints from me if you did!"

"Sure, I'll even film you with a camera!" She rolled her eyes in amusement, making him laugh even more. He came back in more comfortable clothes a minute or two later.

"Alright, make yourself comfortable on the couch." Gwen smiled as put her apron back on. But Peter smiled and stepped into the kitchen while cracking his fingers "Nah, it's okay. I told you already, I'm gonna be making some mean fried chicken for us tonight."

"You were serious? Like, actually serious?"

"Yes, I was."

"...You sure you don't want to just watch some TV?"

"Come on, Gwen. Have some faith in me, would you?"

"Oh, I have faith in you. In many of your skills. But cooking isn't one of them."

"Wooow."

"Like, I saw the aftermath of you cooking once in your Aunt May's kitchen, and I instantly knew I had to learn how to cook for the both of us. It was like an actual war happened in that kitchen."

Peter chuckled fondly "That's sweet, Gwen. But it's okay, I've learned how to cook too! Just give me a chance. You can monitor my every move to make sure I don't screw anything up, okay?"

After a moment of silence, she smiled helplessly "...Haaah, fine. I guess I'll give you a chance to prove yourself."

"And you ain't gonna regret it! Now give me some space to amaze ya and your taste buds tonight!"

They got cooking. With Peter preparing the fried chicken he had promised, and Gwen preparing some delicious Mac and cheese. All while talking, laughing and chatting about whatever.

While frying the chicken pieces that he had cut, Peter looked back and smiled at his girlfriend "To be honest, I wasn't expecting you to make Mac and cheese of all things."

"I just didn't know what to make. Then I remembered your new favorite food is. I hope you like it though."

"Aww, thanks, babe." He smiled fondly "With how amazing your cooking is, I'm sure I will. And I'm sure you will love my fried chicken too!"

"Hahahaha, well, considering that you haven't blown up the kitchen yet, I'm starting to actually believe you. You really have improved, huh? Your Aunt May actually believed that you didn't have any hope with cooking. I did too. What brought the change, I don't know."

"Hahahaha, I guess I just improved."

He quirked an eyebrow as his tentacle came out of his shirt quietly to stare at him and the chicken pieces in confusion. It didn't have any eyes or facial features, but Peter figured it was confused.

He shrugged and whispered "Hey, just because they were prisoners doesn't mean they didn't have any hobbies."

"Huh? Did you say something?" As Gwen looked at him, the tentacle went back inside him quickly. He smiled "No, it's nothing."

The sound of the doorbell ringing caught their attention before the door was unlocked with a key and a grey haired man walked in.

"Hello. I'm home." Captain George Stacy smiled as he closed the door. Hit with the delicious aroma of food getting cooked, he turned towards the kitchen to see the two teens "Oh, hey, you two."

"Hi, dad! Welcome back." Gwen smiled and walked over to hug him. He returned the hug happily "Hey, darling. How's my sweetheart doing?"

"I'm good. Thanks, dad. How are you?" She pulled back.

"I'm good too. Thanks." He turned to Peter and smiled "Peter, you're here! I'm glad to see you, son."

Peter walked over with a smile and shook his hand "Hahahaha, I'm glad to see you too, Mr Stacy! It's been a while since we last met."

"Oh, don't try to act like a stranger with me, Peter. You and Gwen have known each other since you were kids. Just call me Uncle George like you used to."

"Uh, well..." He scratched his neck awkwardly, before giving up with a helpless smile "Alright. Sure thing, Uncle George."

"Atta boy." He patted his shoulder "Let me change into something more comfortable, then we can chat."

We walked to his own room to change, letting the two get back to preparing the dinner. George came back shortly, smiling when he saw them chatting while helping each other "You two need another extra set of hands?"

"Hahahaha, no, dad, it's okay. You can just rest a bit while we prepare the dinner, okay?"

"Alright. Just tell me if you need anything." He sat on the couch and opened the TV. Setting it on the news channel as he watched calmly. Gwen smiled "So, how was work today? Did anything exciting happen?"

"Oh, you know. Just the usual chaos of New York City. Fortunately, things are a lot easier with the help of those superheroes."

Peter smiled "You appreciate their help, I see. That's surprising."

"Why's that?"

"Most police officers don't seem to like superheroes. Saying they're just vigilantes and everything. I thought you would be the same."

"Eh, I know what you're talking about. I know a few of those kinds of guys myself. If it was me from before, I would act and say the same things. But to be honest, I can't help but admire young fellas who are trying to use their special gifts to help people and stop crime. And besides, I don't mind the lower workload either."

"Hahahaha, I'm glad to hear that. I couldn't help but pity them, since they're trying so hard to help people, but all they get in the end is ungratefulness. I guess that's why you're one of the best cops I know!"

"Hahahaha, I appreciate it, Peter! But seriously, you're right. Some of them are seriously unappreciated for the crazy things they deal with. God knows I don't want to go one on one with most of the supervillains they fight. But unfortunately, some people just don't want to understand."

He changed the channel, and a face that Peter was all too familiar with showed up on the screen "That Spider-Menace is still on the loose! I've had reports of him leading a limo into a construction site and not only nearly killing innocent civilians, but nearly burying a young man who was in the limo under concrete!"

"Speak of the devil." George sighed through his nose while Peter deadpanned "Talk about good timing."

George changed the channel again.

"There have been reports of unusual activities and attacks at Hell's Kitchen recently. Here is a word from some of the witnesses." The camera cut to a reporter who looked to the man standing beside her "Thank you, John.

Now, sir, do you have any idea what has been happening recently? Are these incidents the doing of the local gang members, or is there something else going on?"

"Oh, I've lived here to know what is the doing of gangs. And believe me, this ain't got nothing to do with the gangs." The man spoke spookily, lowering his volume and glancing around "Something very weird is causing all of this. Something... supernatural."

The rest of the conversation didn't give any decent information, but it did catch Peter's attention 'Hell's Kitchen? That's Daredevil's neighborhood. And the place that is filled with crime all day long.'

After a moment, he smirked 'Perfect place to visit for someone like me. I'll check what's been happening. Maybe even eat a few snacks while I'm at it.'

A while later, the food was ready. As George sat behind the dinner table, the two lovers began to prepare the dinner table. Once Gwen had set the dishes and everything, Peter brought in the food.

"...Jesus Christ..." George and Gwen looked at the fried chicken with wide eyes. Peter hadn't let her even peek at the finished product in the kitchen, so her shock was understandable. Because he really had cooked.

"These are the shiniest fried chicken I've ever seen in my entire life." Father and daughter gulped. The fried chicken pieces were shining like gold. They looked good enough to make a black man cry.

"Told you I would make some mean fried chicken." He sat once he set everything down "Now, let's enjoy the food. Have a taste!"

He waited for them to try it. They gulped again when they picked a piece each, because it crunched lightly just by being held. And once they bit into it, it was like an explosion of happiness right between their teeth and in their mouths.

The delicious crunch vibrated their teeth as the delicious taste sank into their taste buds. Causing their eyes to roll back and mouths to tingle. George leaned back on his chair, while Gwen leaned on her elbow on the table. Both of them chewing slowly to savor every bite as they tried to silence their groans, but to no avail. From the looks of it, the taste could make a grown black man cry too.

"So, is it good?" Peter smiled smugly. They didn't even answer with words. They both just gave a nice sign with their hands dismissively and kept their attention on their food. He chuckled and joined them without further ado. And immediately understood why they were acting as such. Because damn, he really had cooked.

After finishing everything, (not even sparing the fallen crumbles) including Gwen's Mac and cheese, they leaned back.

"Thanks for the food, you two. Both dishes were amazing. And Peter," George smiled, before looking at Peter "Feel free to stay over more often. In fact, please come over more often."

They laughed. Gwen smiled at her dad "Well, he will be coming over more often. Because... well, Peter and I are dating now, dad!"

His eyes widened "You are?! Seriously?!" When Gwen and Peter nodded, he smiled "Well, I'll be! You two finally got together?! Hahahaha I was wondering when it would finally happen! I seriously thought I would need to tell you myself at some point!"

"Dad!" Gwen blushed, making him laugh "What, it's the truth! It was so obvious that you two both liked each other but were trying to hide it and stay just friends! Hahahaha, I'm happy you two are finally together though."
