Chapter 56: Chapter 56:Thunder bolt spell

"What the... what the hell did you do?" Rael exclaimed in pure astonishment, staring at the headless remains of the titan.

"The spell! I cast the spell, Boss!" Xaphxan cried out, jolting from his initial shock. He couldn’t help but feel a rush of amazement and elation; for a moment, he completely ignored the dead numbness spreading through his hands as the realization hit him.

He who had always played the weakling had just cast a spell of such devastating power.

It was a dream come true. All of this had been achieved thanks to the figure standing there, staring blankly at the massive carcass of the Colosape. Looking at Rael, Xaphxan couldn’t help but feel a sudden surge of genuine gratitude. In that moment, a new resolve took root in his heart: he would remain loyal to this boss of his, no matter where the path led.

Rael’s expression stiffened as he stared at the carnage. "Hmm, I really have to master that manuscript by force," he mused. Witnessing the raw destruction of the thunderbolt had sparked a new obsession. He made a silent vow right then he would force himself to endure the mental strain of the Hephaestonian scrolls, no matter the cost, in order to increase his intelligence stat.

But at that exact moment...

BOOM.

ROAR!

Rael and Xaphxan snapped their gazes toward the distance, only to see the forest canopy buckling. Trees were tumbling and shattering into splinters like dry twigs as two more Colosapes thundered toward their position.

The one in the lead was a true monster, dwarfing the beast behind it. It stood two meters taller than the scout Xaphxan had just slain, its presence alone vibrating through the very air.

"Uh, Boss... I think that’s our cue to run, right?" Xaphxan stammered, his legs already beginning to tremble.

Rael narrowed his eyes. He knew full well that with the hateful glares the two Colosapes were sending their way, they would definitely chase them to the ends of the earth. Leading such monsters back toward his territory was out of the question.

"Nope," Rael replied, his voice cold and steady. He took a deliberate step forward, the greatsword twirling in his hand. "But I do hope you still have more of that in you."

"Just one!" Xaphxan exclaimed, his voice cracking with desperation.

"Well, that should do. Just aim at the big one and don’t miss!"

With that, Rael burst into a full sprint, charging headlong toward the incoming Colosapes. He was a blur of motion as he closed the distance, his greatsword trailing behind him, ready to meet the nine-meter titan.

"Shit, shit, shit! Damn it!" Xaphxan cursed, his tongue tripping over the words as he desperately began reciting the thunderbolt incantation once more.

Swoosh!

Watching the gap between him and the beasts vanish, Rael suddenly skidded across the dirt as he launched himself upward, twisting his body mid-air to unleash a glowing red arc of energy that whistled toward the nine-meter Colosape in the lead.

BOOM.

The titan swatted the projectile away with its lower arms, tanking the hit as it slammed its two massive upper fists into the earth where Rael had just been, aiming to smash the insect into a pulp. Though his attack had left a small, stinging red scar across the beast’s arm, Rael didn’t slow down; he had already pivoted his body mid-flight, heading directly toward the smaller Colosape following behind.

The lead Colosape whipped its tusked head around in fury. It reared back, raising all four arms high into the air before bringing them down with a terrifying force.

BOOM.

The raw impact slammed into the earth, creating a massive crater that sent shockwaves through the ground. Rael stumbled, losing his footing to the shockwave but he barely had time to recover. The second Colosape seized the opening, slamming a massive fist toward him. Rael managed to raise the flat side of his greatsword just in time to intercept the blow.

CRASH.

The force was overwhelming. Rael was sent flying through the air like a ragdoll, crashing violently into a thick tree. The wood splintered, nearly shattering under the weight of the impact as Rael slumped for a split second, the air knocked out of his lungs.

’What the fuck... was that ,a coordinated attack? Damnit, I should really stop underestimating these beasts’,Rael groaned. He moved on instinct, quickly rolling to the side just as the second Colosape rammed through the spot where he had been pinned, the impact pulverizing the remaining trunk.

"Tsk." Not wasting a single heartbeat, Rael immediately slashed his greatsword toward the beast’s exposed flank .

Pllirch!

With a sudden spray of blood, a red arc of energy slammed into the beast’s waist, carving a deep, jagged wound. The colosape roared in agony, its cry agitating the nine-meter leader even more. Eyes glowing with murderous intent, the titan lunged, charging toward Rael with enough force to level everything in its path.

But at that exact moment, a flash of deep blue light whistled through the air with astonishing speed, slamming directly into the leader’s broad back.

BOOM!

The nine-meter titan roared in agony as its entire body spasmed from the electrical surge. It ground to a halt, its charge broken, as it desperately tried to claw at its own back. Thick, acrid smoke rose from the wound, the flesh sizzling where the thunderbolt had struck.

Rael, seeing that Xaphxan’s strike had hit home, immediately leaped into the air. He poured almost all of his remaining aether reserves into the greatsword, the sword glowing with a red light as he prepared to perform a Great Bloodrend.

Swish!

With a blinding flash, a massive red arc of energy sped through the air. The leader, sensing the mortal danger of the approaching attack, tried to throw itself aside, but its muscles were still numbed and spasming from the thunderbolt.

Pllirch!

The attack sliced clean through the beast’s raised defensive arms before cutting deep into its exposed neck. The force was so immense it nearly decapitated the titan, leaving only tattered patches of skin and muscle to hold its tusked head onto its slumped shoulders.

Thud.

Its lifeless body slammed into the ground, a massive pool of its own blood beginning to spread beneath the hulking figure.

The remaining Colosape, already injured and bleeding, roared in a mix of rage and pure terror . But seeing its superior slaughtered, it turned and tried to scramble back into the depths of the woods. But there was no way Rael was letting it go;

With the last scrap of aether he had left, Rael whipped his greatsword through the air with a desperate, powerful throw. The heavy sword spun end-over-end before piercing deep into the retreating beast’s short left leg, slicing through the artery and bone causing it to crash into several trees as it skidded to a stop roaring in agony.

"Well, that was fun," Rael chuckled, though his breath was heavy. He wiped a smear of blood from his cheek, his eyes still shimmering with the fading heat of the battle lust. He stood over the carnage of the clearing, surrounded by the fallen titans, looking every bit the madman Xaphxan believed him to be.
