Master of Kaidan-Chapter 605: The More Outrageous, the More Interesting
On the not-so-spacious street, two mechas stood facing each other.
The twelve-meter-tall one, shiny and new, with a platinum color scheme, exuded a splendid and noble aura.
The twenty-meter-tall one, battle-damaged and smoke-stained, its armor cracked and the lenses shattered, appeared to have endured countless fierce battles.
But more eye-catching than these physical disparities was the clearly supernatural and eerie presence, like the flames that fiercely burned on the battle-damaged mecha, and the golden-white mecha that erupted in blinding golden light, their colliding auras almost tearing the sky apart.
No, not almost.
The sky truly split open!
The energies had collided to the extreme, and at that very moment when the spirits seemed to physically clash, the battle-damaged mecha moved first.
Exhibiting mobility that far surpassed its prior capabilities, the pilot roared in anger and performed a thrust with the beam sword.
But a serious Feng Xue, when not caught off-guard, found such a straightforward attack meaningless. With a simple sideways slide step, he easily dodged the assault—just one exchange, and he administered the tactical height adjustment to the battle-damaged mecha.
Both mechanical legs burst apart on command, yet the battle-damaged mecha seemed utterly unaffected. As the flame-like aura grew more intense, its thrusters exceeded their original power rating.
Feng Xue, feeling the steadily increasing pressure, was curious just how far this "Ideal Country’s" morale could push the limits. Relying on his mecha’s superior performance, he wasn’t in a hurry to kill this soldier, but with a twist of his hands, he easily decapitated the enemy and severed its arms.
The classic mecha combat move of chopping off limbs was complete, and with only a torso left, the mecha had lost all its weapons. But at that moment, the mecha’s shoulders and hips suddenly emitted a thick fog, followed by a red and blue light shooting out from within the smoke.
"Well, I’ll be, a Core Fighter? That’s a classic design," Feng Xue’s eyes narrowed, and with a spread of wings, Floating Cannons fired beams in rapid succession. But the pilot in the core fighter exhibited combat power far more terrifying than when operating the larger mecha. Incredible maneuverability, aerial acrobatics beyond human limits, and machine cannon fire comparable to a small caliber naval gun took Feng Xue by surprise.
"Is it that outrageous?" Feng Xue casually tossed salt into the cockpit storage compartment, spread his hands, and as Inner Strength flowed, he connected with the mecha’s power core.
A blood-red beam from the Floating Cannons fired at the pilot operating the Core Fighter. The pilot tried to evade as before, but this time, the red beam defied the fundamental logic of beam weapons, curving through the air and chasing from behind.
The blood light seemed to possess its own intelligence, doing more than simply chasing; it smartly blocked the Core Fighter’s avenues of evasion. Despite complex aerial maneuvers, a new blood light shot from the front.
"Boom!"
Under the assault of two No-thought Divine Powers, even the enhancement-stacked Core Fighter couldn’t withstand the crushing performance differential. It exploded into a burst of fireworks in the sky, and outrageously, the pilot within actually endured for two seconds before being incinerated.
"Is this what they call the power of spirit? Purely outrageous!"
Feng Xue smirked, scanning around to ensure there were no combatants left. Then, he activated the Mirage System and disappeared from what could not truly be called a battlefield in ruins.
...
Feng Xue, having escaped the battlefield, shut down the live drone but didn’t immediately return to the shelter. Instead, he pulled out nine packets the size of lychees from his waist pouch.
As he unwrapped the packets, bodies with a distinctly Chinese style expanded before him, and as a golden light lit up in the eyes of the mechs, a far from rigid AI voice sounded—
"Dragon Child squadron activated, please issue commands."
Feng Xue’s gaze swept over the Dragon Child Mechas, which were designed following the prototype concept of the AO-3 General-Purpose Variable Unmanned Mecha, and his lips curved slightly upwards.
These bodies were not Pseudo Artifacts; they were True Objects created through the "Follow the Map" Power, using designs from the Haotian Mirror. Their original purpose was to enhance the limits of the World’s mechs in a worldview without Mechas, but they happened to be suitable for use at that moment.
"On behalf of the Heavenly Court organization, engage in armed intervention against acts of war. Primary priority is self-preservation, secondary priority is to cease hostilities, and tertiary priority is to destroy the war machinery. The combat plan will be managed by the Haotian Mirror, granting level-two freedom of action and baseline personality armaments. Destroy the mech bodies if necessary."
"Understood." The voices of the nine Dragon Child Mechas and the Haotian Mirror echoed simultaneously in reality and in Feng Xue’s mind. The Mirage System was also activated, and the massive bodies vanished into thin air.
...
Quietly returning to the underground shelter, Feng Xue pulled out his phone and began to review the room’s surveillance footage to confirm that the "Non-static Image" he had left behind hadn’t given anything away. Only then did he cease his hijacking of the shelter’s surveillance, resuming the posture of a trembling transfer student.
He had more mecha squads in hand than just the Dragon Child, but as with most mechs brought from the cyber world to the real world that turned into Pseudo Artifacts, not all mechs were usable in this world. Even if all were created by Feng Xue in the real world, currently, only the Dragon Child series was compatible with this world’s rules.
"Although the technology of the Dragon Child is at least three generations ahead of this world’s mechs (consider this world’s mechs on par with the Original Mobile Suit, while AO-3 is on the level of the Super Space Fortress, even without the automatic piloting system), considering the Burst Seed situation among the local pilots, there might still be some losses. I must find a place to amass more mechs."
With that thought, Feng Xue began to consider whether to continue maintaining his student identity and establish something like a "Dexter’s Laboratory," then make a grand reveal when the whole world was searching for the Heavenly Court, transforming into a "Technological Genius Wunderkind" or some such oddity.
"Hmm, although it sounds outrageous, in a world where gods fly everywhere, the more outrageous, the easier it is to pull off."
Pondering, Feng Xue began to consider whether to continue his schooling here while digging out a military base underground, or to strive for success in the White Forest Country or the homeland of the Ideal Country.
"Right, choosing a more remote and underdeveloped small country isn’t a bad idea, but then the impact of the exposure would be much less. After all, the point of such exposure is to make it more explosive by being hidden in a bustling area. But with the high technological level in the Ideal Country, a revelation of a genius there wouldn’t be so eye-catching. So, should I go to White Forest Country, or..."
"What the hell?!"
As Feng Xue was planning his next move, a crude expletive came from a corner of the shelter, and instantly, including the teachers, all eyes turned that way.
Caught in these familiar and unfamiliar gazes, the student was quite embarrassed. After a moment of stiffness, he immediately said:
"Get on the net and take a look, someone’s posted the video from the industrial area online! That sound that came through the soundproofing earlier is from there!"
As soon as the student spoke, many with information devices began to pull out phones or tablets. Using the shelter’s network to connect to the outside world, although not as exaggerated as the student, Feng Xue still heard a chorus of "What the hell!" resonating inside the shelter.
