Chapter 2581: 2581. Gaining Attention

There was a lot of movement and a lot of material orders being brought to the wandering blacksmith’s personal workshop,

This caused rumors to spread rapidly.

The hero Walker is in isolation within the workshop.

Three of the best crafters there were in isolation with him.

Material order after material order being brought in as covered and protected finished products were delivered to the Genesis building.

Sudden excavation and underground expansion being done to the Genesis building.

All things that the people of Genesis heard and gravitated toward. Yet, they were not being given answers as to what was going on. Their curiosity was only growing by the moment.

The fact that no one was announcing the project was bringing even more curiosity. The people of Genesis knew very well that whatever went in their leadership was often clear with it. There would be announcements send through the communication guild so that clarity and honesty would always be supported.

This seemed like it began and had been forgotten or too busy for someone to stop and share the details.

Meaning that a new weapon better than anything else might be created. Someone said they thought that Walker was carving a bridge to the elemental planes. Some said that the crafters were building a massive golem to carry the city in to the sky or in case of war.

The more ridiculous the belief and idea the more likely it was that someone, especially children, were running around yelling it to the heavens.

When Walker came out to open the wandering blacksmith’s personal workshop, he was surprised to see a crowd of curious people. They had been waiting there for days, some even were there for weeks at this point.

While time had consumed the four as they worked, the only people who had managed to get in and pass on food and water to them had been those who knew them best. Walker’s family and the rest of the party understood how crafting worked. Delicate work and peace needed to be kept. Interruptions couldn’t be brought in and ruin the flow. But since they knew, they snuck in food even though Walker, the wandering blacksmith, Abe, and Jan barely responded or realized they had been handed food.

While comedic in a way, it was just more evidence that something important was being forged. Walker’s mother had even closed her main restaurant for a whole day to make sure they had eaten and to stand watching. The passion and intensity inspired her but also allowed her the time to be proud of her child. She felt the same way about her whole family now, all accomplished and constantly working toward their goals.

Weeks were short though. Walker had meditated for long periods of time before. But when he finally left the workshop and found all the people hanging around outside he could judge the length of time he’d been working. For Abe, Jan, and the wandering blacksmith it was also nothing new. They had dedication to their crafts.

The prowl didn’t know enough and the others in the party hadn’t broken the announcement. Instead, Walker had been left with all that responsibility. Even as he decided to take the remaining parts for assembly at the new Genesis building underground mapping room, which was better called a hall, he now had to put out a statement.

"Everyone, I will hold a small speech about what I and three of our greatest craftsmen have been working on at the Genesis building within the hour." He felt tired from the constant focus, but Walker had long learned to keep himself in recovery. Sleep wasn’t even really needed for him at this point. Whether it was because he had reached higher levels or if it was simply because of his racial abilities it didn’t matter. Walker could always keep pushing beyond the limits he had once believed himself to possess.

This made a large buzz in the street as people began spreading the news. It was mainly crafters who wanted to know the details of what amazing new creation light appear. However, Walker was surprised that other representatives in the Genesis council hadn’t told anyone what he was trying to make. He’d explained his entire quest to them.

It was a good idea not to tell them though. By not telling people and letting this natural curiosity blossom, people would be able to slowly become more invested in the current state of Genesis and the future. They would also be able more naturally spread news in a positive method allowing for children to become the very same as they grew up.

It set an example for everyone. A desire to grow and a desire to look beyond.

As Walker checked quickly, he found the wandering blacksmith, Abe, and Jan all sitting calmly. They were looking back at the work they had done. This episode of crafting had not been enlightening in the aspect that they had created a new alloy or carved a brand new rune.

Instead, it had melded techniques together that could change the path of crafting entirely. Allowed their minds to begin considering how their respective forms of crafting could better cooperate to look for better and more unique creations.

Due to this, they would most likely spend weeks if not months within the crafting guild sharing new knowledge or testing new techniques. While not a direct desired result, it was perfect.

This wasn’t going to be the time for more in depth thinking. "We need to present what we made and how it’s about to be assembled to everyone." Walker felt a little bad for pushing them but this was just how it would work. They had to present their creation and also explain the benefits.

As they had worked there was so much more that Walker had considered. Weather could be shown on this globe map. They could show much of the current terrain difficulties due to season as well. All of that would be immensely valuable for travelers, especially merchants. It would also allow for tracking of larger groups of monsters which was another seasonal risk.

Besides all this, new areas could be marked for in depth maps to be created on paper and copied. Trends in mana flow or monster migrations could be recorded more accurately. Even other aspects of plant growth and why they might grow in specific locations related to weather and such.

His kind stuck in these things while he practically carried the other three with wind mana for speed. A larger crowd had moved in to the Genesis building surrounding courtyard. The massive square was full of people but it was a good thing.

Without hesitation, Walker opened his mouth and spoke.

"People of Genesis. Over the past weeks we four, forgmaster, master carpenter, master rune carver, and one of the heroes have worked to create a map."

"Not just a map, an entire globe with several mana cores allowing communication to smaller magical tools which will communicate the manas in an area and specifically the manas leaving the bridges to the elemental planes. This will allow us safer areas to travel and also to venture in to those places when the time is right."

"We can learn more about our world and the ways it moves naturally. There will be more depth and research gained by this. We will also be able to understand dangers, weather, and natural phenomena happening in real time to send better assistance to villages or travelers."

He heard more buzz in the square. He noticed that everyone seemed shocked and surprised. That was until Walker raised his hands and used manas to replicate the wit creation.

"As you see, my mana can be manipulated to make map, but this map will be made of thousands of moving parts to draw in mana around it to look like the terrain we are speaking about and planning around."

Now mages and many others looked shocked. They didn’t expect that it would be so in depth. " Even life, death, space, and natural mana can be sensed with this tool. It is not just a small project, it is something to help shape Genesis safely for years to come. Something that can be and will be improved as our knowledge and skills grow too."

That was all everyone needed to hear as Walker set foot inside the Genesis building. He wanted to complete this project right this moment. Allow the final rune formation connections and take their success to the prowl outside waiting.

If he did that the morale within the city would skyrocket allowing for more growth. Allowing for happier people. They all needed this to keep improving. To keep moving forward even with struggles of every day life appearing. He just needed to put the pieces together.
