Chapter 163: Chapter 163 - To Dance

There was no strategy or preamble. They simply flew to the location.

When they arrived, the scene was not even remotely special. They found the throne. It was literally just a throne. No palace, not even a house. A throne in the middle of the open air, sitting on a wide branch, with a pixie on it.

The queen looked up as Seyen approached. Her expression was calm, even bored.

"Queen Nalare!" Seyen declared loudly, her voice carrying across the clearing. "I will kill you, and become the new queen!"

Lumi scanned the alleged queen.

[Queen Nalare - Level 54]

Stronger than Seyen, but not by much.

Nalare stood slowly from her throne. She didn’t look surprised. She didn’t look worried. She looked mildly annoyed.

"Another one." She said, her tone flat. "How many challengers is that this month? Five? Six?"

Seyen snarled. "I’m not like the others."

"They all say that." Nalare replied. She raised her wand. "Let’s get this over with."

Seyen and her two lieutenants immediately engaged, launching spells without hesitation. Fire, lightning, bursts of dark energy. They came at the queen from three angles simultaneously.

Nalare didn’t move. She raised one hand, and a barrier materialized around her, absorbing the attacks effortlessly.

Then she countered.

"Exhaustion Curse."

A wave of dark energy spread outward from her position, washing over everyone, the nearly thousand fairies, affecting them all. Lumi felt it hit him immediately.

[Debuff Applied: Exhaustion Curse]

[Stamina drain increased. Movement speed reduced by 20% for 5:00]

Lena gasped beside him, feeling the same effect.

But that was just the opening move.

Subordinates flooded out from seemingly nowhere. From behind trees, from beneath the platform, from the shadows themselves. Dozens of pixies, all loyal to the queen, all rushing to defend her.

Seyen’s forces met them head-on. The two sides clashed in midair, spells flying, claws slashing, blood spraying.

And then more pixies arrived.

From every direction, new groups appeared. Some were clearly aligned with neither side, just watching from a distance. Others immediately picked a side and threw themselves into the fight.

One pixie rushed directly to Seyen, who was locked in combat with the queen. Despite there being an active battle, she began blabbering instead of taking action. "Make me vice-queen after you win and I’ll join you!" She gestured to herself, and then the group of about twenty pixies behind her.

Before Seyen could respond, another pixie cut in, leading their own group. "No, make me vice-queen and I’ll follow you! That one can be third in command or something!"

The two pixie groups immediately started arguing with each other, completely ignoring the battle happening around them.

"I asked first!"

"So what? My group is stronger!"

"Your group? Half of them look like they’re about to run away!"

"At least my group isn’t led by a coward!"

And then even the queen added her own offer, her voice cutting through the chaos. "Join me and I’ll grant you resources! You know I’ll win. Anything I offer is more than that traitor Seyen could ever give! She has no chance of running!"

One of the neutral groups hesitated, then scattered, joining random groups, not even aligned with either the Queen or Seyen. One of the pixies even took advantage of the chaos to start blatantly arming a death ritual. Another threw explosives at random.

It had become a brutal, chaotic free-for-all. Alliances formed and broke within seconds. Pixies switched sides mid-fight based on who was winning. Some groups fought each other instead of an established enemy, settling old grudges in the middle of the battle.

Everyone had their own interests and that was simply the pixie way.

As for Lumi, he kept a close watch on the overall situation, directing Lena on where to position herself.

As humans, they needed to be careful. They needed to fight in just the right places so they would be clearly associated with Seyen’s faction. They did not want to be mistaken for random humans who had wandered into the fight.

Lumi purposely targeted the weaker pixies, alongside Lena. It was just more efficient for experience.

As he caught the attention of one and engaged it, the pixie cast a curse directly at him.

"Mental Fog!"

A haze settled over Lumi’s mind. His thoughts slowed. His reaction time dulled.

[Debuff Applied: Mental Fog]

[Casting speed reduced by 25% for 2:00]

"Holy arrows!" At Lena’s approaching attack, she forced the pixie to abandon the follow-up and teleport away. Lumi had already anticipated the movement. His Lance of Light split into several lances, each traveling to a different likely escape route.

Pierce-

The lance punched through the pixie’s wing. The pixie screamed, blood spraying as the wing tore. It started falling, unable to stay airborne.

Lumi was about to finish it, but another pixie on Seyen’s side swooped in, slashing the wounded one’s throat as it fell.

Lena saw one of Seyen’s pixies get heavily injured, bleeding from multiple wounds and struggling to stay in the air. She raised her wand slightly, then hesitated. She looked at Lumi. "Should I heal them?"

Lumi shook his head.

Lena lowered her wand. Right. They weren’t actually allies.

Lumi glanced across the battlefield.

Perhaps the dark magic was new to him, but Lance of Light was not new to him. He’d been using it since his first life. He knew very well that light magic was extremely effective against crowds.

And this was definitely a crowd.

He turned to Lena. "Protect me. I’m going to spam casts."

Lena’s eyes lit up. She stepped even closer, positioning herself between him and the nearest threats. "Okay~!"

Lumi raised his wand and began casting.

"Lance of Light!"

"Lance of Light!"

"Lance of Light!"

"Lance of Light!"

"Lance of Light!"

He focused on nothing but frequency. Though it was mostly limited, the core skill he obtained with Chief Knight Alice came in handy to speed it up.

The thing about Lance of Light was that it was a homing spell that created multiple lances per cast. The key word was homing. That meant precise aiming was unnecessary. The spell would find targets on its own. And there were tons of targets.

The trick to avoiding Lance of Light was physical dodging, using the spell’s limited course-correction against it. Teleporting worked, but it forced repositioning, which had two issues.

One, it would interrupt the combat flow.

Second, teleporting in the wrong direction would still end up with the lance homing back into you.

With nearly two spells per second, Lumi created chaos across the battlefield. Pixies were forced to dodge, to teleport, to break off from their fights to avoid being hit.

Experience started flowing in from assists.

That quickly caught the attention of some of the elite pixies. Two of them, both clearly Second Rank, broke away from their fights and rushed toward Lumi.

Lena’s eyes flashed. She stepped directly into their path.

If they wanted to dance, they could dance with her.
