Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 404: Revealing The Truth
(Author’s POV)
The dinner went normally after that, without much of a hiccup.
Just that, Amy kept serving Myra different dishes and her plate was always piled up to the brim. She was being so attentive that, if Myra ate two pieces of something, she kept giving her that in addition to the other food items. At one point, Myra felt her stomach would burst open.
Sebastian also tried to make small conversations, asking her about which major she was studying and what her future goals were. When he got to know that she was a business major, he was thoroughly impressed. Amy, with a hint of pride, remarked, "Seb, it is not even the full thing. Myra~ .... has earned a full scholarship. Isn’t it great?"
"Full scholarship? That’s remarkable, Myra. You must be in the top three of your class, at the very least. WOW, just wow," Pearl commented, her eyes sparkling. "So~ .... What is your rank?"
Myra pursed her lips and said softly, "Just like you said, top three."
"Ohhh~ .... don’t be so modest, Myra. Actually, she is the topper in her entire class," Amy revealed.
"Really? That’s insane," Pearl added. Sebastian acknowledged with a nod as well.
Ezra Garcia neither tried to converse nor showed any interest in even listening to them. He quietly ate his food, as if he were just following orders.
When all of them were done with their dinner, Pearl finally asked, "Mom~ .... now tell us what you wanted to say? I have been dying of curiosity." She had an inkling of what her mother was going to tell, though it was all wrong.
From Pearl Garcia’s point of view, Amy brought Myra, a total outsider, and kept praising her endlessly because she wanted to set her up with her brother, Ezra. In her eyes, it was sort of a formal meeting for her future sister-in-law. She was very excited. At least that’s what was going on in her mind.
Amy became unconsciously nervous hearing her daughter’s question.
It was finally time.
Time to tell her family, and most importantly, to tell Myra what relationship they actually have.
Sebastian was anticipating her words, too. She hadn’t even told him anything about this and was being all secretive, which was something she had never done before.
Clearing her throat, Amy started, "Hmmm~ .... there is something incredibly important I wanted to tell you all."
Myra felt uncomfortable. She wasn’t part of the family, so it wasn’t appropriate for her to be there. She thought she was, involuntarily, eavesdropping. She didn’t have much choice and cut in, "Umm~ .... sorry to interrupt you, ma’am, but I don’t think I should be listening to this. After all, it is your family’s matter."
She got up from her chair and said, "Thank you for the lovely dinner, Mrs. Garcia, Mr. Garcia. It was my pleasure to meet you all. Well then~ .... I will be taking my leave."
She was in the middle of walking off when Amy stated, "Myra~ .... you can’t leave just yet. What I want to tell, it is something that you need to know as well." Her expression was serious, though internally she was brimming with anxiety.
Myra couldn’t understand; her face was etched with an unusual expression. And not just her, all the others donned the same look. Even Ezra’s eyebrows were arched.
With a deep breath, Amy started, taking Myra’s hands once again, "Myra~ .... you~ .... remind me of my old self. You are just like how I was when I turned twenty. Not just your habits~ .... or your allegories, but your face too. It is just how I used to look in my youth." She tried to sound as calm as possible.
Myra was confused by her words; she looked weirded out by it. She and Amy looked nothing alike. Not even a single feature matched with another. Not a strand of hair was the same.
Amy could tell what she was thinking and said, "You must be thinking, we don’t look alike, so what is she blabbering about. Actually~ .... due to an accident, a long time ago~ .... I had to undergo a major surgery, a plastic surgery. This~ ... is not how I originally looked."
Everyone, except Sebastian, was left speechless by the sudden revelation.
"Mom~ ...... what are you saying?" Pearl questioned, her eyes a bit teary. "What had happened to you? Why are you talking like that? Did you really~ ...... Was this what you wanted to tell us?" Things weren’t going as she had thought, which made her inexplicably tense.
"Pearl, my child, I am sorry for never sharing this with you," Amy comforted Pearl. "But this is not what I called you here for." She once again turned her attention back to Myra, "The truth is, before marrying Sebastian, before even meeting him, I was in a relationship with someone with whom I had a child~ .... a lovely daughter~ ...."
Myra sensed something from her words. Her alertness was at its peak. A sense of dread spread inside her as her face went pale. She jumped in, "Ma’am~ .... I am sorry. But I need to go now. My parents, my family~ .... they must be waiting for me." She hurriedly got up from the chair.
"Myra~ .... Please~ .... listen to what I have to say," Amy urged her to stay. But Myra’s subconscious mind was screaming, literally screaming, telling her to leave. She didn’t want to hear anything. She just wanted to go home. Back to her mom, Sandra Miracle, and her dad, William Miracle.
"Please~ .... Mrs. Garcia~ ...." Myra didn’t let Amy touch her and didn’t even meet her gaze. She scurried out of the room, her thoughts racing. She was in her flight mode.
Sebastian had more or less guessed what was going on. As Amy was about to chase after Myra, he held her wrist and asked, "Amy~ .... we need to talk."
Myra dashed into the corridor. She just wanted to get out of this place.
Yelena, who was dining with her grandparents in the open area, saw her running and got up to call her. But Diana’s sharp words forced her to sit down. "What are you doing? Getting up in the middle of a meal. Have you lost all your manners?"
