Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 420: You are~ ..... you are ....
(Author’s POV)
Brave told her what was necessary and omitted the gory part on purpose. It wasn’t a very pleasant thing to say or to listen to. He knew she was scared of the fact that he and his entire family were werewolves. That’s why she, with her family members, ran away overnight. He wouldn’t disclose such gruesome details to her.
Myra listened to him carefully. After he stopped talking, a heavy silence hung in the air. She recalled seeing a blurry, fuzzy figure walking toward her. So, it wasn’t a dream. She wasn’t dazed. It was Brave who came to rescue her.
A lump settled in her throat as she said, her speech came out hoarse, "Thank you~ ... Mr. Everests. Thank you for saving my life." Tears pooled in her eyes.
Brave didn’t utter anything; his eyes remained fixated on Myra’s ashen, pallid face. His heart tightened. He kept remembering the state he found her in, and that made his heart wrench over and over again. His mind was clogged with tons of questions he wanted to ask her. Starting from the mate word he had uttered without knowing. But seeing her like this, he couldn’t just say anything.
Myra was flustered by his unblinking stare. The deafening surroundings adding to it as well. But there was one question still lingering in her mind. ’How did Brave Everests find her in the first place?’ That was the ultimate question.
In the car, though mistakenly, she had called Alaric’s number and back in that shabby, ominous cottage, the place where she was taken to, Wyatt Long had also called Alaric Everests. She was one hundred per cent sure it was Alaric’s voice. So, why did Brave come instead? How did he even know about her?
She voiced this out to him once again, her tone polite, distant, "But~ .... Mr. Everests~ .... you still haven’t told me~ .... one thing. How did you~ .... find me? Did~ ... did Alar~ic~ .... *ahem ahem* .... Mr. Alaric Everests sent you~?"
Brave was about to say something when a knock on the door interrupted them. The next second, the door slid open, and a familiar figure walked in, their stride graceful, polished.
Seeing that Myra had woken up, a look of surprise flashed across the newcomer’s face, as they said, "Ms. Miracle~ .... I see that you have finally awakened. That’s good to see. How are you feeling now?" With slow, deliberate steps, they stood beside Brave.
Myra was puzzled as well as dumbfounded to see the person. She wasn’t expecting to see her at all, "You are~ .... you are Eli~ ... Elisa Queens~ ...."
"Yeah, we meet again after the banquet. Although not in very ideal circumstances," Elisa said, her lips gracing a polite, curt smile. Wearing a simple yet elegant white dress, she stood beside Brave, like she was staking her claim on him. She then continued, "Uhhh~ .... did I interrupt something important?"
Brave answered her without looking, "My~ .... Ms. Miracle was asking about how I found her."
"Ohhh~ .... that~ .... Ms. Miracle~ ... actually, it was I who called for Mr. Everests," Elisa confessed without batting an eye.
"Huhh?" Myra was perplexed. Anyone could tell that by her face.
Elisa took a seat beside Brave, making herself comfortable as she started, "You know what happened to Chairman Larson. I was keeping an eye on all the suspects around him. That’s when I stumbled upon those kidnappers of yours. I have been keeping track of them and found that they were doing some shady stuff. I was in the middle of following them, but suddenly my car broke down. That’s when I met~ .... him." She pointed towards Brave and cozied up to him as she placed her covered hands
Myra looked at Brave, who then added, "Yes, I was bound to the airport and on my way when I met Secretary Queens. Luckily, we found you~ .... in time," saying this, he moved away from her slightly.
There were swamp of questions going through Myra’s mind. She was confused by the explanation, even suspicious of it, but right now she lacked the energy to ask more questions. She was really tired and was feeling drowsy as well.
All of a sudden, she asked, "How much time had passed since the~ .... since the incident?"
"It has been around eighteen hours since you lost consciousness," Elisa told her.
Myra’s eyes widened at her words. The only thing that struck in her mind was the chaos at her home. William and Sandra must be really worried. And Wendy, Yelena~ .... They both must be searching for her all over the place.
She looked for her phone hastily, leaning towards the table beside the bed. Her body was already weak, so she lost her balance. Brave noticed her distress, got up at once and went by her side in the blink of an eye. He placed his right hand on her back carefully and his left hand on her shoulders. Her body was now leaning against his as he asked, "What happened? Do you need something, hmm?"
"My~ .... my phone~ .... I need to call my parents and my sister~ ... and tell them," Myra spoke, her voice weak.
Elisa watched their intimate position, a vicious smirk playing on her face as she told her, "We didn’t find your phone there, Ms. Miracle. Here~ .... You can use mine." She got up, gestured for Brave to get to the side and helped Myra instead.
Myra didn’t waste time and dialled William’s number. As the phone was ringing, she said, "I need some privacy~ .... can you please~ ...."
"Ohhh~ ... of course. Mr. Everests, let’s go out," Elisa took Brave’s arms and walked out.
Brave kept on looking back at Myra. Once outside, he shook Elisa’s hand off and said, "Secretary Queens, I don’t think I permitted you to get close." His voice was cold. He then added, "What happened to those abductors? Where are they now?"
Elisa bit her lips, her eyes lowered as she feigned innocence, "Mr. Everests, I called for backup, but before they arrived, the place caught fire. I tried to stop it, but unfortunately, the fire was massive, and it burned down." Saying this, she removed her black velvet opera gloves and showed Brave her splotchy, leathery hands.
