Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 458: The New, Handsome Guy Part 1
(Author’s POV)
"Thank you, Myra. I am so grateful that you gave me this chance," Amy said, her voice choking at the end. Myra remained expressionless, blankly staring at her while she poured her heart out, "When I heard you were in a brutal accident, I felt my world collapsing. I thought~ .... I thought after finding you, I had lost you once again." As her words finished, she was crying, painful sobs escaped her mouth.
Myra tried to show no emotions, but her grip tightened on either side. She had countless questions she wanted answers to. In that moment, she wanted to scream and shout, letting it all out. Her resentment, her disappointment, her fears. She has lost count of how many times she felt inadequate, thinking that her family abandoned her at birth.
If they hated her so much, why did they not just kill her when she was born? Why did left her alone in this cruel, bloodthirsty world? In the orphanage, after turning three, Pamela, the then-warden and her tormentor, always used to remind her and other orphans how useless they were, how trashy they must be to be left behind. They were labelled as unwanted, disposable, and whatnot.
For a toddler, such words had last impression. Even to this day, after having a loving family and caring friends, the thought of being left behind haunted her. She hasn’t expressed this feeling to anyone, ever, but it has been gnawing at her insides.
But now, the one claiming to be her biological mother, Amy, watching her sobbing and apologizing, showing concern for her well-being. It all felt like a joke to her. Because Amy wasn’t putting on an act, she was genuine, Myra could tell. The conflicting feelings in her chest were squeezing her heart.
The silence between them stretched as neither of the two spoke for a while. After what felt like god knows how long, Myra finally said, "Mrs. Garcia~ .... You wanted to explain yourself? Then~ ... let’s get this over with."
Her cold words poured like a bucket full of ice water on Amy. She was left speechless for a while. She pressed her lips together, trying to stay collected, to stop her whimpering. After a second or two, she sighed and started, "Myra~ ... your father and I~ ....

(Amy’s POV)
*Twenty One Years Ago*
"Did you see that?" my friend, Perry, said excitedly.
"Sssshhhh~ .... lower your volume. It’s the library," I whispered, gesturing for her to sit and then talk.
"Ooopsss~ ... got a bit excited, I guess," she mumbled as she settled in the chair beside me. She dragged her seat, the screeching sound grabbing everyone’s attention. We looked around, apologizing for the disturbance. ’Perry, I tell you.’
"So, what was I telling you~ .... yeah~ ... did you see the commotion out at the entrance?" she asked again. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Nope," I answered truthfully, busy concentrating on my Concept of Physics.
"OFFFF COURSEE, you won’t. You have been holed up in the library for hours," Perry exaggerated. It has barely been one and a half hours. She continued, leaning forward, "Apparently, a really dashing guy came for admission. Everyone has been gushing over him, lining up outside the teacher’s room to see which class he is going to be put in."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head, trying to block out her nonsense. She is my friend, and I love her, but when she starts talking about useless things like handsome dudes and Prince Charmings, I get a headache. I don’t give a damn about those things at all. I stay miles away from such topics.
"Perry, why are you not there then?" I queried.
"I was, then I thought of you and came to get you," she said.
"Forget it. I ain’t going anywhere," I turned her down instantly.
"Hey, Lia~ ...." She said, her voice a pitch louder.
"Ssssshhhh~ ... Perry," I gestured to keep quiet.
The librarian came and glared at us. With a frown, she said, "You two are disturbing others. Step out."
I pressed my lips, "Sorry, Ms. Walker, it won’t happen again." The lady remained adamant and kicked the two of us out.
I bored my eyes at Perry as she stuck her tongue out. She took my arm and mumbled, "Now that you are finally free, let’s go to the teacher’s office."
"Ahhh~ ... nahh. Not interested," I dismissed.
"Lia"
"Perry"
"Arghhhh~ ... you won’t come?"
"Nahh"
"Fine, I will~ ... I will~ .... I will sit on the floor and start crying," she feigned a threat. My mouth twitched as I urged, "Go ahead. Do it." I know she won’t be doing it. For a random boy. Nahhhhh~~~~~~
Her brows wrinkled as she licked her lips, contemplating something. To my surprise, or you can say shock, she settled her butt on the floor, her legs stretching. She was about to start her act when I covered her mouth and relented, "Okay, fine~ ... don’t start. I will go with you."
Perry giggled and got up from the floor. She dusted her skirt and linked our arms once more, "You should have said this sooner."
Poking my inner cheek with my tongue, I asked, "But why are you pressing me so much. If you are interested, you can go alone."
"Ohhooo, Lia, you are so silly. I want to set you two up," she said nonchalantly. "A handsome guy and a beauty like you, what a deadly combo."
My steps halted, "I am not going then. You know I don’t like all this."
"Heyyy~ ... you are forbidden to back out. At least take a look at him," she urged me.
"Perryyyyy~~~~~"
"Amelia~~~~~~~ all you know is studying or studying. We are in high school now, and you haven’t ever dated. So many guys have approached you, and you have turned down every single one of them. I don’t want you to be alone. I want you to find your true love. You are missing out on so much," she said.
"Precisely, because we are in high school now, all this boys’ stuff would only distract me. Let’s not waste time," I told her.
But despite my repeated no’s, she dragged me to the teacher’s office. When we reached there, most of the crowd had already dispersed. Perry asked someone, "Where is the newbie guy?"
