Chapter 474: Caught Up In A Web Of Yet Another Memory

(Myra’s POV)

I don’t know how much time has passed, but it feels like an eternity. I peered open my eyes the next second, and this time, the scene completely flipped. It was no longer pitch black. It was dark, but visibility wasn’t bad.

"Arrrggghhhh~ ... ughhhh~ ..." as I tried to look around the place, gauge the situation, my head, it buzzed again. It was as if someone was pounding something over it. It is killing me right now. I took a moment, composed myself with breathing exercises~ .... Inhale ...... exhale ... inhale ... exhale. Though the ache didn’t vanish, it surely minimized to some extent.

I tried to focus once again, but my eyes darted all over the place. Realization dawned on me as my brows furrowed at the familiar landscape. ’Why am I here~ ... ag~ain, huhh?’ I recalled I had seen this very place in one of my many dreams/nightmares. It was the same place where Lia, a.k.a. Amy, confessed her heartfelt feelings to Denver, a.k.a. my biological father.

So, the earlier screaming and howling, it was just inside the dream. I sighed, feeling less anxious. But why am I seeing this all of a sudden?

My question was answered after just a few seconds, when I saw a dark figure walking from the opposite side. My eyes squinted automatically to get a clear picture. But I didn’t recognize the person, not at all.

It was a woman~ ... she looked young~ .... might be around my age, but she was dressed up rather differently. She was wearing a red polka dotted Rah-rah mini skirt and a white top with long collars.

She stood at the very spot the couple had been sitting last time. She kept looking at her flashy watch, seeming to be waiting for someone. Her high ponytail jounced left and right as her head wobbled around.

After a while, we both heard footsteps. They were laid back yet clearly imposing. Her head tilted to the side. When she saw the person, a smile~ .... a crinkling smile appeared on her glossy, cherry painted lips. I followed her gaze as she walked towards the person with an extra spring in her steps.

She pounced on him, throwing herself in his arms, her skirt as well as her hair swaying. The person~ .... she had been hugging, caught her firmly, tightening his hand around her waist. I couldn’t see his face due to the black hoodie he was wearing, but my eyes skittered to his forearm. There was a tattoo. It seemed like a weird symbol, which I haven’t seen before.

Anyways, the next second, I heard the woman’s voice, as she cooed, her voice like melted sugar, "Halo~ .... you came."

The one named ’Halo’ just hummed, as he buried his face in the crook of the woman’s neck, taking in her scent. After a moment, they pulled away. Staring into each other’s eyes, she said, coquettishly, "What took you so long~ ...?"

He didn’t answer; instead, she added, "Is it because of her?" A scowl flashed across the woman’s face. "That bi~ ..."

"Ssshhh~ ... relax, Vi," he finally uttered. This voice, I was sure I had heard it somewhere, but I couldn’t remember who it belonged to.

My eyes were locked onto the pair as they continued their conversation. Halo said, "Why are you spoiling your mood by thinking about her, hmm? Not worth it all." He then went onto kissed the back of her hand, when a loud voice pulled their attention, as well as mine, "VIENNA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"

I turned my head, vision zeroing in on the person the voice belonged to. "Huhh? She looks familiar~ ...." I mumbled then snapped when I realized it was Lia~ ... I mean, it was Amelia or Amy, my birth mother. So, this was yet another fragment of Amy’s memories.

My face wrinkled looking at her face. She looked rather disorganized. Unlike the dream before, her hair was unkempt now, and her eyes had bags under them. She was wearing mismatched clothes, and she looked haggard, young but still exhausted. I stepped forward to be by her side, but as it was just a vision in my dream, I couldn’t do much.

’Wait, she called that woman, Vienna? Her elder sister? My aunt?’ my eyes did a quick scan of that woman’s face. Despite being sisters, they looked nothing alike. She was staring at Amy with a dumbfounded expression.

Amy, while marching forward, asked again, "Sister Ena, what are you doing at this place?" Her eyes held doubts. She then glanced at the other person. Just like me, she too couldn’t see his face, so she asked, "And, who is he?"

"I~ .... I~ ...." Vienna hesitated. There was something close to panic etched on her face. But she managed to mutter, "I just came with my boyfriend. Why~ .... Why did you come here? Your condition~ .... your body hasn’t recovered yet, Lia. You shouldn’t have walked up so high. It is bad for your health." She sounded genuinely concerned as she walked towards Amy.

"This is my and Denver’s secret place," her answer was for Vienna, but her gaze remained fixated on the guy. "Sister, how did you find this spot?" She inquired.

"This~ ...." Vienna glanced at the guy, her cheeks flushed as she said, "My boyfriend brought me here. Ohh~ ... I swear I didn’t know this place held such memories of you. Now~ .... It’s getting late. You should probably go back and rest." She urged her to leave.

Amy felt something odd, and so did I. This Vienna, my supposed aunt, her behaviour came off weird. Pulling her hand away, Amy created some distance between them and said, "Are you not going to introduce your boyfriend to me?"

Vienna licked her lips as she said, "He~ ... he is a shy one, total introvert. When it is time, I will definitely do a formal introduction." A coy smile tugged on her lips.

Amy didn’t back out. She said, "It’s okay. It is just a hey. Nothing burdensome." Her eyes never left the guy who hadn’t uttered a single word as of yet.

Vienna grabbed Amy’s hand a bit tightly as she said, "I said~ ... not now, Amelia."

Amy sensed something was strange, but decided to back out. She then mumbled, "Okay, as you wish. Sis, can you take me back? I am a bit tired."

"Uhhh~ ... umm~ .... Of course, I will," Vienna said, but her expression was one of reluctance. As she turned around, Amelia ran towards the man, and without giving any of them a moment, she took his hoodie off, revealing his face.
