Chapter 480: A Mere Coincidence Or Intentional?

(Author’s POV)

Tension was rising between Fabian and Dion as the two of them glared at each other with crystal animosity. Wendy, biting her nails anxiously, darted her eyes back and forth. They both were candidates for the position of her sister’s future boyfriend. If they started a fight here, it would give a really bad impression in front of Myra. Plus, it will cause a scene. At least she thought like that.

Myra exhaled a sigh and said, the throatiness in her voice was gone, "Fabian~ .... I appreciate you for helping my father. You must have gone through so much hassle for us. Thank you."

"Helping you or Uncle Will is not a hassle for me. It’s what I should do," Fabian replied with a smile. "After all, I promised to take care of you."

Dion, who hadn’t lost his composure, felt a sudden ick when he saw them conversing. ’I really want to rip that irritating grin off of that sly fox,’ Drey groaned inside him, clawing inside, clearly pissed off. From the start, Fabian’s behaviour has always rubbed him the wrong way.

As he was busy listening to his wolf, Myra shifted her eyes to meet his golden greens, "And~ ... Dion~ .... I am thankful to you, too, for bringing Wendy here safely. You even missed your class. I apologize for that."

"Nothing is as important as you," Dion was one step ahead, as he stroked her hair affectionately. His eyes were brimming with feelings. Honestly, seeing Myra being so lenient, he was trying his luck.

The touch made Myra shudder for a fraction of a second, but soon the goosebumps moment turned into something comforting. With every gentle stroke, Myra could feel the lethargy disappearing bit by bit.

Ever since Amy and she talked, whenever she slept, she saw a fragment of Amy’s past memories. She had seen her birth mother’s struggle, her depressive state. In her last dream, she even saw Amy (Amelia) try to commit suicide. It was painful for her to watch because that’s the only thing she could do. She couldn’t touch, nor could anyone hear her. She felt so helpless in that moment. That gave her another kind of trauma. She never wanted anyone to go through with that level of pain.

So, this time, when she woke up, she had decided to forgive everyone. Amy and the Everests’ brothers. She wanted to start over. As for Nigel and his family, they weren’t going to be spared, of course. That was a different matter.

Fabian couldn’t stand still. He walked to the other side of the bed briskly and called for Myra, "Myra~ ... guess what I brought for you?" He raised his hand to show fancy looking paper bag, his eyes crinkling, "Vanilla-flavour cupcakes."

"WOAH~ .... Isn’t this from that famous bakery? The one with a long, endless waiting line? Prof Stephens, how did you even get that? Their cupcakes are the bestsellers and are always sold out," Wendy remarked, her mouth ready to salivate, her eyes full of admiration as she gave him two thumbs up.

Fabian smiled at her and said, "I was just passing by that bakery and recalled my and Myra’s second meeting back in Damona. So, I bought them. There are plenty of cakes. You should have some, too, Wendy." He glanced at Myra and asked, "Do you remember that day, Myra?" Her voice was soft.

"Yeah, you helped me then as well. And even forgot those extra pastries in my bag," Myra said, recalling the incident.

Wendy was hit with a sudden memory and chimed in, "OHHHHH~ .... I remember that too. So~ ... those were from you, Prof. Stephens. I thought sis had brought the extra ones for me, so I ate them." She smiled while showcasing her pearl white teeth. "Sorry, I didn’t know."

"I didn’t forget those. They were a tiny little present from my side," Fabian answered smoothly.

Myra was a bit taken aback. She remembered his words at that time. He definitely said he forgot those.

Wendy, on the other hand, blew a whistle in her mind, ’After seeing his rival, the shy one, who always took the backseat, has finally left the cocoon to defend his place. Interesting. Ahhhh~ ... This is so fun to watch.’ If there were popcorn and 3-D glasses, Wendy would be enjoying this tug of war like movie scene.

Dion was annoyed by their closeness. The three of them looked like a real family, laughing, reminiscing about some past memories. But something struck him, ’That gloating fox said he met Myra in Damona? According to the timeline, it must be before the Miracles shifted to Esteria. Is that really just a coincidence or was it intentional?’ Another seed of suspicion was sown inside his head.

Fabian looked at him and said, his eyes turning cold, "Aren’t you busy, Dion? I think you should return for your class."

"I have no plans to," Dion said crisply. "I have already talked to Prof. Gilbert about postponing my lectures. So, I am free for the day. I think you are the busy one, Fab~ian. Taking care of Chairman Larson, investigating the crash matter, handling the company’s affairs. It all must be hectic for you. So, I think you should return."

Fabian was about to give him his piece of mind when Sandra and William returned, followed by Yelena.

Wendy quickly chimed, her voice loud enough to break the heavy atmosphere, "Sis Yel, you are here? Did Mom and Dad tell you the good news?"

"What good news?" Yelena questioned. She had just arrived, so she wasn’t aware of it. yet.

"That, sis, is going to get discharged, most probably in this week itself," Wendy relayed. "The doctor said she is recovering fast, and within this week we can take her home."

"Ohhh, really? That’s great," Yelena became excited, matching Wendy’s energy. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Yelena, didn’t you say Mr. and Mrs. Yates Senior were returning to Damona today?" Fabian asked. She had told him about this last night.

"Umm, I just came here after dropping my grandmother off at the airport," Yelena added. "Grandpa said he was going to stay for the time being."
