Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 32: Perfect
Alpha Jack had no option but to back down and leave the courtroom in anger. Not after sparing her one last glance that told her this wasn’t over between them. He left angrily with some of his pack members, and she thought he would direct his anger at the guards waiting at the door.
Her mother turned to her the moment he was out of their sight. She was enveloped into a tight hug that immediately calmed her nerves and gave her the feeling that she was safe.
Her mother pulled away to turn to her Mate, who was also staring at both of them with a concerned look.
’’I will take Evangeline back to her room to talk.’’
The Alpha King turned to her and gave her a soft look before giving them the permission to be excused.
Before she knew it, she was taken out of the crowded room, countless eyes following her, and led back to her own.
She entered and was surprised to see Sisi and Layla waiting for her in the room. They both stood up to bow when her mother came in with her. She couldn’t help but notice the anxious look they gave her at the sight of her mom.
’’Leave us,’’ Astha told the girls politely, who nodded their heads and left without saying a word. Evangeline stared at the girls in disbelief and wondered if they were no longer interested in taking her for her ’’lessons’ they woke her up very early in the morning to go to.
The moment the door closed behind them, Evangeline watched as her mother began to pace the floors of her room, appearing restless and somewhat angry. She just stood there and watched her like a dummy. Not knowing what to say to her.
’’Why didn’t you tell us this?’’ Her mother began, with her eyes wide on her.
Evangeline has lost count of the number of times she has appeared confused just three days of being in this world. She blinked dumbly at her mother.
Tell them what?
That Alpha Jack has been a total dick to her right from the beginning and has sinister plans of using her for his greed for more power.
Her mother sighed at her state of confusion before moving close to hold her hands in hers and said, ’’You can tell us anything, Evangeline. Your father and I would always have your back no matter what. It just didn’t sit right with your father when he claimed you just wanted to be in the dungeons...’’
Well, he wasn’t entirely wrong. That was the best place she could think of, hiding away from him when he was coming at her like a mad man. Evangeline was still yet to understand why they feared that place so much. The trees just look so tall, dark, and creepy, but it is nothing to be so fearful of.
’’...and then you rejected him out of the blue. We know our daughter would never do something so disgraceful as rejecting her mate, except he did something she didn’t like.’’
Evangeline’s mom sighed deeply again before pulling her into another warm hug.
’’I am just glad he didn’t do anything to hurt my baby. I would have burned him and his entire pack with my fire.’’
It was strange seeing all of them being so possessive about her. Like she was some precious jewel, nobody wanted to see a single scratch on.
So far, minus some unpleasant elements, this bizarre world has been so welcoming and tempting her not to return to that world where her real mother can’t even look at her properly in the face without being disgusted.
She found herself slowly raising her hands to embrace this woman who has shown her in just three nights all the love and affection she has been missing out on.
Her father cared.
Her mother cared.
Her two ghost-like companions cared.
Even the maids working here acknowledge her presence.
A single line of tear trickled down her cheeks as she slowly buried her face to bask in her warmth.
It was too good to be true. Like a dream come true.
It was like God himself had also had enough of her suffering, and ended her life in that shameful world, only to bring her here to be loved and adored by everyone. Although, she hasn’t always been the person who hated getting attention from other people. She had always treated everyone with kindness when she was still dumb and young, expecting the universe to repay her with such energy she gave in ways she couldn’t expect.
But it came as a bummer when her father figure was taken away from her by her mother and accused several times by different people of being mentally ill when she wasn’t.
She was bullied a lot in school due to her heavy reliance on her imaginary friend and lover. She was rebuked for being different and seeing the world as nothing but a mental and physical prison for everyone.
She leaned more into this woman she was gradually accepting as her mother. Maybe living in this world wouldn’t be so bad, and she might regret it a lot should she find a way to return to her old life.
Her hands slowly loosened around the woman.
But what of Ree-ree?
That thought was enough to make her sad and sob harder. She didn’t even know she could spend days without him being by her side and remain sane. She had always thought a moment without having him around her would mean the end of the world for her.
Astha slowly pulled away when she noticed her daughter shaking and sobbing in her hold. She stared at her daughter with wide eyes when the tears wouldn’t stop streaming down her face.
Evangeline slowly fisted her hands around the sleeves of the woman’s winter coat and sobbed out like a child.
’’Ree-reee...’’
’’What?’’
Evangeline sniffed and repeated with her hands trembling, ’’Ree-ree. He is not here with me. I need him.’’
Her daughter’s grip on her tightened, and she looked beyond confused at this point.
Who is...Ree-ree?
A new friend none of them has met yet?
’’I can’t live here if he is not here with me,’’ She told the woman truthfully with a tear-ridden face. It was also strange how easily she cried these days. The girl she raised and breastfed never broke down so easily before her.
All she could do was nod and reach out to wipe every single tear from her face. A lot has happened to her precious light within these few nights, and it is only normal for her to break down completely at this point.
’’Don’t worry, Evangeline. Your mother is here, you need not worry about anything. I will find him for you and bring him to you if that makes you happy, okay?’’
She was initially expecting this woman to ask who Ree-ree was and then call her crazy and not believing her when she tells her he is real. The smile that lit up her face was enough to make her mother smile.
’’Really?’’
Astha nodded.
’’Of course, it is my duty to do anything that makes you happy. Remember that I am only happy when you are happy. I am fine when you are fine. I am stronger when you are strong. I will find him for you and bring him to you.’’
This was indeed heaven. The great afterlife.
She embraced her mother with her insides swimming with pure joy.
The only thing left to complete this perfect new world of hers was to have Ree-ree planted to her side. And she can’t wait to share this world with him.
