Chapter 238: A Trial

The transition of his consciousness from his physical body to Inside his soul space was instantaneous now. He had been coming here more often now and that only made his experience much more normal.

He had gotten used it.

As he opened his eyes, he was once again standing in the barren and desolate land of his soul space. The scorched earth was split from many laces as though something enormous had pressed down on it from above.

The sky above was the deep, still grey of a place that existed outside of weather and time, and in the distance the horizon was a smear of low amber light that had been there every time he visited and had never changed.

He looked down at himself. He was in solid form.

He turned toward the figures and started moving. There was one thing he had not been able to figure out, every time he entered here... he found himself in that same place, rather than close to the center where the souls were imprisoned.

Ishiki walked towards them with an indifferent expression on his face.

Each one of their consciousness was chained to the earth with links that glowed faintly, the illusory blue-white chains than imprisoned them for eternity.

The chains ran from the wrists and ankles into the scorched ground and held each of them at a fixed point, motionless.

As Ishiki reached them, the blue energy moved and formed their features, as he knew them.

There were seven consciousness’s chained here. The dragon, or better said the emperor of Aethelburg was here too. He was a human too... and he had died by Ishiki’s hands.

There was another new face... he was a normal player who happened to have entered Ishiki’s house for burgling. well, Ishiki was going to let him go... until that bastard took Nina as a hostage.

’He could have had a better life... but chose to be a thief and paid.’ He sighed and turned away from him.

He turned back to the dragon’s consciousness. He looked like a man in his early twenties, despite being more than 3000 years old.

On his tall and imposing body, the chains looked like ornaments. He had two large horns running from his head and turning backwards, and a pair of four wings. Two large upper wings and two smaller lower wings.

Ishiki focused on him and a window materialized in front of him, giving information about the dragon’s skills.

Ishiki studied the window and winced. The dragon had been a Mythical Title holder just like him and the master of such great skills, with his Synth reactor tier being at Elite.

He still lost to Ishiki, it was still hard for him to believe that he had killed something like this back then. But then again, the dragon was holding back too much.

It might even be the case of his pride, having lost the orb to Renji might have been a little too much of a shock for him.

"Heh, that does not matter anymore. He was an evil man and his death is justified. Well, its a good thing for me that I killed him. Now I have his soul as my secret weapon..."

He fell silent at the last sentence... because he had never tried using the dragon’s soul for power up using soul chain. He only used the Shinobi’s soul.

He had managed to increase the timing to 30 seconds, but after use it left his body in shambles, useless for like a whole minute even before he could move.

Using the dragon’s soul would put him at a greater risk, not excluding the possibility of breaking apart completely. So, he wanted to at least reach level 50 before he tried connecting with it.

Apart from that, the skills were very good, just that he could not be sure what they did. The first one was a simple one and a useful one albeit.

The second and the exclusive skill he was not sure about. But one thing he was sure about was that the unaging and healing effects were thanks to the orb and not his skills.

He let out a heavy sigh and then turned away from him. He was not here for this. But rather for his experiment.

Ishiki ordered the [Divine Blood] relic to come forth. The black liquid seeped out of his spirit body and collected in from of a large ball in front of him, as large as a football.

He gulped and ordered the Divine Blood to take shape of a human female, short and petite. The same as how Nina looked.

Then, hesitant he activated [Soul Chain].

See, [Soul Chain]’s exact description was that the souls in possession of the Memory Reaper are his property. The master can use them however he wants. Souls are built to be used again and again after all, providing their utmost support to the master is what they wish.

So Ishiki figured out that he can do more than just use them to power himself up and he was right. It was almost two years ago when he figured out that he could free them if he wished so.

Following that he added it with the description of Divine Blood, it was an indestructible object that could stay away from his body and contain spiritual things.

Pretty sure that included consciousness and soul.

He wished for the chains binding Nina’s consciousness to free her and then willed the spirit body to enter the humanoid form made by the [Divine Blood].

This part was easy... the blue energy entered the body and then nothing happened once again. Ishiki willed them to integrate... but failed again and again.

The body did move as he wished, but not of its own accord... it was like a puppet and that was the last thing he wished for.

But nonetheless, he could figure that out later. The more important part was taking this body out of his soul space, with the consciousness.

Ishiki returned out to his physical body and stood from his seat. This was something that he had tried earlier and the body that he made inside his soul space didn’t just disintegrate.

He closed his eyes and calmed himself down and then called upon the Divine Blood he had turned into the body.
