Mercenary's War-Chapter 2150 - 2127: Secret Flight
"Alright, understood! Understood! Got it, we’re departing now."
With his gear fully equipped, Glolov hung up the phone and said to Yarebin beside him, "The route is settled. Uriyangko has coordinated it for us with the countries along the way."
Yarebin, with an authoritative expression, asked, "What route?"
Glolov pointed at the large map on the wall and said, "We’re taking off from Berbera, avoiding the Gulf of Aden and Djibouti airspace where there are too many warships and radar. We’ll divert to Ethiopian airspace, flying at ultra-low altitude, and after penetrating deeper into Ethiopian territory, we’ll climb to altitude and use civilian flight routes heading north, passing Eritrean airspace, flying over the Red Sea, and finally crossing the Sinai Peninsula. Once above the Mediterranean Sea, we turn and eventually land in Beirut, Lebanon, where people from the Syrian Intelligence Bureau will be waiting for us at the Beirut airport, then we’ll transfer to a commercial flight in Beirut directly to Italy."
Yarebin thought for a moment and said, "Arriving safely is more important than rushing. We’re Gao Yang’s last hope. Invading Egyptian airspace is risky, especially flying over the Sinai Peninsula. The years of war between Egypt and Israel have filled the Sinai Peninsula with anti-aircraft missiles and radar. Egyptian Air Force planes can intercept in minutes. Unlike Ethiopia, flying over the Sinai Peninsula might get shot down."
Glolov shook his head and said, "No, Uriyangko is the Big Ivan Group’s representative in Africa, and has good relations with the Egyptian military. Our flight has already been authorized by the Egyptian military. It’s a secret mission but won’t provoke an Egyptian attack."
Yarebin nodded and asked, "Is safety assured after landing in Lebanon?"
Glolov somberly replied, "Yes, our boss is an honorary general in Syria, and most importantly, our relationship with the Syrian military and intelligence community is very good."
Yarebin slightly smiled and asked, "Beyond my expectations, how about the level of the pilots?"
"Some are test pilots recruited from Antonov Design Bureau in Ukraine, some are retired Russian pilots. All have extensive flying experience and are familiar with our aircraft model. The plane is well maintained, even though it’s an Indian aircraft, it has just undergone maintenance at Antonov."
Yarebin chuckled and said, "It’s good that it’s not an Indian plane. Give the pace notes to the pilots, let’s depart now."
Glolov immediately turned and exited the door, telling the people outside, "Board immediately, split into two teams. Big Mister will lead his team to board, Satan will come with me, hurry, hurry, hurry!"
Yarebin, leaning on his cane, came out. They were at the Berbera’s makeshift airport, where the two An-32 transport planes had already been pulled out of the hangar. The pilots were still performing final checks, and the tanker truck was refueling the transport planes, but these did not hinder Glolov and his team from boarding.
Quickly boarding the aircraft, Glolov entered the cockpit, handed a tablet to the captain, and said loudly, "Check the flight route. Is it alright?"
The captain looked over the tablet for a moment, then nodded and said, "No problem."
"Then let’s prepare for takeoff."
With Gao Yang absent, Glolov was Satan’s appointed commander, issuing the final order, he returned to the cabin.
The cabin was full, but everyone wore a serious expression. After Glolov took his seat on a simple chair, Eileen, with a tense look, glanced at him and asked, "Big Dog, any news?"
Everyone’s eyes were on Glolov; he shook his head. Eileen, disappointed, said, "Not even a bit of good news?"
Glolov quietly replied, "Ivan has already set off with his people. He’ll arrive in Rome ahead of us. Grand Ivan is continually pressuring Mario; if Mario remains unreachable, Ivan will take aggressive action, making Mario realize that Grand Ivan is not just talk."
Eileen, in despair, said, "But our boss is still in Mario’s hands. Direct conflict, the boss, the boss..."
Glolov sighed and said, "There’s nothing we can do now. Mario must see that Grand Ivan’s threats are serious, though initial attacks won’t be too intense. Alright, don’t talk anymore; we will definitely arrive within twenty-four hours."
After waiting for almost half an hour, the aircraft engines finally started. Then, the two transport planes took off in succession on the bumpy makeshift runway, rushing into the night sky.
As Glolov and his team took off, Nate Schumacher was pacing back and forth, feeling a bit restless.
The Wizard stood quietly nearby. Nate stopped his pacing, and, in a low voice, he said to the Wizard, "The Ram has gotten into trouble again."
The Wizard remained silent. He knew Nate would continue the explanation, and indeed, Nate, now visibly irritated, said, "The Ram needs help, but I particularly hate being bound by interests and moral coercion. Given our current situation, it’s not suitable to help Satan unthinkingly."
The Wizard finally spoke softly, "Did Satan ask you for help, Sir?"
Nate waved his hand dejectedly, "No, it wasn’t Satan asking for help, it was Uriyangko. Uriyangko thinks Satan is lacking strength, he took it upon himself to inform me, hoping Angel could join the rescue operation and put greater pressure on the Cicero Family."
The Wizard’s expression changed slightly and asked, "The Cicero Family?"
Nate, looking gloomy, replied, "Yes, the Cicero Family."
The Wizard exhaled and said, "Engaging with the Cicero Family carries serious consequences, Lieutenant Colonel."
"I am well aware of the serious consequences."
The Wizard softly asked, "So, did Uriyangko require you to rescue the Ram?"
Nate gestured with his hand, "No, he just informed me, letting me decide whether to contribute."
The Wizard asked quietly, "Then, have you decided?"
Nate sighed helplessly, "I have decided. Our situation doesn’t allow participation in rescue operations. We can’t leave Ukraine, nor engage in a conflict with the Cicero Family, so Angel won’t participate in the rescue of the Ram."
The Wizard slightly lowered his head, "Yes, Lieutenant Colonel." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Nate managed a bitter smile, "But we can’t completely turn a blind eye either, because we owe the Ram too many favors. Take charge and head to Italy. Gather all personnel who can be spared for combat, don’t use Angel’s name, just join Satan and help them in battle. That’s the maximum support we can provide."
The Wizard raised his head, "Yes, Lieutenant Colonel!"
Nate waved his hand, "Quickly make preparations. Once you’re ready, set off immediately,
arrive in Italy within twenty-four hours. I’ll coordinate with Big Dog. When you arrive in Italy, you’ll meet them and follow their lead."
After saluting, the Wizard turned to leave quickly, going to gather personnel.
Once the Wizard left, Nate sat down and muttered, dazed, "Ram, oh Ram, you’re really a troublemaker, daring even to mess with the Cicero Family—looks like you’ve got guts!"
