Merging with Demon Spirits-Chapter 447 - 325: Monster (Part 2)
In a room, two young men sat on chairs, occasionally conversing as they watched three screens before them.
On the screens appeared a room with blue walls.
Inside the room was a girl who looked about fifteen or sixteen years old.
The girl sat on a recliner chair. She wasn’t very tall, at most 1.6 meters, with a rather plump build. Her small face was chubby, with a somewhat adorable appearance, except for a pair of panda-like black circles around her eyes which looked both funny and strange.
Black circles aren’t rare, as most insomniacs have them, but none as exaggerated as these.
These black circles could rival a giant panda’s.
She sat by her computer desk, sipping a drink and making crunching sounds; the sound of chips.
She was focused on the screen, which was showing the Red Cloud Team VS Great Wall Team match.
Watching figures close to her age, there was a flicker of envy in her eyes.
As the girl with the black circles watched the match, the two young men exchanged small talk.
"This year’s finals are truly amazing; too bad we can’t be there in person."
"Nothing to be done; work comes first."
"This Spirit Medium doesn’t need sleep, just stays in the room all day eating snacks and playing on the computer—not much cultivation going on."
"Haha, you want that kind of treatment too?"
"What are you kidding? I don’t want to become a monster."
As they spoke, on the surveillance screen, the girl stretched lazily, then stood up and walked out of the room.
"The Spirit Medium has left the room, switch the view."
.....
After spending the whole day on the computer and munching snacks, Hong Yi felt a bit annoyed.
She got up and slowly walked out of the room.
A gentle breeze passed, carrying a slight chill.
But the scene before her was quite oppressive.
Outside the room was a small courtyard scattered with yellow sand and pebbles, carelessly adorned with some plants and flowers.
Surrounding the courtyard were thick black iron pillars; these metal pillars, half a meter in diameter and twenty to thirty meters high, enclosed the courtyard like a giant prison.
And naturally, they enclosed Hong Yi as well.
To Hong Yi’s eyes, the steel cage was nothing new; she’d lived here since she was five and was long accustomed to it.
Beyond the iron prison, five tiered towers stood tall, surrounding her in a circular enclosure.
Upon each tower stood two or three figures; the moment Hong Yi appeared, their eyes all converged upon her.
These people were male and female, differing in build and appearance, yet they shared one common trait.
They all looked at Hong Yi with a peculiar expression.
It wasn’t curiosity!
But rather a very complex look, mixing disdain, fear, hatred, and schadenfreude.
Hong Yi paid no attention to these gazes.
"Stupid bird."
Hong Yi looked up at the sky; in the pitch-black night, a large bird flapped its wings, circling like a red cloud.
This bird had no feathers but scales, palm-sized and dark red, glistening with a cold sheen; its wingspan surely no less than fifteen meters.
Upon its head were piercing white bone spurs, forming a horn-like white feather crown. This was a King Level Demon Beast known as a Feather Crowned Eagle.
Hong Yi could feel the moment she stepped out of the room, she was locked by the bird’s gaze, the pressure palpable.
"Stupid bird, come down!"
Hong Yi was a bit bored. She crossed her hands behind her head, lying back on the grass, watching the bird. Staring for a while, the bird, once fierce-eyed, shifted its gaze away from her.
The feeling of being locked on slowly faded.
"Are you afraid of me too?"
Hong Yi murmured softly, a touch of sadness flickered in her eyes but swiftly vanished.
"Hmm?"
Hong Yi suddenly looked towards a shaded corner five meters away, covered by an iron pillar.
"Huh?"
A voice of surprise sounded.
Before Hong Yi’s eyes, a dark figure appeared out of nowhere, wearing ordinary jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. Judging by his physique and voice, he should be a man.
"You can actually see me?"
The mysterious man was somewhat surprised.
For Hong Yi to detect him seemed beyond his expectations.
"A Spatial Soul Skill! Who are you?"
Hong Yi asked, neither calling for help nor making any other movements.
She glanced at the Feather Crowned Eagle; this dumb bird was still circling overhead, oblivious to the stranger’s presence.
If even the dumb bird couldn’t notice him, then the others watching over her would likely be even less aware.
"You don’t seem afraid of me?"
More so than being detected, the mysterious person was surprised by the girl’s composure.
"You’ve already come this close; would fear help?" Hong Yi countered.
"Indeed, it wouldn’t." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"What do you want?"
The stranger smiled, "To unleash the beast sealed within you."
"Oh!"
Hong Yi didn’t express any surprise.
She had long guessed it, for that was her only value.
"Are you from the Alien Race?"
Hong Yi continued to inquire, showing little fear, even a bit of curiosity.
"Why do you ask that? Do I sound like an Alien Race member?"
The stranger did not act immediately, as if he were waiting for something.
"The voice isn’t a giveaway, but I heard some Alien Race members are educated and learn our language from a young age, so it’s normal they don’t sound different! No one else would dare to do such a thing."
"Haha."
The stranger chuckled without answering, finding the girl before him quite interesting.
Spirit Mediums, he had seen a few of these war machines before.
Those he saw often had personality issues.
Either violent and crazy or cold-blooded and ferocious, none of them seemed normal. This gentle personality in a female was a first for him.
Logically, the girl should be more violent.
One must know the sealed beast inside her was Sha Mi, a creature known to stealthily seize its host’s body when they sleep.
The result is a Spirit Medium who dares not sleep, leading to temper and mental issues from chronic insomnia.
If not a disguise, then it’s quite remarkable for the girl to be this gentle.
"What’s funny?"
Hong Yi touched her plump face, continuing to ask, "Is the Divine Martial Continent starting their invasion?"
No response was forthcoming.
Perhaps finding it rare to talk to someone, even if they were ill-intentioned, Hong Yi couldn’t help but ask, "Will I die?"
"Does a Spirit Medium fear death as well?"
Hong Yi’s tone seemed to carry a hint of relief and a trace of reluctance, "Not really afraid, but I don’t want to die just yet."
She still had her parents and an adorable younger brother; dying meant never seeing them again.
"Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep..."
Amid their conversation, a shrill, piercing alarm echoed throughout Shangjing.
"Is it starting?"
The mysterious man made a slight move, and Hong Yi’s body trembled.
Though she claimed little fear of death, she still felt some terror.
After all, she was only an eighteen-year-old girl.
Before an answer came, Hong Yi saw a pair of silvery white eyes before her. The eyes resembled moonlight, exuding a mesmerizing charm, filled with mystery and a bewitching essence.
Along with the dizziness, she felt herself growing drowsy, struggling to fend off sleep.
Fear of sleep gnawed at her.
For falling asleep risked the appearance of the beast within her.
"Hypnotized? I mustn’t sleep; sleeping would be the end."
A thought flashed through Hong Yi’s mind.
She tried resisting the sleepiness but to no avail, barely holding for several seconds before shutting her eyes.
As darkness descended...
"Heh heh."
Amid a thunderous, sinister laugh, a massive figure suddenly emerged, its entire form wrapped in frenzy; a gale of yellow sand danced in the air.
As it laughed maliciously, fine sands constantly shed from its body.
Its appearance somewhat resembled a fox but far more menacing. Its entire body was golden, standing thirteen to fourteen meters tall, robust, with a sharp snout, triangular ears, possessing sturdy, short limbs covered in strange violet patterns, its face marked with large black patches enveloping its eyes.
Within its vast eyes lay endless darkness, a golden pupil within emanated a murderous aura. Lifting its gaze to the Fei Yue above, it extended a giant right claw; within the sharp talons’ center, flesh swirled and an indentation formed, gradually revealing a head, then a body, slowly manifesting.
The figure unmistakably was Hong Yi.
The beast bared its bloodthirsty maw, cackling, "Heh heh, damn little brat, actually still alive, I must kill you, kill all humans!"
