MIGHT AS WELL BE OP-Chapter 954: Conversation
Within a cracked building, Aura Nova could be seen walking out with calm steps, the building looking like it was about to collapse at any moment but not daring to while Aura Nova still remained within it. Her presence was tranquil, her steps unhurried and purposeful, and although she had been thrown around twice during the fight, not a single strand of hair seemed out of place, as though wherever she wasn’t perfect or pristine, her body instinctively rearranged itself back into flawless order.
Lucian could be seen sitting on top of a skyscraper with a relaxed expression as he watched her approach, the moment she stepped out, the building finally gave up and collapsed entirely, concrete and steel crashing downward in a cloud of dust, while she casually leaped and landed on the open rooftop of another building opposite the one Lucian sat on, her descent light and controlled as though gravity itself treated her gently.
"You’re back," Lucian replied lazily as he sat with the demeanor of a man who had seen and been through it all, "this was why I told you to give up on close-quarter combat and immediately use your Omniedit ability... sigh, only if you had listened," Lucian stated as he stared at Aura Nova with an amused smile, his tone teasing yet faintly reproachful.
Although Aura Nova was stronger overall, and her Omniedit ability was definitely a broken, almost unfair power, Lucian still felt he stood above her in actual combat experience. After all, he had been in more life-or-death battles than he could care to count. His Absolute Copy ability had literally made him travel from planet to planet right from a very young age, throwing him into wars, disasters, and conflicts that most people would never even hear about. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
To him, he had experienced far more things than Aura Nova had ever experienced, and that gap in lived battles was something he valued more than raw strength alone.
Aura Nova simply smiled at Lucian’s words but said nothing. She wasn’t a sore loser who would get angry or irritated over defeat. No, to her, she had only lost because she had overlooked her Sword Intent training, and if she hadn’t made that mistake, she wouldn’t have lost. But she said none of that out loud, because she wasn’t one to make excuses, only to accept the loss and move on without complaint.
’I could try my sword techniques, but I guess they will be useless,’ she thought to herself. Although she believed in how ridiculously powerful her sword techniques were, she also understood that Lucian, someone this strong, would definitely possess an equally powerful katana technique, and if amplified by his Sword Intent, well... the outcome was obvious.
"Sigh... well, it was indeed true you said that, but is there a reason why I would ever take your words for it?" she asked as she stood with a calm expression, her sky-blue eyes meeting Lucian’s with quiet composure, neither hostile nor submissive.
’This person’s character must be a rich reader for the author to create such a character for her. I wonder if Aaaninja is still rank one on the fandom ranking, and what rank I am with the introduction of another rich reader,’ he mused to himself, knowing full well that the author had a bad habit of favoring whoever gifted him more...
Well, unless the greedy author had somehow changed, which Lucian wasn’t betting on, because he was sure that greedy author would stay greedy until the day whatever severe sickness that plagued him before he even became an author finally killed him. That guy would probably be greedy right to his grave.
"So, are you going to put up a fight and try your sword techniques against me?" he asked Aura Nova as he decided to stop thinking about the greedy author and return his attention to the present situation.
He had seen Aura Nova use her techniques against Kingsley, and while they were undeniably strong and elegant, he knew they were nothing compared to his Nothingness Technique, a power that erased rather than clashed.
’She simply needs to explore the galaxy and broaden her horizon, after that, she would go through an outrageous transformation and become many times more ridiculously stronger than she is now,’ Lucian thought to himself as he stared at Aura Nova with a thoughtful gaze.
Aura Nova had spent most of her life within her planet, sheltered under the protection of the world’s strongest man, Rain, her growth steady but limited by the boundaries of a single world.
’I can’t wait to see what her real transformation will bring, and what the author would do,’ Lucian’s fourth-wall-breaking thoughts continued, half amused and half curious.
"No need, I know I will lose on that level... for now at least, so I won’t bother wasting energy," Aura Nova replied, not even trying to hide the fact that she knew she would lose if they continued this meaningless weapon battle.
Lucian smiled as he replied, "you might not be as stubborn as you look and come off," he laughed lightly as he began to stand and rise to his feet, stretching his shoulders as though the fight had barely warmed him up.
Aura Nova arched an eyebrow as she replied, "and what makes you think I’m stubborn?" she asked, genuinely confused by the label.
"Well... you challenged Anthony despite the advice I gave you, but that doesn’t matter now. You will have to find out for yourself in a couple of hours," Lucian mused, his tone oddly knowing.
"Well, you say that, but yet you went ahead and participated in a spar against him," Aura Nova replied, clearly pointing out his blatant double standard.
Lucian’s lips twitched as though he wanted to scream that he had only challenged Anthony because of her manipulative words, but he held it back, knowing it would only make him sound childish.
And just like that, Aura Nova and Lucian turned what had moments ago been a battlefield into something entirely different, casually discussing things between each other as though they hadn’t just been battling with killing intent a few minutes earlier, their voices calm, their postures relaxed, the tension gone as if it had never existed.
The spectators were also confused, one moment they were witnessing an intense clash filled with destructive force and lethal precision, and now they were standing there listening to what felt more like a sitcom conversation than the aftermath of a deadly fight.
