MMA System: I Will Be Pound For Pound Goat-Chapter 857 - 858: Family Time
"Grandpa, can you also fight like Daddy?"
Ava sat on Victor’s arm while he held her up with one hand. She had been asking questions since they sat down, and Victor answered each one without complaint.
"Of course, sweetheart," Victor said with a confident smile. "Who do you think taught your daddy?"
Ava’s eyes widened immediately.
"Woooow!"
Across from them, Svetlana gave Victor a side glance that clearly said really?
Victor waved his hand dismissively.
The truth was complicated. He had trained Damon, but saying he created him was another story. Damon learned quickly, and many of his habits came from experimenting on his own. Even back when Victor sent him to Thailand to train, Damon returned with new ideas and combinations of techniques Victor had never taught him.
Over time Damon built his own style, mixing everything he learned from boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, and other martial arts. Watching it develop had been impressive.
"Then you must be the best," Ava said with complete seriousness.
Victor laughed and gently pinched her cheeks.
He then turned his attention to his daughter.
"Lana, how’s the baby?" he asked while looking at her stomach.
Svetlana rested a hand there and smiled.
"Ah, it’s been good," she said. "Just the usual tiredness."
Svetlana rested her hand on her stomach and smiled.
"But it’s been great," she said. "Damon is home most of the time, which helps a lot. He takes care of the physical stuff."
Ava immediately straightened on Victor’s arm.
"Me too, Mommy! I help too, right?"
Svetlana laughed softly and reached over to brush Ava’s hair back.
"Yes, you help too," she said. "You keep me company."
Ava looked very proud of that answer.
Victor chuckled and shifted her slightly on his arm. The small café they had stopped at was calm compared to the arena earlier that night. People walked along the street outside while a few tourists sat at nearby tables. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
After a moment Ava looked around the table.
"Where’s Daddy?" she asked.
"He went to shower," Victor replied. "He’ll be here soon."
Right as he said that, Damon walked into the restaurant from the hotel entrance nearby.
Ava spotted him immediately.
"Daddy!" she shouted.
Damon looked over and smiled before walking toward the table.
"Hey," he said as he pulled out a chair.
Victor raised an eyebrow. "You clean up fast."
Damon shrugged. "Didn’t take long."
He looked at Svetlana. "You doing okay?"
She nodded. "Yeah."
Damon leaned back in the chair and glanced at Ava, who was already staring at him with another question forming on her face.
He sighed lightly with a smile.
"Alright," he said. "What is it this time?"
The group left the café area and started walking down the street. Everyone was hungry after the long night at the arena, so the first stop was food.
Singapore made that decision easy.
They entered a busy food market where different stalls lined the walkway. The smell of grilled meat, noodles, and spices filled the air while people sat at small tables eating and talking.
Damon ordered something simple at first. Grilled chicken, rice, and vegetables. He still had another fight coming, so he kept most of his meal clean.
Of course, he cheated a little.
He ended up sharing a few things with the others. A plate of fried rice with shrimp, some satay skewers with peanut sauce, and a small bowl of noodles cooked in a rich broth. The flavors were strong but balanced. The meat was tender, the rice had a smoky taste from the wok, and the sauces were thick and sweet.
Victor had no such discipline.
He ordered from several stalls and tried almost everything that caught his attention. A large bowl of laksa with spicy coconut broth, roasted duck with rice, and crispy spring rolls that disappeared quickly.
"This is what traveling is about," Victor said while eating another skewer.
Svetlana laughed while Ava watched everything with curiosity.
Ava mostly stuck to noodles and dumplings, but she kept pointing at other dishes and asking what they were. Damon helped her cut the noodles into smaller pieces while she ate.
By the time everyone finished, the table was full of empty plates.
They left the market and walked down the street again.
The city was still lively even though the sun had gone down. Bright lights from buildings reflected off the glass towers and the sidewalks were full of people.
"Where to next?" Victor asked.
Damon looked at his phone for a moment.
"There’s a place nearby," he said. "Good view of the city."
They took a short ride and soon arrived at Gardens by the Bay.
Even at night the place looked impressive. Huge tree-like structures stood across the park, covered in lights that changed colors slowly. The paths between them were full of families, tourists, and children running around.
Ava stared up at the glowing structures.
"Whoa..."
The lights moved across the tall metal trees while music played quietly through speakers around the garden. The whole area looked like something from the future.
Damon took Ava’s hand as they walked through the park.
Kids ran across the open areas while parents took photos nearby. Some people lay on the grass looking up at the lights.
Ava pointed upward again.
"Daddy look!"
Damon followed her finger and nodded.
"Yeah," he said with a small smile. "That’s pretty cool."
From above, the OCBC Skyway lit up in soft orange and purple, stretching between the tallest Supertrees. Light projections danced across the foliage, showing native animals like hornbills and otters moving in patterns along the branches. A few floating drones hovered in the distance, adding tiny glimmers like fireflies. Ava’s fascination kept her looking up, pointing at each new projection as it shifted.
"This is so cool!" she exclaimed, spinning around to see a fountain that sprayed water in time with music, lit by blue and green lights that made it look like a liquid rainbow. She ran toward it, laughing, splashing her small hands through the mist as Victor and Damon followed, smiling at her excitement.
After a while, Damon finally called for everyone to gather. They wandered a little longer, capturing photos and enjoying the light displays, then decided to head back. The night was calm but alive, the city skyline glittering in the distance as they made their way to the car.
Back at the hotel, they packed their things and prepared to leave Singapore. The trip had been a mix of food, sights, and family moments, and Damon made a mental note to savor it later.
Damon felt the fatigue hit. His body ached slightly from the day’s walking, the heat, and the lingering tension from his fight. He collapsed onto his bed, muscles sore, and immediately drifted into deep sleep.
