Chapter 260: The Blood-Fiend Fruit

The idea of monopolizing the potion market in Dominion was almost too much to take in at once. For Marcus, it wasn’t just about wealth, though that alone would be staggering. It meant faster progression, safer grinding, and a decisive advantage in any conflict that lay ahead. With something like the Super Health Potion under his control, he wouldn’t just compete with other players, he would outlast them.

"Master," Alana said softly, noticing the unmistakable grin spreading across his face.

She stepped closer and slipped her arms around his neck, leaning into him with an easy, affectionate familiarity that felt both natural and deliberate.

"Since I’m not suited for fighting, would it be alright if I stayed here and focused on brewing for you?" she asked, her voice gentle but hopeful. "I want to be useful."

Marcus met her gaze, taking in the sincerity in her clear eyes. There was no hesitation in his answer.

"Of course," he said. The arrangement suited him perfectly. Keeping her safe within the mansion while she supported him with her alchemy was exactly what he had in mind from the beginning.

Without thinking, he reached out and gave her nose a light, playful pinch. Still, something she had said earlier lingered in his mind.

"Alana, it’s stated that the Super Health Potion has levels," he said. "It’s Level 1 right now, so what changes when it reaches Level 2?"

Alana tilted her head slightly, recalling what she had been taught.

"Grandfather said that at Level 2, the brewing time is reduced, and each batch produces at least three potions instead of two," she explained. "But the biggest difference is the effect. A Level 2 potion restores eight hundred Health per second and lasts for twelve seconds."

Marcus blinked, the numbers hitting him all at once. Eight hundred per second, and for twelve seconds.

For a brief moment, the room seemed to tilt. If that was Level 2, then Level 3 would almost certainly break past a thousand per second. That meant over ten thousand total health restored in a single potion. Even a Level 80 Knight wouldn’t have that kind of health pool.

This wasn’t just a powerful consumable anymore. It was something that could completely distort balance.

A true game-breaker.

"Alana... that’s incredible," he said, unable to hide his excitement. "I’ll start looking for the ingredients right away. Five-Leaf Goldgrass and Crystal-Tear Berries, right?"

"I’ll be here waiting, Master," she replied with a bright, satisfied smile.

Then she paused, her expression turning thoughtful as she reached back into her memories of studying under the Saint Doctor.

"You should be careful," she added. "The Five-Leaf Goldgrass grows on Five-Leaf Peak, southeast of the Glacial Citadel. That area is controlled by Level 50 Golden-Petal Snow Eagles. They attack from the air, often without warning."

Marcus nodded, committing the information to memory. "And the Crystal-Tear Berries?"

"Those form in Blue Ant Valley, north of Ironstone Citadel," she continued. "They’re created when the tears of Level 60 Blue Crystal Tripod Ants fall onto Blue Crystal Flowers. The ants are extremely fast, and they move in large swarms." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

A hint of worry crept into her voice as she looked at him.

"Those places are very dangerous, Master. Maybe I should come with you? I can at least help protect you with my staff."

Marcus shook his head without hesitation.

"No, it’s fine. I can handle it," he said calmly. "I don’t need to fight them head-on. I just need to be quick."

He knew his limits. Facing Level 50 or 60 creatures directly wasn’t an option right now, but that didn’t mean the trip was impossible. With the right approach, speed and timing would be enough. Bringing Alana along would only complicate things, especially if something stronger showed up.

"Just stay here and get everything ready for brewing," he added.

"Alright," she said, though the concern didn’t completely leave her expression.

"Actually," Marcus continued, as another thought occurred to him, "I picked up a lot of materials during my travels. Take a look and see if there’s anything useful."

He opened his inventory and began transferring items onto a nearby table, followed by the contents of his personal storage. The growing pile quickly turned into a small mountain of rare materials.

"Master, this is... quite a collection," Alana said, clearly surprised. Even with her experience as a Grandmaster Alchemist who had traveled alongside the Saint Doctor, some of the items were rare enough to catch her off guard.

She picked up a dark, preserved organ, examining it closely.

"A Millennium Bear Gall? These are incredibly difficult to obtain."

Next, her fingers moved to a cluster of shimmering sea life.

"Prismatic Starfish... from the deep sea. They’re almost impossible to catch."

Her gaze shifted again.

"And Star-Grass? This only grows near Star Lake. Have you been there, Master?"

Marcus nodded. "That’s where I got my Violet Thunderwing Steed and the Nightmare Dragon Steed."

Alana froze for a second, then looked up at him, her eyes widening.

"You have the Nightmare Dragon Steed? The number one mount in the entire world?" she asked, disbelief written all over her face. "You have to tell me about Star Lake later."

"I will," Marcus said with a faint smile, continuing to sort through his items.

A moment later, Alana picked up a small, shimmering crystal shaped like a teardrop.

"Is this... a Mist-Tear?" she asked, her voice lowering slightly. "Grandfather told me these only form inside the sealed Mist Veil Palace, when the negative energy reaches its peak. After the seal was broken, we went there to search for them, but everything had already been taken."

She looked at him again, this time with a dawning realization.

"Master... was that you? Did you break the seal on the palace?"

Marcus raised his hands slightly, unbothered. "Yeah. That was me."

Before she could respond, her attention snapped to another item in the pile.

"And this..." she said, her voice suddenly rising with excitement as she held up a small, vibrant fruit. "A Blood-Fiend Fruit!"

Marcus leaned closer, studying it with interest. "Is it really that valuable?"

"Master, these have only a ten percent chance of dropping from high-tier Blood-Fiend Flower Demons," she said quickly. "Fewer than ten appear in all of Dreamland over an entire century. They’re famous for their rejuvenation effect. Any woman who consumes one can retain her youth for twenty years."

She paused, then narrowed her eyes at him slightly.

"But the Flower Demons serve Seraphina the Flawless, one of the Four Demon Sovereigns. Whenever a fruit is produced, it’s supposed to be delivered directly to her. She distributes them personally to the most elite women of the Demon Clan."

Her gaze sharpened, filled with suspicion.

"No one has ever taken a Blood-Fiend Fruit from her in over a thousand years... so how exactly did you get this, Master?"

Marcus immediately raised both hands in surrender.

"I swear, I have no idea who Seraphina is," he said. He wasn’t lying. The title of Demon Sovereign alone told him she was far beyond anything he had encountered so far.

Alana studied him for a moment longer, then the suspicion melted away, replaced by renewed excitement.

"Master, this changes everything," she said, holding the fruit up again. "Last year, on Princess Celeste’s eighteenth birthday, the Emperor of the Citadel issued a decree. He promised a noble rank and official title to anyone who could present a Blood-Fiend Fruit as a gift to the princess."

She gave the fruit a small, playful wave, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"With this, Master... you could become a truly powerful figure in the capital."
