MMORPG: Birth of the World's Luckiest Player-Chapter 262: The Four Demon Sovereigns
"Master, about a year ago, Princess Celeste made her first public appearance during her eighteenth birthday celebration," Alana began, her voice soft as she slipped into the memory. "She was... breathtaking. Like a goddess stepping down from the heavens, flawless in a way that didn’t feel entirely real. Her appearance alone caused a sensation across the entire Dreamland Continent. For months afterward, people couldn’t stop talking about her."
She paused briefly, as if recalling the scene in vivid detail, her expression thoughtful.
"I saw her myself, Master. Up close. She has this gentle, almost innocent charm, something pure and disarming, but at the same time she carries herself with a natural grace that commands respect. It’s... difficult to describe properly unless you’ve seen it. There are already rumors spreading across the continent that in next year’s ’Most Beautiful Women of Dreamland’ rankings, she may even surpass the current number one."
Alana glanced at him, gauging his reaction before continuing.
"That title has belonged to Glacia, the Frost-Veiled Maiden, for over a thousand years. She is one of the Four Demon Sovereigns of the Demon Clan. At the very least, people are certain Princess Celeste will take the second position, replacing her older sister, Princess Phoenix."
Marcus found himself genuinely intrigued.
The Four Demon Sovereigns again. Their name carried weight every time it came up, and the fact that one of them had been considered the most beautiful woman on the continent for over a millennium made it all the more interesting.
He was just about to press Alana for more details when her expression shifted, that playful glint returning to her eyes.
"Master, the Blood-Fiend Fruit really is a priceless treasure," she said lightly. "If you present it to Princess Celeste, you won’t just receive a generous reward from the Dragon Dynasty. You may also leave a lasting impression on the princess herself."
Marcus let out a quiet scoff, unconvinced. "That sounds a little exaggerated, doesn’t it? A noble title and a high-ranking position, just for a fruit that preserves youth? The Dragon Dynasty seems awfully generous." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"It isn’t just about the fruit," Alana replied patiently, shaking her head. "Blood-Fiend Fruits can only be obtained from a Blood-Fiend Flower Demon, a high-level entity deep within the Demon Realm. Anyone capable of acquiring one would naturally be considered an expert. So the reward isn’t simply for the item itself, it’s a way for the Dragon Dynasty to attract and secure powerful individuals."
Marcus’s lips curled slightly as the realization settled in.
’So that’s how it works.’
What he had initially assumed was a simple quest was anything but. Even here, in a virtual world, politics and strategy ran just as deep as they did in reality. The Dragon Dynasty wasn’t being generous, they were investing.
The only problem was that he didn’t exactly fit the profile they were expecting.
He hadn’t fought his way through the Demon Realm or defeated some terrifying boss through sheer strength. He had stumbled into the fruit through luck and timing. Whether the Dynasty would still view him as someone worth recruiting... that remained to be seen.
"That’s why you should wait until at least Level 50 before turning in the fruit, Master," Alana added, her tone turning more serious. "If your level is too low, the court won’t take you seriously. Even if they intended to reward you with a high-ranking position, you wouldn’t meet the requirements. It would only go to waste."
She hesitated for a moment before asking, her curiosity finally surfacing.
"Master... how did you even obtain something like this? Would you tell me?"
Marcus didn’t mind sharing. He walked her through everything that had happened in the Mist Veil Palace, including his encounter with the Blood-Fiend Flower Demon, the so-called demonic prodigy Alana had mentioned before.
By the time he finished, she let out a quiet breath and shook her head in disbelief.
"Your luck really is something else, Master," she said softly. "I knew it couldn’t have been simple. No one casually takes something from Seraphina’s grasp. This quest... it almost feels as though it was meant for you alone."
The mention of Seraphina brought Marcus right back to the question that had been lingering in his mind.
"Alana," he said, his curiosity no longer restrained, "who exactly are the Four Demon Sovereigns? Are they stronger than the Demon Lord’s Eight Guardians? And how do they compare to the Demon Lord himself?"
Alana straightened slightly, gathering her thoughts before answering.
"The Demon Lord is the supreme ruler of the Demon Clan, Master. His strength surpasses all others, but he rarely shows himself. Most matters are handled by the Four Demon Sovereigns. While they are not his equals, they are far stronger than the Eight Guardians."
She paused briefly, organizing her explanation, then continued in a steady, measured tone.
"The Southern Sovereign is Juggernaut, known as the Hellish Butcher. He was born from a mysterious dark stone deep within the Demon Realm. His body is said to be completely immune to both weapons and magic. He wields the Heaven-Splitting, God-Slaying Demon Dragon Axe, a supreme demonic artifact personally bestowed upon him by the Demon Lord. He commands the Demon Clan’s melee legions."
"The Western Sovereign is Malice, the Soul-Devouring Darkness. He is not a being of flesh, but a manifestation of pure negative energy, formed from countless tormented souls and concentrated demonic power over ten thousand years. His magic is devastating, capable of tearing apart both land and sky. His weapon, the Demon-Blood Elemental Sword, was forged within the Demon Clan’s Blood Pool over a thousand years. He leads their mage legions."
"In the far north of the Demon Realm, buried within ten-thousand-year-old demonic ice, there once lay a piece of ancient soul jade. After another ten thousand years, it awakened and took human form, becoming the Northern Sovereign, Glacia, the Frost-Veiled Maiden. Her weapon, the Millennium Ice Phantom Thorn, was born from that same eternal ice. She commands the Demon Clan’s specialized and unique forces."
Alana’s gaze drifted slightly, her tone softening.
"Her presence is as cold as the ice she was born from. Her expression rarely changes, and her personality is distant, almost untouchable, like a statue carved from jade. And yet... her beauty is undeniable. A thousand years ago, after Princess Sea-Soul vanished without a trace, Glacia took her place as the most beautiful woman on the Dreamland Continent, and she has held that position ever since."
She let that settle before continuing.
"And finally, the Eastern Sovereign. The most exquisite of the Nine-Leaf Nether Flowers fell into the Nine Realms Abyss, and after ten thousand years of absorption, it transformed into a demoness both alluring and dangerous. She is Seraphina, the Flawless."
Alana’s voice carried a subtle note of respect as she spoke her name.
"She oversees the internal affairs of the Demon Clan, acting as their grand steward. During her time in the abyss, she discovered an ancient, withered tree of unknown origin. From it, she created the Nine Realms Sun-Setting Staff, a weapon powerful enough to shake the entire continent."
Alana hesitated for just a moment before finishing.
"It is even said that if she were ever able to fully unleash the power of that staff, she could challenge the Demon Lord himself... and possibly take his place."
She looked back at Marcus, her expression calm but certain.
"Among the Four Demon Sovereigns, Seraphina is considered the strongest. That’s why taking the Blood-Fiend Fruit from her is seen as impossible. No one would seriously attempt it."
Marcus listened in silence, the scale of what she described settling over him.
The Demon Clan wasn’t just powerful, it was overwhelming.
"Alana," he said after a moment, another memory surfacing, "do you know anything about the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight? How does he compare to them?"
The image of that overwhelming presence in the Mist Veil Palace was still fresh in his mind.
Alana nodded.
"Before Glacia appeared, the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight held the position of Northern Sovereign," she explained. "But his nature is... unstable. He is driven by battle and bloodshed, and when that impulse takes hold, he doesn’t distinguish between enemy and ally."
Her expression grew slightly more serious.
"Eventually, Seraphina had him sent to the Celestial Fire Desert in the west, where he now fights the ancient Primal Behemoths and expands the Demon Clan’s territory. After that, his title was given to Glacia."
She met Marcus’s gaze again, her tone steady.
"So in terms of power, the Three-Headed Black Dragon Knight stands on the same level as the Four Demon Sovereigns. Each of them rules their own domain."
