MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 303: The Leaders Verdict
The guild hall of Brotherhood Legion was abuzz with anticipation, the air thick with tension as members gathered in huddled groups, discussing Eclipse’s and Shadowblades’ shocking betrayal and the potential consequences of this recent events.
Whispers and murmurs echoed through the expansive hall, a mixture of frustration, anger, and uncertainty coloring the conversations.
Doom Harbinger, the imposing leader of Doombringers, stood inside Ragnarok Reaper’s office, his gaze fixed on the virtual screens that adorned the room.
His characteristic stern expression seemed to waver, replaced by a perplexed look as he grappled with the weight of Eclipse’s actions.
Furry and Fighting Bunny stood beside Doom Harbinger, their faces bristling with a mix of tension and anger.
The guild members were on edge, expecting the inevitable notification that would confirm their failure in clearing the Castle of Doom.
Eclipse had pulled off a swift maneuver that caught everyone off guard. By eliminating all opposition within the Castle of Doom, he had secured exclusive access to crucial information about the final boss.
Armed with this knowledge, he now possessed the advantage of attempting the Castle once more, equipped with details that could potentially lead him to a triumphant outcome.
Together with his guild, Shadowblades’ conquest meant he held the key to unlocking the Castle’s secrets, providing them with a strategic edge to navigate its challenges and emerge victorious.
The rest of the guild now faced the realization that Eclipse’s betrayal might empower Shadowblade to conquer the Castle of Doom, armed with insights that only he possessed, and finally emerged as the top one guild in the world.
Furry muttered in frustration, "That fucking traitor. We never should’ve invited him and his shitty guild to join us in the first place."
Fighting Bunny let out a resigned sigh. "Language."
But then her expression twisted into a mask of anger as she recalled what Eclipse had to her a while ago. "That lethargic asshole will pay. I’ll hunt down every Shadowblade member I come across, and I’ll let them revive and make them fucking suffer over and over."
Doom Harbinger turned to Ragnarok Reaper, asking him, "What do you propose we do?"
After a brief pause, Ragnarok Reaper spoke decisively, "Shadowblade will face the consequences for breaching the contract. They’ll surrender their share, all the gil, and items acquired during the expedition."
He continued, "We’ll also publicly expose their betrayal through the media, ensuring everyone knows their deceit. From now on, we’ll blacklist them and engage in open hostility. Every Shadowblade member we encounter will be targeted for elimination in-game. Are you all in agreement?"
Doom Harbinger and Furry nodded in consent, while Fighting Bunny remained seated, consumed by her anger.
"That seems too lenient for me," she muttered. "I want Eclipse to pay over and over again."
"He will," reassured Ragnarok Reaper assure her. "With this, Shadowblade will be crippled, and the gaming community won’t be eager to join them when everyone is out for their blood."
"But what about the fact that Eclipse holds the final information on the Castle of Doom? If Shadowblade manages to conquer it, they’ll undoubtedly rise to the top. No amount of PKing could deter others from joining their guild when that time came, and they’ll recover their losses tenfold."
Ragnarok Reaper pondered for a moment before responding, "Shadowblade may have gained an advantage, but we’ll ensure it’s short-lived. Our actions today will send a message that betrayal doesn’t go unpunished, even in the virtual realm."
A heavy silence fell upon Ragnarok Reaper, Doom Harbinger, and Fighting Bunny as they contemplated the insufficiency of the penalties imposed on Eclipse and Shadowblade.
The realization loomed that, if Shadowblade successfully cleared the Castle of Doom, all consequences they faced would pale in comparison.
Ragnarok Reaper turned to Fighting Bunny, seeking reassurance. "You mentioned X and Victor are still there, right?"
Fighting Bunny nodded solemnly. "Yeah, but against Eclipse, what can they really do?"
A moment of quiet reflection passed before Doom Harbinger spoke up. "X is an enigmatic player, and Victor is a top-tier Dual Wielder. Eclipse might find it challenging to take them down."
Furry, arms crossed, interjected with a pointed question. "Do we have the real identity of this X?"
Ragnarok Reaper met their gazes with a solemn face. "Yes," he affirmed. "The developers have responded to our email and approved our request to obtain the complete list of members who accompanied us to the Castle of Doom."
Eager anticipation filled the room. "And?"
Ragnarok Reaper drew in a deep breath, grappling with the reluctance to reveal what he had discovered about X.
However, he knew that withholding such crucial information wasn’t an option, especially since he suspected that the others had likely conducted their own research.
He had already attempted to contact X using his real account name, yet received no response. Even reaching out in the real world yielded silence.
Uncertain if he had indeed reached the elusive player, Ragnarok Reaper felt it was a gamble worth taking.
"Doom Harbinger," Ragnarok Reaper responded, meeting his gaze steadily. "You’re not thinking of keeping X’s real identity to yourself, right?"
Ragnarok Reaper was silent for a moment before shaking his head. "No, of course not. I’m sure that you have done your research and you’ll find out anyway, so there was no point in hiding it."
He took a deep breath and said, "The player who slipped past our group goes by the name Lord Schrodinger."
Fury’s brow furrowed. "Lord . . ."
"Schrodinger . . . ?" Fighting Bunny finished with a puzzled expression. "Why does that name remind me of a cat?"
"Because he is a cat," Ragnarok Reaper revealed, disclosing Lord Schrodinger’s identity to the group.
"Level 65?" Doom Harbinger’s frown deepened.
Fighting Bunny exhaled audibly. "Eclipse must have triumphed by now."
"Does he belong to Snow Angel’s guild?" Fury inquired while going into Lord Schrodinger’s file.
"No," Ragnarok Reaper clarified. "He’s a solo player, it seems. During their conflict with Doom Serenity, he utilized his golems as well. He probably only helped his sister."
Doom Harbinger acknowledged, "I can see the resemblance. So, what’s our plan regarding him?"
Ragnarok Reaper shook his head. "Nothing."
