Chapter 305: A Midnight Summons

"Huh? You’re looking for Xin? This is my number, you know. Wait, who are you again?" Xiaxia demanded as she accepted another call.

That evening, instead of reveling and celebrating the top guild’s victory of conquering the Castle of Doom, Xiaxia was occupied with answering her phone nonstop.

"Huh? And who the hell are you? What do you mean, where’s Xin? This is my number. Go and call him on his number!"

"What do you mean he couldn’t be reached? I fail to see why that’s my problem," Xiaxia yelled on the other side. "What do you want with him anyway? Hold that thought."

"Hello, who’s this? Huh, you’re looking for Xin? You know what, go fuck yourself."

After ending the call, her phone rang again. It seemed that it would continue to ring throughout the night.

Feeling tired and frustrated, Xiaxia decided to turn off her phone and slumped onto the couch.

"Did something happen?" Seraphina asked her. "Your phone doesn’t seem to stop ringing ever since the announcement of the guild’s victory."

Xiaxia was troubled as well. "I don’t know. They all seem to want to talk to Xin."

Seraphina’s small smile disappeared from her lips, her eyes narrowing as she questioned, "What do they want with Xin?"

"They didn’t say," Xiaxia replied in exasperation, too exhausted to notice Seraphina’s changed of expression. "All they said was that it was urgent and it’s a secret."

"A secret?"

Xiaxia jumped to her feet. "You know what? I’ll go and ask him right now. What is he even doing, locking himself inside his room all day?"

Xiaxia was about to storm into Xin’s room when out of nowhere, Xin casually emerged outside and walked into the kitchen.

"Hoi! Hold it right there!" Xiaxia said and blocked Xin’s path. "Where do you think you’re going?"

"Going to get myself something," Xin said with his lethargic face. "I’m hungry."

Xiaxia pursed her lips. "That’s not what I wanted to ask. But why are there people calling me asking for you? Where’s your phone? What did you do?"

Xin opened his mouth to answer her, but Xiaxia was already onto his case.

"Don’t tell me that you have done something illegal in your room, and you have been found out? And now people are searching for you? Oh my god, did you scam people?"

Xin wanted to drill his fist into the side of her head so she would rethink what she was saying.

"Do you really think that I would scam someone?"

"Then explain to me why everyone seems to be asking for you?"

He was about to when she would just stop talking.

Xin was about to open his mouth when the telephone in the living room rang.

"Huh, is that Mother calling?" Xiaxia asked because only a handful knew the telephone number of the condo unit.

Xin didn’t think so. "Mom has the keys, and why would he be calling on the telephone and not on our phone?"

Xiaxia batted her eyelids. "Because I shut off my phone because of your callers, and you couldn’t be reached."

She then raced towards the telephone.

"Who could be calling at this hour?" Xiaxia asked no one while briefly glancing at the clock.

On the side, Seraphina went to Xin’s side and checked up on him.

"Are you okay?" she asked him.

"Yeah, why?"

"Somebody’s calling for you on Xiaxia’s phone," Seraphina started. "You can tell me if you’re in trouble, and I’ll completely sort it out for you."

Xin didn’t expect her to say that, but he was grateful nonetheless. "Thanks, but I’m not in trouble."

At least, he thought so if Ragnarok Reaper and the rest honored their blood oath and contract with him.

They had probably found out his ID name by now from the developer, but Xin wasn’t worried. He had already changed his name, and he wasn’t even planning to confirm anything.

At this point, they didn’t have solid evidence that it was really him — only a conjecture.

As long as they didn’t have any solid evidence, then he would deny their claims to the end.

"Xin?"

Xin was jolted awake by Seraphina’s low voice. "Ah, sorry, did you say something?"

Seraphina only stared at him for a moment before she opened her mouth, but before she could voice out her words, Xiaxia already beat her to it.

"Xin! W-w-w-w-what did you do?" Xiaxia asked, wide-eyed.

Xin and Seraphina were baffled by her reaction.

Xiaxia continued, "What did you do?! Ragnarok Reaper, T-the Ragnarok Reaper and the rest are downstairs and are asking for you!"

Xin wasn’t surprised, and he only said, "I see . . ." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

He surely didn’t expect that they would come to Seraphina’s condo unit as soon as they could. They didn’t even wait for tomorrow.

How did they even know where he lived in such a short amount of time, anyway?

Looks like they were desperate.

Xin calmly said to the hysterical Xiaxia, "Tell him and whoever he is with that I will see them downstairs in the restaurant."

"I’ll come with you too!" Xiaxia declared fiercely with smoke rising from her nose. "There’s no way that I will wait here while my idol is downstairs!"

Xin only gave her the side eyes.

"I’ll come as well," Seraphina said at his side.

Xin didn’t have time to argue with them and just let them follow him downstairs.

Besides, this setup would also allow him to explain only one time, and he didn’t have to repeat himself the second time to Xiaxia and Seraphina.

It worked in his favor in the end.

"X-Xin, tell your sister what you did. Why are the leaders of the top guild wanted to meet you? Did you steal something from them while they were out in the Castle of Doom?" Xiaxia continued to ask in the elevator.

Xin sighed inwardly. "Why are you always assuming the worst in me?"

"I mean, what else could they be here for? Did you kill one of their members? Did you steal their kill? Did you perhaps insult them?"
