MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 315: Whispers of Hearts
Seraphina’s gentle voice washed over him like a soothing melody. "How about I introduce you to some experts within our company? They can guide you, handle your finances, and turn your ideas into reality. Rest assured, they are trustworthy professionals, not scammers."
A spark of gratitude ignited in Xin’s eyes. "Really? That would be incredibly helpful. I appreciate it. And, just so you know, I trust you completely."
A genuine smile graced Xin’s face, a rarity for someone known for his stoic demeanor.
Seraphina was well aware of this fact, and she felt like she was on cloud nine in being one of the few who could coax such warmth from him.
This marked one of those rare moments when she found herself truly content, a fleeting instance of pure happiness.
Seraphina’s composure wavered for a moment, her face flushing with a sudden rush of warmth.
She managed a shy smile, her embarrassment veiled by the elevator doors opening, providing Xin with an unwitting exit and didn’t notice Seraphina’s flushed countenance.
As they entered the room, it dawned on Xin that he was alone with Seraphina at 6 PM in the evening.
A subtle discomfort crept into his mind, a feeling he couldn’t quite place. It wasn’t always like this, and he struggled to pinpoint the source of his unease.
Something must have change. He could feel it.
"I’m going to order dinner, and after that, let’s continue our art session," Seraphina announced, breaking Xin’s contemplation.
Unintentionally, Xin glanced at her and found himself momentarily stunned by her beauty. It puzzled him how, with each look, she seemed to grow more enchanting, as if her beauty unfolded in layers with every gaze.
Something really changed . . . Xin thought, shaking his head slightly to dispel his mesmerized state.
"I’ll pay for dinner," Xin offered, attempting to shift the focus away from his bewildering thoughts.
"It’s fine. You can have your turn tomorrow," she replied, engrossed in her phone.
Xin, unsure of what else to say, decided to let the matter rest.
The established routine seemed amicable, and Seraphina knew what to say to ease his discomfort.
"I’ll just go and take a bath in my room, then," Xin blurted out, immediately noticing the unintended implication of his words.
Without correcting himself, he hastened back to his room and locked the door behind him.
Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he leaned against the door, taking a deep breath and releasing it towards the ceiling.
W-what . . . what was he saying?!
Xin wanted to pound his head against the door. His heart raced, and an unexpected warmth engulfed his body.
Xin couldn’t ignore the rapid thumping in his chest, perplexed by the sudden surge of emotions. Shaking his head, he decided to dismiss the unsettling feelings and opted for a cold shower.
As the cool water cascaded over him, Xin reflected on the familiarity of the sensations. He had experienced them before, yet this time, its intensity caught him off guard.
He like her.
Well . . . who doesn’t like Seraphina Fey?
It was a miracle that he just realized it now.
Xin promptly halted those thoughts and dismiss it; there was no way he could be the man for her.
Besides, she didn’t seem to harbor any romantic feelings for him. She was nice and kind to him because . . .
Xin found himself pondering the reason behind her warmth.
"Why is she nice and kind to me again?" Xin questioned, blinking as he contemplated this unexpected puzzle.
As Xin pondered, he found himself unable to pinpoint a definitive reason for Seraphina’s kindness.
He couldn’t recall any significant actions or events that would justify her warmth towards him or to his family.
The only plausible connection he could think of was perhaps her gratitude for his mother’s contributions to their company, but deep down, Xin knew that wasn’t the true reason.
If anything, Seraphina should be irritated with them because she definitely notice her father’s fondness for their mother.
So, the question lingered in Xin’s mind: What was the real reason behind Seraphina’s kindness?
He stared at the watch on his wrist, realizing that he couldn’t recall the last time he had removed it.
Lost in his thoughts, he wondered if, just maybe, just maybe . . . she might have some affection for him.
The notion sent a rush of red to Xin’s face, and his body heated up.
He hastily increased the cold water in the shower, hoping to cool not only his head but also the absurd idea that Seraphina might like him.
Such thoughts, he convinced himself, were reserved for dreams and fiction. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"No way," Xin muttered, shaking his head to dispel the lingering fantasies.
Meanwhile, in the hallway outside Xin’s room, Seraphina grappled with her own dilemma.
’We’re finally alone!’ she thought, clenching her fists to boost her self-confidence.
This, she believed, was the perfect opportunity to advance their relationship.
Seraphina calculated the time spent in the spa, estimating that Xiaxia and her friends would be occupied for at least two more hours.
Considering the time it would take them to return home, she concluded that she and Xin had a substantial window of privacy.
Certain that her father would keep Evelyn by his side late into the night, Seraphina sweetly smiled, ordering Xin’s favorite dishes before retreating to her room to prepare for the night ahead.
On the other hand, as Xiaxia and her friends indulged in an evening of pampering, assignments and quizzes for the next day faded into insignificance.
In that moment, nothing mattered but the pure enjoyment of the present.
Amidst the lavish pampering, Xiaxia couldn’t shake off the lingering feeling that something might be amiss.
It was unusual for her not to keep tabs on Xin and Seraphina during such moments. Normally, her awareness would be on high alert, but for some reason, her guard was down with Seraphina, granting her an unexpected level of trust.
Normally vigilant, Xiaxia’s concern shifted towards Xin, wondering if he might do something unexpected with Seraphina.
However, in the current moment, those worries seemed distant as the sheer bliss of the pampering session enveloped her senses.
For Xiaxia, every soothing touch and relaxing treatment eclipsed any lingering doubts. The world outside the spa’s cocoon ceased to exist.
"I wish this would go on forever . . . ," she sighed in contentment, her mind fully absorbed in the luxury of the present.
