Chapter 318: Maximillian’s Meltdown: Love in the Fast Lane

As the school day came to an end, Xin and Victor bid each other farewell, making plans to reconvene later in the virtual realm of Guildbane.

Xin, with his skateboard on his feet, glided through the crowded pathways, heading towards the parking lot where he intended to rendezvous with Seraphina.

She had expressed her desire to ride with him during afterschool while she nonchalantly lent her car and driver to Xiaxia.

When questioned about her desire to ride with him, she simply replied that she was savoring the feeling of the wind on her face and wanted to experience the thrill of riding a motorcycle.

Naturally, Xin, Xiaxia, and even Evelyn completely accepted her explanation without batting an eyelid.

What else could it be but curiosity, right?

However, something unusual caught Xin’s attention. The once-empty pathways were now teeming with students on skateboards, weaving and racing through the school grounds.

Maneuvering his skateboard through the unexpected crowd became a challenge, as everyone seemed to be caught up in the thrill of riding.

Xin couldn’t help but wonder about the sudden surge in skateboarding popularity. It was as if a skating craze had swept through the student body overnight.

Confusion furrowed his brow as he navigated through the maze of skaters, contemplating the reason behind this unexpected trend.

Finally reaching the parking lot, Xin spotted Seraphina standing beside his motorcycle.

However, he notice a peculiar spectacle unfolding around him. The once-unassuming parking lot had transformed into a hub of activity, with students showcasing their skateboarding skills in an attempt to impress Seraphina.

Throngs of students zipped by on skateboards, performing tricks and maneuvers with an air of confidence.

Some even revved the engines of their expensive and luxurious motorcycles, creating an orchestrated cacophony that echoed through the air.

The atmosphere was charged with an unspoken competition, each rider vying for Seraphina’s attention with their flashy displays.

Strangely, however, as Xin observed, none of these motorcycle enthusiasts seemed to be leaving the driveway.

They merely sat atop their sleek machines, idling in anticipation, as if waiting for something.

The purr of powerful engines filled the air, creating an oddly static scene. It was as if they were frozen in time, caught in a momentary pause.

The intriguing part was that almost everyone had now seemingly acquired a motorcycle, making Xin’s initial confusion morph into genuine bewilderment.

Students who had never shown interest in motorcycles before were now among the ranks of riders, adding an element of surrealism to the entire situation.

Xin couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this sudden surge of motorcycle enthusiasts than met the eye.

"Sorry, did you wait long?" Xin inquired, attempting to break the unsettling tension that lingered in the air.

Seraphina’s impermeable demeanor underwent a subtle transformation, and a sweet smile blossomed on her face, leaving onlookers sighing in bliss, and green with envy.

"Not long. I’ve just arrived seconds ago," she replied, her tone laced with a hint of amusement. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Should we go then?" Xin suggested, feeling the weight of the accumulating glares and hushed whispers around them.

"Before that . . ." Seraphina approached Xin, closing the distance between them.

Leaning over, she stopped just inches from his face, her presence commanding attention.

Xin tried to maintain his stoic composure, and felt his heart skip a beat as Seraphina reached out and gently touched his face.

The contact, though brief and delicate as a feather’s caress, sent tingling electric currents racing to his core.

Onlookers stared in disbelief, their mouths agape, and jealousy radiating from their every pore.

"You have some dirt on your face," Seraphina giggled, her voice a melodious contrast to the stunned silence around them.

Xin was still processing the unexpected touch, and rubbed his face with his hand, realizing the charcoal from his artwork had left its mark. "Ah, it must be the charcoal. Is there more?"

Seraphina shook her head, her eyes sparkling with amusement, and proceeded to put on her helmet. "No. Let’s go. The crowd here is suffocating."

Xin immediately started the engine, the comforting roar drowning out the whispers and gazes of curious onlookers.

With Seraphina settled comfortably behind him, they smoothly maneuvered out of the campus, leaving the intense scrutiny behind.

Finally free from the scrutinizing stares of fellow students, Xin guided the motorcycle through the bustling streets, heading home to their apartment.

Meanwhile, at the side, Maximillian was just recently discharged from the hospital, and found himself once again in the grip of a seizure.

Blood sprayed from his nose, and frothy bubbles escaped from his mouth, creating a disturbing scene reminiscent of someone poisoned by an overwhelming dose of shock and disbelief.

He was poisoned by what he had witnessed.

During Maximillian’s absence, the prevailing assumption among their peers was that Seraphina and Xin’s fling would be short-lived.

Few took the relationship seriously, expecting it to fizzle out within a week.

However, upon Maximillian’s return, he was confronted with a reality that shattered his preconceived notions.

Instead of witnessing the anticipated demise of their connection, he discovered Seraphina and Xin riding together on a motorcycle!

To his dismay, the relationship had not only endured but progressed to a point where laughter and physical contact were exchanged freely between them.

The shocking sight elicited panic among the onlookers as Maximillian collapsed.

A flurry of shouts for help filled the air, and the sudden distress caught everyone off guard.

"Bro! Hang in there!"

"Call an ambulance! The ambulance!"

"Bro, don’t die on us!"

Maximillian felt a whirlwind of emotions — shock, grief, disappointment, and anger.

The overwhelming flood of sentiments made him question whether he even wanted to continue living after witnessing such an unexpected scene.

Xin . . . Maximillian gritted his teeth. You would surely pay for this.

In the midst of this emotional turmoil, Xin was completely unaware of the unfolding drama, and sneezed on the road, attributing it to Xiaxia possibly talking negatively about him.

"It must be the cold," Seraphina said from behind, tightening her hold on Xin, her warmth providing reassurance.

Xin struggled for breath and managed to utter, "I couldn’t breathe . . ."

"Oh, sorry," Seraphina quickly loosened her grip. "I thought of giving you my warmth so you won’t be cold."

Xin glanced to the side, perplexed by Seraphina’s words. She was probably teasing him again.

What else could it be? Right?

"Thanks, but I’m wearing a jacket, so I’m fine. How about you?"

Seraphina chuckled. "You’re warm, so I’m fine right here."

Xin found himself at a loss for words, uncertain about her response. Opting to let it go, he focused on the road as the traffic light turned green, allowing them to move forward.

In the present moment, Xin refrained from assigning deeper significance to Seraphina’s gestures and words, as he preferred not to set himself up for potential disappointment.

Perhaps her actions were merely a result of their supposed relationship status, an act to fool the masses.

Despite the current state of their relationship being a bit perplexing, Xin felt content with it as it was.

He hesitated to delve into complexities that might complicate matters further.
