Chapter 325: Sylvan’s Attitude

The leader of the opposing team, Supreme Warrior, a proud warrior adorned in imposing armor, felt his composure slipping away as he gritted his teeth, the taste of bitter defeat lingering on his tongue.

His once-confident demeanor now wavered, replaced by disbelief and frustration.

How could this happen?

They might not be well known but they were still a formidable force –– ten skilled individuals, their levels surpassing Sylvan’s group, and a dedicated healer at their disposal.

Yet, against all odds, they crumbled without a clear understanding of why.

As the leader’s mind raced, he mentally replayed the skirmish. They had the numerical advantage, the higher levels, and the healing support, so what went wrong?

His narrowed eyes scanned the battlefield, seeking answers among the chaos. His attention had been fixated on Grey Smoke and the renowned solo players, assuming them to be the primary threats.

Little did he realize that his oversight would be their downfall.

Suddenly, his gaze shifted towards Lord Scrooge and the armor-clad dwarf standing steadfast beside him.

How could he have missed them?

They had blended into the background, seemingly insignificant in the grand scheme of the battle.

The leader’s eyes widened with sudden realization. Had they moved just before?

He didn’t know because his focus had been on the well-known players.

Could they be the reason . . .

Supreme Warrior’s overconfidence had been his blind spot.

The realization dawned on him too late.

He and his team were already fading away into particles, their defeat evident by the drops scattered on the ground as they died away.

"Damn it!" Supreme Warrior hissed before finally disappearing.

"Hmp. serves you right for taking our kill," Luna remarked, a mischievous tone in her voice as she picked up the drops on the ground. "Eheeheehee. More loots for us."

"Those guys are strong, but thankfully Hilda was swift in taking down their mage and healer," said Ignis, his initial thoughts about Hilda undergoing a complete transformation.

Her immense power left him astounded, finding himself unable to fully follow her movements when she launched into attacks.

Even more baffling was the fact that she could effortlessly one-shot those players. Was her strength enormous, or was it simply that the defense of those mages and healers was nonexistent?

It might very well be the latter.

Though Ignis couldn’t say the same for Lord Scrooge.

Throughout the entire fight, he had merely stood by the side, and Ignis could only hope that Sylvan wouldn’t mind, though that didn’t happen.

"Hey, you! Why are you picking up loot?" Sylvan confronted Lord Scrooge, who was about to pick up an item on the ground, drops from the defeated opposing players.

"Me?" replied Xin in a matter-of-fact tone.

This only intensified Sylvan’s anger with Lord Scrooge’s nonchalant response.

"Yes, you! How dare you pick up the items when you didn’t even fight? No items for you," Sylvan declared, drawing gestures in the air.

Xin didn’t mind; he was only helping in picking them up, though he couldn’t gauge whether Sylvan was a kid or not.

Sylvan had a strict and overbearing attitude, displaying both guts and bravery in confronting enemies.

However, he also seemed to be childish, with an attitude reminiscent of a snooty brat.

"Ah, I was just . . . ," Xin began to explain, but Hilda stomped forward and growled.

"What do you mean Lord Scrooge didn’t do anything? If you hadn’t picked a fight with those lots, we wouldn’t have fought them to begin with. In fact, you’re the one who instigated the conflict, so you should have fought them alone. It wasn’t our battle, and just be glad that I even helped because Lord Scrooge asked me to."

Xin felt the urge to facepalm himself at the strangeness of Hilda’s explanation.

She had a point, yet it seemed to lack a point simultaneously, creating a peculiar contradiction.

"What did you say?" Sylvan frowned, barking back, "I am your boss. I’m the one who hired you to begin with, so you should protect me."

The corner of Hilda’s lips rose in disdain. "Huh? Boss?"

In that moment, Xin interjected, stopping Hilda, and said, "Sorry, I didn’t participate in the battle. Rest assured that I won’t take any items here."

"L-lord Scrooge . . ." Hilda began to protest, but one look from Lord Scrooge silenced her. She pressed her lips tight and refrained from saying more, brooding on the side with crossed arms.

"Alright, enough of this," Victor interjected, drawing attention to himself. "Let’s just gather these drops and move on to the next area. We’ve already wasted an hour in this location, and we only have another hour left today."

Sylvan huffed in response. "And whose fault is that? If that guy had only helped in the first place, then the fight would have finished early."

"You . . ." An angry vein popped on Hilda’s forehead, and Xin quickly stopped her with a shake of his head.

"Remember, I can replace you anytime, so do your job well!" Sylvan turned his back and moved ahead.

Meanwhile, Victor tapped Xin’s shoulder and whispered in his ear, "Like I said, don’t mind him."

"I don’t. It’s just . . ." Xin glanced over at Hilda, who was staring daggers at Sylvan’s back. He was afraid that she might do something drastic and harm their ’boss’.

Now he wasn’t sure whether bringing Hilda here was the right choice.

"Just let it pass through your next ear," Victor advised Hilda, tapping her shoulder before moving on.

"He should be glad that Lord Scrooge stopped me, or his head would roll," Hilda muttered to herself.

Xin sighed to the side and pretended he hadn’t heard her utter those words.

Eventually, the group moved forward cautiously, navigating through the dense foliage of the Lost Forest.

As they ventured deeper, the ambient sounds of the forest intensified, with the distant calls of unseen creatures echoing through the air.

Shadows danced between the trees, adding an extra layer of danger to their surroundings.

Soon, the party encountered more beasts lurking in the shadows.

Monstrous creatures with razor-sharp claws and gleaming eyes emerged from the underbrush, their presence sending a shiver down the spines of even the most seasoned players.

With Hilda in their ranks, there seemed to be no adversary beyond their capability, and as a result, the group effortlessly breezed through the enemies of the forest.
