Chapter 388: A Shift in Perspective

Caught in the whirlwind of events, Xin found himself grappling with a whirlwind of emotions.

He couldn’t help but feel a mixture of astonishment and disbelief at the sudden turn of events, his mind struggling to comprehend the significance of Seraphina’s bid.

If there were any doubts lingering in Xin’s mind about Seraphina’s influence and power before, they were swiftly dispelled by the scene right now.

She wielded a level of influence that transcended mere wealth and status, her mere presence capable of shaping the course of events with effortless charm.

In that moment, Xin realized the extent of Seraphina’s influence, her ability to sway markets and dictate trends with a single gesture.

She was a force to be reckoned with, a titan of industry and finance whose reach extended far beyond the confines of the auction room.

As the bidding war ensued, Xin couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer magnitude of Seraphina’s impact. She held the power to move mountains and reshape destinies, her actions sending ripples through the fabric of society. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

And he wasn’t even exaggerating. Overnight, Xin became a well-known artist solely because of her favor.

Now, he realized why so many people wanted to be in her good side.

Whether he liked it or not, Xin had become someone who was popular in his craft, and it was all thanks to her.

Xin didn’t know what to feel about that fact, but he was grateful to her, nonetheless.

Although . . . he had to admit that Seraphina seemed to solve most of his problems in the past and in the present.

He was the man, but he was continually being helped by her. That put a strain on his pride and ego for some reason.

In the past, it didn’t concern him, but now . . .

Xin shook off the thought and focused at the present.

In the end, it was still Seraphina who bid the highest, and no one could compete with her price reaching twenty million, just a little lower than Viviane’s painting.

The outcome didn’t sit well with Victor, and it very much didn’t sit well with Viviane either.

Xin, on the other hand, had forgotten about the auction and quickly went to see Seraphina when the bidding finished.

However, he didn’t get that chance as Seraphina left before the others could surround her.

Xin could only sigh and decided to wait until he got back to the apartment to confront her about this.

As the auction drew to a close and the final bids were announced, Xin bolted out of the auction after bidding farewell to Victor.

Victor had wanted to throw a party to celebrate their success in the auction, but Xin declined, citing urgent matters that needed his attention at home.

However, he promised to join Victor in celebrating the following day.

Xin and Xiaxia hurried home, the two of them silent in the car until Xiaxia broke the stillness first.

"Hey, Xin. Why do you think Sister Seraphina bought your painting for twenty million? I mean, no offense, your painting is amazing, but . . . you have to admit that the price was too high, and she was relentless in getting that painting back there. It wasn’t even her portrait."

"That’s what I’m going to ask her later," Xin replied, his thoughts swirling with confusion over Seraphina’s actions.

Xiaxia fell silent for a moment, contemplating her brother’s words before speaking again, her tone measured. "Neh . . . could it be that . . . Sister Seraphina really likes you? I mean, not in a fake way, but in, like . . . a real way?"

Xin paused, taken aback by his sister’s suggestion. Slowly, he turned to face Xiaxia, his brow furrowing in disbelief.

The two of them locked eyes for a moment, uncertainty hanging heavy in the air, before they both burst into laughter.

Even Xin couldn’t help but force a laugh at the absurdity of his sister’s notion.

"Stop putting ideas into my head. Seraphina wouldn’t like someone like me," Xin said, his face returned to their usual stoniness, attempting to dismiss Xiaxia’s theory.

Xiaxia pouted, unconvinced by her brother’s response. "Don’t you think I know that? But the way she was acting in the past and until now . . . that’s a girl in love!"

Xin shook his head, unable to entertain the idea any longer. "You’re reading too much into it, Xiaxia. Seraphina is just being generous, that’s all."

Despite his attempts to brush off Xiaxia’s speculation, a seed of doubt had been planted in Xin’s mind.

As they continued their journey home, he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that there might be more to Seraphina’s actions than met the eye.

Upon arriving at the apartment, Xin made a beeline for Seraphina’s room, his mind consumed with questions and uncertainty.

However, before he could even knock on the door, he sensed Xiaxia trailing behind him.

"What do you want?" Xin asked her, his tone flat and devoid of emotion.

Xiaxia glanced around nervously before responding, "Well . . . I’m just curious about what you two are going to talk about, so . . ."

"Get lost, Xiaxia. I mean it," Xin interrupted, his patience wearing thin.

"What?" Xiaxia persisted, unwilling to give up the opportunity to glean information about the real score between Xin and Seraphina. "What if you say something stupid? You need someone to advise you on matters of the heart."

"I’m not here to talk about anything regarding matters of the heart, so get lost," Xin reiterated, his frustration evident in his voice.

"Why are you being so difficult? This is not just about you anymore. My life is also affected here by the way you treat Sister Seraphina," Xiaxia argued, her persistence bordering on annoyance.

"You’re not making any sense, and I know that you’re only here to gossip, so go to your room," Xin ordered, growing increasingly exasperated.

Before Xiaxia could offer another retort, the door suddenly swung open, revealing Seraphina standing there in a nightgown.

From the looks of it, she was preparing to retire for the night.

"What are you two doing in front of my room?" Seraphina asked, her voice tinged with amusement as she surveyed the scene before her.
