MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith-Chapter 1356: Nine Prodigies of Astella (13)
"…"
"…That…"
"…That was fucking awesome!"
As the bombardment of spells Valyr threw at his opponent finally began to clear up, the crowd immediately erupted into a cacophony of cheers, their impressions of the young man having been renewed once more.
From the first to the eighth round of the tournament, the crowd watched him slowly claw his way towards the higher ranks, giving his strength all the time it needed to be recognized by everyone.
Of course, with his strength being far above what someone at the peak of Rank 2 could normally unleash, he was able to attract the attention of multiple organizations, with most of them looking at him as if they were their beacon of hope.
However, that all changed after Valyr suffered two consecutive defeats during the ninth round, which caused the crowd and the organizations to have a wake-up call of sorts.
Though the young man was still incredibly strong in his own right, it was then and there that they realized that there was a limit to the strength of the dark horse they followed throughout the tournament.
…Only for that impression to be turned on its head upside down once more thanks to his current fight.
At this point, almost everyone in the crowd began to pay attention to Valyr. In fact, even those who were adamant in their belief that he wouldn't amount to much were forced to change their minds after witnessing what he'd just done.
After all, which normal Rank 2 class holder would be able to fight against a Rank 4 class holder and triumph?
To no surprise, Valyr's decision to make use of [Soul Fusion] had caused him to enter the radar of far more people than ever before, with both people and organizations now wanting to know everything about him.
"…Urgh." Having become the target of Valyr's final spell bombardment, it went without saying that the assassin looked greatly disheveled, the dark energy surrounding his body just moments earlier now only to amounting to mere embers.
Taking some time to heal the more serious injuries he'd obtained from his opponent's attacks, the man eventually stood up and gave Valyr a slightly wry smile. "Is this your answer to what I've done to you in the first battle?"
"That, and I guess a lot more than I was bargaining for," answered the young man in return as he flashed a wry smile of his own. "You could say I let the heat of the moment get the better of me."
"As if that wasn't already obvious," replied the assassin, letting out a slight chuckle in response.
After that, he let out a faint sigh as he extended his hand. "Elaim."
"Florence Elaim."
"Ataraxia," replied Valyr, only to then scratch the back of his head after that. "Though, I'm sure you already know that by now."
"At this point, it probably would've been weirder for someone here to not know of you," replied the man, giving the arbiter a heads-up that he was admitting defeat to Valyr after that.
"In any case, congratulations."
"You're not planning to continue the fight?" asked Valyr, looking back at his opponent with slightly widened eyes.
"Even if I did, what's the point?" responded the man, letting out yet another wry chuckle. "Wouldn't that just mean I'd have to receive another one of your spell barrages again?"
"I may be ruthless while fighting, but I do know my limits."
Seeing as his opponent had no intentions of continuing their fight any longer, Valyr shifted his gaze towards the arbiter, which immediately prompted the latter to announce his victory against the assassin.
Receiving a maelstrom of cheers and shouts talking about his feats during the battle, the two soon made their way back to where the 12 were.
However, unlike before, the young man was now heading towards the spot the man previously occupied, while the man headed towards the spot Valyr previously occupied.

Feeling a sense of satisfaction from currently being first on the ranking, Valyr briefly swept his gaze over the eight beside him, already expecting that any one of them would aim for his current position.
After all, even though he did showcase a level of power that slightly surpassed what they could unleash…
Was such an ability only a one-time thing? Or was it something Valyr could use it continuous succession?
Confident that the possibility of the former happening was high, the ninth round continued its battles in full swing, with the person that accompanied both him and Nightingale finally being given the turn to choose his opponent to fight against.
Unsurprisingly, the man decided to choose Valyr as his first opponent, deciding to also bet on the possibility that the ability Valyr used was only something he could use sparingly.
However, when he found out that the young man was able to achieve that same level of power again in their next fight, the man immediately forfeited, causing Valyr's reputation to rise yet again.
As the ninth round's battles continued, almost everyone making up the eight beside him decided to challenge Valyr as both a test of their current capabilities and a gamble to possibly achieve first place through some sort of fluke.
Naturally, the young man made sure to stop the latter from happening, deciding to use [Soul Fusion] continuously against all of those that had courage to use one of their chances to fight him.
Though, as more and more of the battles occurred, the more Valyr realized that perhaps making constant use of the skill wasn't as good of an idea as he thought.
After all, even though he could constantly activate it, that still didn't change the fact that the effects were merely temporary.
Not only that, but there was a high possibility that his actions just now had made him a prime target for some organizations.
With his normal level of strength only at the level of an average peak Rank 3 class holder, he was basically putting himself into even more danger if he were to continue using it.
With that, the young man decided to stop using the skill after a few more fights, giving both the crowd and the opponents the illusion that there was a limit to how many times he could use the skill in a row.
Because of that, it went without saying that Valyr was unable to maintain his spot as first in the current ranking.
But fortunately, by the time everyone used up all of their chances to fight each other, the young man's final position in the ranking was at 7th, giving him the opportunity to continue onto the Myriad Prodigies Tournament.
And thus, the Nine Prodigies of Astella Tournament was finally over.
