MMORPG: War God, You are Invincible Again-Chapter 595 - 83: Great Changes in Dongsheng
Chapter 595: Chapter 83: Great Changes in Dongsheng
Wu Jiang first withdrew the military garrison from the stronghold and handed Barré over to Xie’an, thinking that Xie’an would kill Barré. However, unexpectedly, Xie’an also played a clever trick. During Barré’s captivity, he struck a deal with him to fake his death and deceive Wu Jiang, who was watching from the shadows. He then imprisoned him.
Although they lost Barré, a top-tier leader, Wu Jiang, who still controlled a million soldiers, remained a tough bone to chew. The allied forces were initially prepared for a prolonged war. However, Wu Jiang somehow discovered a way to enter the Extreme Magic Abyss. He first used the war to kill all the generals loyal to Barré, and then led his troops into the Extreme Magic Abyss.
"So, that’s why the Extreme Magic Abyss was so quickly taken by the Human Race?" Tai’e took a deep breath. It wasn’t just Barré he had misjudged; it was Wu Jiang. The Abyss, pivotal to the everlasting prosperity of the Beastman Race, and all he could think about was whether he could reclaim the throne that was once his.
Just by that alone, he wasn’t fit to be the Orc Emperor.
"No wonder Konstantin could reach out to me. At first, I didn’t believe the news of your capture..."
Barré was Tai’e’s brother. Seeing his own brother in such a desolate state, Tai’e couldn’t bear to blame him any further and then said, "Forget it, come back with me!"
Nuoshan guessed right — Konstantin indeed had played a trick on this lion-led expedition, using Barré’s life as leverage to orchestrate this charade of a battle.
His goal was smoothly achieved. Many of the strong, who dominated separate realms, were secretly killed. In the recent days, realms that lost their top leaders all submitted to Konstantin, sending troops unconditionally to aid the empire, their subservient attitude crystal clear.
The Extreme Magic Abyss was sealed again, and the war between the two great empires was put to an end. However, this peace was temporary. Every ruler knew, Tai’e would not give up on the Abyss. When the Orc Empire launches its next expedition, it would be fiercer and more brutal than this one.
Konstantin was quite pleased with the outcome of his plotting, but the news about the Extreme Magic Abyss again gave him a headache.
A night meeting was held between Eagle Alliance Duke Nuoshan, Snow Realm Emperor Bu Sheng, and Human Emperor Konstantin.
Duke Nuoshan first affirmed the results of the war, which were not far off from what the allies had anticipated, eventually siding with the victors.
Bu Sheng agreed: "After two close collaborations between the Snowy Region and the Human Race, I believe we should continue this partnership especially since Tai’e won’t give up on the Extreme Magic Abyss."
Konstantin nodded, "I agree with your decision wholeheartedly. The front of humans and the Snowy Region is united; there’s no need for infighting."
"Then, about Prince Wu Jiang you just mentioned, has he really entered the Extreme Magic Abyss?" Nuoshan asked once again.
"Yes, Xie’an’s report was very clear: Wu Jiang led an army of around six hundred thousand deep into the Extreme Magic Abyss and vanished without a trace. The allied forces also tried to enter but all attempts ended in failure."
"So, it’s likely that Wu Jiang could return in the future with an army enhanced by the Extreme Magic Abyss?" Bu Sheng frowned slightly, "This is disadvantageous for the defenses of the Abyss. We need to guard against Tai’e from the outside and Wu Jiang from the inside. The allied forces currently stationed there, should perhaps not be ordered to return yet, as it’s difficult to predict how long Wu Jiang will stay inside."
"That’s my thinking as well." Konstantin nodded and then looked toward Nuoshan, "Duke, what do you think?"
"If you two think it’s fine, then it’s fine by me. The Eagle Alliance firmly supports you, but... you need to figure out a way to provide proper rations for this large army. The Eagle Alliance is far too distant from the Extreme Magic Abyss, transporting supplies is troublesome. I hope the Snowy Region and the Holy Divine Empire can shoulder all the expenses of our alliance’s troops."
"That’s no problem, I’ll cover it," Konstantin smiled slightly and then introduced the next topic of discussion: "Regarding the Netherworld... what are your thoughts?"
"The Netherworld is our common enemy. Perhaps we could even pull in Tai’e for a discussion," Nuoshan suggested.
However, the other two quickly dismissed the idea. Joking aside, Tai’e was probably fuming from his recent defeat. Collaborating with him? That would just be asking for trouble.
"Alright, then we’ll resolve it ourselves," Nuoshan shrugged, showing indifference, as long as you all are happy.
"What should we do?" Konstantin handed the initiative to the two of them.
Bu Sheng pondered for a moment, then spoke up. "I’ll start. The Underworld does not have many traces within the major planes controlled by my Snowy Region; it hasn’t affected the subordinate planes of the Snowy Region much. However, a border plane of my Snowy Region was completely overtaken by the Underworld forces. This happened three hours ago and I’m still thinking about how to handle it. The Human Race has fought the Underworld numerous times, do you have any suggestions on what we should be wary of?"
Konstantin’s eyebrows furrowed slightly at this point. The Underworld brazenly taking over the Snowy Region’s plane, what were they planning?
Noting this down, Konstantin responded to Bu Sheng’s question. "The magic power within the Underworld forces is very unique, almost able to subdue all magic powers, with the sole exception of Holy Light. Hence, in a battle of equals, one must never be careless. If invaded by Underworld power, first suppress it and seek professionals who possess the power of Holy Light to dispel them. That’s the most effective method."
The superiority of Holy Light over Underworld powers made Bu Sheng uneasy. He turned to Duke Nuoshan. "The revered ancestors of my Snowy Region do not have professions that possess the power of Holy Light. I have heard that within the Eagle Alliance there exists a Holy Court, teeming with strong proponents of Holy Light. I wonder if Duke Nuoshan could assist us a little? I won’t let the Holy Court’s champions join the battle directly; they just need to help dispel the Underworld corruption from the rear."
"I’m not entirely in a position to decide that," replied Nuoshan. "I’ll send a request to the current Archbishop of the Holy Court, Jin Fu, and if I get a response, I will relay it to you immediately."
Before Bu Sheng could thank him, a courtier—Zheke—interrupted in Konstantin’s magical projection.
"What’s so urgent?" Zheke had the privilege to report at any time directly to Konstantin, bringing fresh news straight into Konstantin’s palace.
However, Zheke rarely used it, usually entering the room after being announced by the guards at the entrance. This sudden intrusion must indicate a significant event.
Zheke, covered in sweat, glanced at the magic projection but did not speak directly.
"Speak, it’s alright."
Upon receiving Konstantin’s approval, Zheke said, "Your Majesty, it’s terrible news. Out of the 102 planes in the East Sheng, 83 have just declared independence and raised the Underworld’s flags; they... have all come under the control of the Underworld, and Liu Shanhe’s third lineage is far more numerous than we had imagined."
"What?!" exclaimed Konstantin and the leaders of the three groups. Eighty-three planes entirely in the hands of the Underworld? Did the Underworld already have such formidable strength hidden in the Star Sea?!
"What about Liu Donglin!" Konstantin asked sharply.
"Duke Liu is being besieged by the Underworld’s armies, currently defending the East Sheng plane. There is no immediate danger of falling, but he is also trapped and unable to unite with other planes to mount an effective counterattack. Your Majesty, what should we do now?"
Konstantin walked over to a map of the Star Sea hanging on the wall behind him. "Tell me, what planes are under Underworld control?"
Zheke quickly pinpointed them on the map. These planes formed an encircling position around East Sheng, putting it in grave danger!
"East Sheng must not fall. Liu Donglin is the pivotal support for the East Sheng region. As long as he holds, the planes that have not revolted will continue to resist the Underworld forces. If Liu Donglin dies, the rest of the East Sheng’s planes will turn into loose sand, easily breached by the Underworld.
"Immediately contact the remaining loyal plane officers of East Sheng to establish numerous portals, and also order me to dispatch the garrisons from the three major planes of Sanshan, Zuo’an, and Qili to rescue Liu Donglin!"
"The Snowy Region would like to withdraw 500,000 elite troops to assist the Empire in quelling the chaos caused by the Underworld."
"The Eagle Alliance has brought limited troops this time; half are currently stationed at the Extreme Magic Abyss. The remaining troops are at Emperor Konstantin’s disposal." Nuoshan continued, "This sudden move by the Underworld must also trigger a chain reaction within the northern regions, creating significant changes. We must prepare in advance. Additionally, I will contact Archbishop Jin Fu as soon as possible to provide professionals of Holy Light for war support."
