Mobuseka:Leon's Adventure-Chapter 102: Apology to the Fiancée (3)
Chapter 102 - Apology to the Fiancée (3)
" So, what do you want?" Clarisse spoke in a calm yet cold voice, one that carried an unmistakable hostility. Her gaze pierced through Jilk from all directions, as sharp as a dagger, leaving him no chance to escape its intensity.
The room was filled with her followers, along with Leon, Angelica, and Olivia. Their presence only added to the suffocating tension — almost everyone was staring at Jilk with open disdain, as if he were the root of all their troubles.
Feeling the weight of their hostile stares, Jilk couldn't help but feel a shiver run down his spine. However, summoning all his resolve, he did what he came here to do.
Unexpectedly, he leaned forward slightly, maintaining a surprisingly composed demeanor, and spoke:
" I sincerely apologize for all my mistakes."
For a moment, a heavy silence fell over the room. All eyes turned to Clarisse.
Her previously unshaken expression began to contort.
" You're apologizing now?!" Her voice wasn't loud, but the storm of emotions within her was unmistakable. " Do you have any idea how long I've waited to hear those words from you?"
She exhaled sharply, her hands clenching into fists.
" How many letters did I send you, only for them to go unanswered?! How many times did I try to speak with you, but you ignored me, never even giving me a chance to say everything I had bottled up inside?! You... you never even tried to understand what I went through!"
Her voice wavered, but she pressed on:
" I was your fiancée... or rather, I used to be!" Her voice nearly broke as she shouted those last words, gritting her teeth. " It's far too late for apologies, Jilk!"
Despite her furious gaze and her noticeably raised voice, Jilk remained outwardly calm. He looked at her with a hint of sadness before speaking again.
" I... never meant to lie to you," he said, taking a deep breath. " It's just that... I had already fallen in love with someone else."
The moment those words left his lips, Clarisse shot to her feet.
A loud slap shattered the silence, ringing through the room like the crack of a whip.
A red mark instantly spread across Jilk's cheek. The tension in the air thickened.
" Lie to me?!" Clarisse was breathing heavily, her shoulders trembling. " You lied to yourself!"
She stared straight into his eyes, unblinking, as if trying to burn a hole through him with her gaze.
" You let her seduce you... while I was giving everything I had for us, with all my heart! Why? Why did you choose her over me?!"
Tears began to well up in the corners of her eyes.
Hearing her words and seeing the tears forming, Jilk momentarily lost his voice. He didn't know what to say, but after gathering his thoughts, he simply closed his eyes and softly admitted:
" I don't know myself... But I love her. That's why I couldn't face you until now."
Those words triggered an immediate reaction. Clarisse didn't just get angry — her face twisted with pure rage, and her clenched fists trembled from the strain. Angelica, too, could no longer contain her fury, pressing her lips together so hard that her knuckles turned white. Olivia, on the other hand, didn't look angry so much as deeply disappointed — she turned her gaze away, as if she couldn't bear to look at Jilk any longer.
" I just told you everything I feel..." he continued, trying to explain himself. " The truth is, I knew that if we met, I would hurt you, Clarisse..."
But before he could finish, Clarisse, no longer holding back her tears, screamed:
" Enough! Don't you dare call me by my name ever again!"
Her voice shook, but it held steel. Turning her back to him, she took a sharp breath, barely managing to suppress her sobs, and in a barely audible yet firm tone, added:
" Just... just leave. I don't want anything to do with you anymore."
Jilk closed his eyes for a moment, as if her words had pierced right through him. Then, bowing his head slightly, he quietly said:
" I'm sorry... Forgive me..."
With that, he turned around and walked out of the room, leaving behind nothing but a suffocating silence.
---
That silence, heavy and oppressive after Jilk's departure, was soon broken by the voice of Dan Fia Elgar — Clarisse's most trusted follower. He stepped forward, bowed his head slightly, and spoke with genuine gratitude:
" Thank you very much, Viscount Bartfort. We firmly believe that helping Lady Clarisse overcome her struggles and find peace is thanks to you above all. No matter how much we wished to, we couldn't do anything to ease her pain or comfort her. But you, from the very beginning, have been there for her. We owe you a great debt."
At his words, the rest of Clarisse's followers also lowered their heads in gratitude.
Leon, flustered by the unexpected attention, hurriedly waved his hands.
" Oh... Just call me Leon. Really, there's no need to thank me. I only did what I thought was right."
Just then, Clarisse lowered her head, her hands trembling slightly as she clenched them into fists. Taking a deep breath, she looked at her followers and, mustering all her courage, spoke:
" I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. For my mistakes... For pushing you all away in my darkest moments, ignoring your support. I let my emotions blind me, and I nearly did so many foolish things..."
Her voice was filled with remorse, but this time, it was genuine. Her followers exchanged glances, then, one by one, began to smile, making it clear that they held no resentment toward her.
As this conversation unfolded, Angelica and Olivia approached Leon.
" You did well, Leon," Angelica said with a gentle smile.

" Leon is amazing..." Olivia murmured softly, sincere admiration in her voice.
Hearing their words, Leon felt a surge of pride — but at the same time, he realized something: Damn it, I can't show it! If he let himself get too full of pride, Luxion would immediately find a way to ruin the moment.
And, as if confirming his fears, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his ears. Luxion, having activated his camouflage, floated near him unnoticed.
" Fine, I'll allow you to enjoy this moment... just this once," the AI's tone carried a hint of sarcasm, almost as if it were human.
Leon's eyes widened in shock. Did Luxion just... show kindness? He could hardly believe it, but he wasn't about to question it. Straightening up, he stood even taller, allowing himself to feel the well-earned sense of accomplishment.
Meanwhile, Clarisse had finished speaking with her followers and now turned toward Leon. Her eyes, once filled with sorrow, now shone with gratitude.
" Leon... Once again, thank you for everything. Because of you, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my heart."
" Huh? Well... it was nothing, really," he replied, slightly taken aback.
Clarisse hesitated for a moment, as if gathering her thoughts. Then, her lips quivered, and unable to hold back her emotions any longer, she suddenly threw herself at Leon, wrapping her arms around him tightly.
Tears streamed down her cheeks, but her voice was filled with nothing but sincerity and relief.
" Really... Thank you..."
