Mobuseka:Leon's Adventure-Chapter 115
Chapter 115 - 115
"I wonder where everyone's gone..." murmured Luce, wife of Barkus, as she gazed thoughtfully out the window.
It had been several hours since her husband had left the house, taking their eldest son Nyx, their older daughter Jenna, and the youngest, Finley, along with him. Each of them had been armed with water guns, their faces lit up with the kind of excitement that usually spelled fun — and probably something not entirely in line with the household rules.
At first, Luce had assumed Barkus was finally going to punish Jenna for her recent antics at the academy. And to be fair, he had more than enough reason — after the last call from the headmaster, the whole family had been doing nothing but blushing from embarrassment. Yet, instead of anger, Luce had noticed a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Something didn't add up.
More than four hours had passed, and there was still no sign of them. Not a single child had wandered into the kitchen looking for a snack, nor had anyone sprinted down the hallway screaming or laughing. Even Barkus — who usually couldn't go an hour without making a comment about the house's cleanliness — had vanished without a trace.
"Maybe I should go look for them..." she said quietly to herself, her brows furrowing as she considered it.
While mulling it over, Luce began getting ready to head out. She'd already thrown on a light shawl and slipped into her shoes when she heard a familiar sound growing louder from outside — laughter, shouts, gleeful exclamations, and the unmistakable splashing of water.
She stepped onto the porch and froze in surprise: the whole family was walking back up the path toward the house — but they weren't alone. Two guests, Angelica and Lucy, were with them. Every single person looked like they had just leapt out of a lake: their hair was soaking wet and tousled, clothes clinging to them, and their faces glowing with a mix of exhaustion and joy.
"Okay, what on earth happened to you all?" she asked, eyes wide as she scanned them from head to toe.
"We... were playing," Barkus replied with a heavy breath. Water was dripping down his face, mixing with sweat, and his voice carried the tone of complete and utter fatigue.
"Was fun!" Colin chimed in enthusiastically, voice high and cheery.
"Playing? That was torture!" Jenna burst out, barely holding back tears. "Look at my clothes! They're not just wet — they're ruined! Covered in mud! And I paid for them myself, mind you!"
Finley, walking beside her, patted her back in a half-hearted attempt at comfort. She was clearly trying — and failing — to hide her own amusement.
"Honestly, it was the best thing that's happened all day," Leon snickered, shooting Jenna a mischievous grin. He was clearly relishing every second of the chaos.
Luce let out a long sigh as she looked over her soggy, noisy, but unmistakably happy family. Their hair was plastered to their faces, clothes sticking to their skin, but their laughter sparkled like the droplets of water that still clung to them. For a brief moment, it felt like all the day's worries had melted away in the splash of a water fight and the sound of shared laughter.
"All of you — go get washed up and change into something dry and decent," she said firmly, though a smile tugged at her lips as she crossed her arms.
"Yes, ma'am!" they all chorused — even the youngest ones — before hurrying toward the house, leaving a trail of wet footprints behind them.
But then Barkus suddenly stopped as if remembering something, and turned back to his wife.
"Oh, right, darling," he said. "Let the staff know to start preparing a feast. Tonight is going to be special!"
Luce raised an eyebrow and nodded with a knowing smirk — she already had a hunch about where this was going.
Right on cue, Leon seemed to recall something as well. His gaze landed on Yumeria — his personal servant, a silver-haired elven woman who just happened to be passing by at that moment.
"Yumeria," he called out, "take a few other servants and head to my estate. Bring back the alcohol — anything you can find. Don't hold back."
"As you wish. I'll return shortly," she replied with a gentle smile and a slight bow before disappearing down the corridor.
Barkus, perking up at that, quickened his pace to catch up with Leon, speaking in an excited tone:
"The wine from your lands is simply incredible, Leon! You hardly ever let me have any... What's gotten into you today? And hey — tell your old man your secret. How do you make it?"
"Let's just say I have my reasons for being generous today," Leon said with a sly grin, tossing his father a sideways glance. "I promised the two brothers who delivered my letter a good treat. They'll be joining us tonight. And I also wanted to let Angelica and Olivia try the wine. But as for the recipe... sorry, Father. That secret's staying with me."
Barkus sighed deeply, puffing out his cheeks in exaggerated disappointment.
"Haaah... fine. But at least tonight I get to drink as much as I want! I should thank those two brothers — even if they did spray me with water."
Behind father and son, the rest of the family followed at a more relaxed pace — Finley, Jenna, Nyx — all worn out, but still smiling. No one was saying much anymore; everyone was simply savoring the peaceful aftermath of their spirited fun.
Nearby, walking a little apart from the main group, were Olivia and Angelica. The two girls chatted animatedly, laughing and sharing memories of the epic water battle. Their faces shone with joy — it had been an extraordinary day, one they'd surely remember for a long time.
