Modern Weapons Cheat in Fantasy World-Chapter 38: Emergency
Nine minutes later, Marcus was flying at an altitude of 3,000 feet at a cruising speed. And from the horizon, he could see now the outline of the walls of the city of Berm.
He glanced over his shoulder and saw the girls losing vitality by the seconds. They really need medical attention as soon as possible. But first, he has to land. And it is surefire that whoever witnessed him flying a helicopter would react.
He couldn’t care less about it. He just needs these girls to be brought inside the city as fast as possible.
Marcus adjusted the collective slightly, easing the helicopter lower while keeping his speed steady. The walls of Berm grew clearer by the second, the stone towers rising above the surrounding land like a fixed line on the horizon. From this height, he could already see movement along the top of the walls—guards.
They had noticed him.
Of course they did. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
A flying machine cutting across the sky wasn’t something they could ignore.
Marcus didn’t slow down yet.
His focus stayed on the controls, keeping the Black Hawk stable as he lined up his approach. He couldn’t just drop straight into the city. The streets were too narrow, too crowded. He needed an open space.
Just outside the gates would do.
Marcus angled the helicopter away from the walls and brought it down toward an open patch of ground a short distance from the main entrance. He reduced speed, kept the nose steady, and lowered the Black Hawk in a controlled descent.
The rotors kicked up dust as the landing gear touched the ground.
A solid landing.
He kept the engine running, the blades still spinning above, then released the controls and moved quickly out of the cockpit.
The guards were already reacting.
A group of them exited the gate, spears in hand, forming a loose line as they approached.
To them, this thing wasn’t just a machine—it was something unknown. From a distance, it could pass as some kind of metal beast, its spinning blades like wings.
They slowed as they got closer.
Then Marcus stepped out from the side of the helicopter.
The reaction was immediate.
They stopped.
Some of them exchanged looks. One of them lowered his spear slightly.
"...That’s..." one of the guards muttered.
Recognition spread across their faces.
They knew him.
The man who dealt with the wyverns.
Marcus didn’t waste time.
"Hey!" he called out, raising his voice over the sound of the rotors. "I need help! There are civilians inside—eight of them. They need immediate medical attention."
The lead guard stepped forward, still cautious, but his posture changed.
"Sir Marcus?" he asked, confirming.
"Yes," Marcus replied. "No time to explain. They’re in critical condition."
The guard didn’t hesitate after that.
He turned to his men.
"You heard him! Move! Get a carriage here now!" he barked. "And be careful—those people are barely holding on!"
The guards broke formation immediately.
Some rushed back toward the gates, shouting for support. Others approached the helicopter, slower this time, no longer treating it as a threat but still unsure of what they were looking at.
Marcus moved back to the side door and opened it.
The guards saw inside.
Their expressions changed again.
Shock.
Eight women, weak, barely conscious, laid across the cabin.
"...By the gods..." one of them whispered.
Marcus ignored it.
"Careful when you lift them," he said. "They don’t have strength left."
The lead guard nodded once.
"We’ll handle it."
Within moments, more men arrived, followed by a carriage pulled in quickly from inside the city.
Marcus stepped aside just enough to give them room, but he stayed close, watching how they handled each one.
And once everyone was accounted for, Marcus dematerialized the black hawk back into his inventory.
The guards paused for a second, some of them still looking at the empty space where the machine had been.
Marcus didn’t stay.
He gave the carriage one last look as the women were secured inside, their bodies supported with cloth and whatever padding the guards could gather on short notice.
"They’ll be taken straight to the hospital," the lead guard said.
Marcus nodded once.
"Good."
He didn’t ask anything else.
They were in better hands now.
That was enough.
Marcus turned and walked toward the gates.
The guards parted slightly to let him through.
Inside, the city was already reacting.
People near the entrance were gathered, whispering, trying to understand what just happened. Some looked at Marcus as he passed, recognizing him immediately. Others just stared, unsure of what they had just witnessed.
He ignored all of it.
His pace didn’t slow.
He moved straight through the streets, heading toward the adventurer’s guild.
A few minutes later, the guild building came into view.
Same as before.
Nothing changed on the outside.
Marcus pushed the door open and stepped in.
The interior quieted slightly.
Heads turned.
Some of the adventurers inside noticed him immediately.
Whispers started.
"...That’s him..."
"...He’s back..."
Marcus walked straight to the counter.
Elaina was there.
She looked up as he approached.
Her expression shifted the moment she saw him.
"...Sir Marcus," she said. "You’re back."
Marcus placed his hand on the counter.
"The goblin nest in Northwood is cleared," he said. "All of them. Shaman included."
Elaina froze for a second.
"...All of them?" she repeated. "Did you report it to Mr. Hale? He will be the one to verify it."
Marcus shook his head. "No, there was an emergency. Inside the cave there were eight women, kidnapped by the goblins. They were in a dangerous state, I had to get them here to get treated."
"Kidnapped by goblins," Elaina repeated and understood the situation. "Very well, the adventurer’s guild itself will be the one coordinating with Mr. Hale. The verification will take a day."
"I don’t mind, so long that my reward is secured," Marcus finished calmly.
Elaina gave a short nod as she began writing on the ledger, her quill moving steadily across the page. Her expression had shifted from surprise to focus, the kind she carried whenever she handled official matters.
"It will be," she said. "A case like this, especially involving civilians, takes priority."
Marcus leaned slightly against the counter, not out of fatigue, but just to ease his stance.
Behind him, the whispers continued.
Not as quiet anymore.
"Eight women..."
"...He cleared the entire nest alone..."
"...C-rank quest..."
Marcus ignored all of it.
Elaina flipped a page and pressed the guild seal onto the entry.
"Your report has been logged," she said. "Once verification is complete, the reward will be released immediately."
Marcus nodded once.
"That’s fine."
"Is there anything else I can do for you, Mr. Marcus?"
"Yeah, the dinner."
