Chapter 634: Chapter 634: He Can’t Be Without Her (Xiang Yue)

Her eyes were glistening with tears as she asked him, "Seeing me like this, are you satisfied?"

Every word from Serena Sterling was like a sharp dagger, heavily and fiercely piercing Malcom Moore’s heart, leaving it riddled with holes, causing him such pain he couldn’t breathe.

How could he let her go back to that life filled with unbearable pain, allow old lovers to conspire against her, or let her lose everything!

He just wanted to love her, cherish her, and give her a life of happiness and bliss!

But she didn’t need any of it, she only wanted to stay away from him!

The hurt she endured was all brought to her by him.

Her parents’ death was inextricably linked to him.

Through the pain that took two lives, Malcom didn’t know how he could soothe her.

He hurt too, hurt just like she did!

He wanted to heal together with her, but she didn’t need him.

Without him, she pulled herself out of her suffering.

She was filled with pride and confidence, her sun-like smile returned to her face.

How could he bear it, how could he bear seeing her smile disappear again, how could he let her fall into a hell and suffer with him?

But he couldn’t just let her go!

Malcom was in deep pain.

He gulped down one bitter drink after another, drowning his heart that desperately wanted to find Serena Sterling.

In the end, he got so drunk that he fell and collapsed on the balcony floor...

In the following days, Malcom stayed in the hotel without going out.

Not that he didn’t want to go out.

The only place he wanted to go was where Serena Sterling was.

But she didn’t want him to pester her, she wanted him to let her go.

He didn’t dare to see her.

He was afraid of seeing her indifferent and ruthless appearance, afraid of the tears streaming down her cheeks, and even more afraid that he would uncontrollably, contrary to her wishes, forcefully hold her by his side.

He didn’t know what to do.

He couldn’t let go of this woman, yet couldn’t drag her into hell!

Day after day, he stayed in the hotel, drunk and awake, awake and drunk.

During this time, Stephen Foster came looking for Malcom Moore a few times.

But each time, he either couldn’t see Malcom, or Malcom would directly chase him away, or he’d be entangled in Malcom’s beard-stubbled, alcohol-scented demands for Luna.

A few days later, troubles arose on the River City side, and Stephen could no longer hold back.

He booked a plane ticket on his own, preparing to persuade Malcom Moore to go back.

Stephen took the opportunity of Malcom waking from his drunken state, as the hotel staff delivered the ordered alcohol, to enter Malcom’s room.

As soon as he entered, Stephen began to advise, "President, we’ve been in Milan too long already. There’s trouble in River City, and they urgently need you back to handle it."

Malcom reclined on the living room sofa, seemingly not hearing Stephen’s words.

Stephen probed, "President, I’ve already booked the plane tickets; shall we return to River City this afternoon?"

Malcom still remained silent.

Return to River City, how could he bear it?

With Luna still here, without bringing Luna back, could he leave?

Without hearing from Malcom, Stephen anxiously spoke again, "President, River City is really in disarray now. The planned arrangements keep getting postponed... The shareholders are restless."

Saying so, Stephen urged again, "President, are we going back or not, say something!"

Malcom looked at Stephen and finally replied, "Cancel the plane tickets and wait for another two days."

But this wasn’t the answer Stephen wanted.

Stephen looked at Malcom, hoping to persuade him further.

But before he could say anything, Malcom’s cold, unwavering gaze swept over, and his icy voice commanded, "Do as I say!"

After speaking, Malcom coldly added, "Now, you may leave."

Stephen was helpless and had no choice but to leave.

As Stephen left, the hotel staff just happened to bring over the alcohol Malcom had ordered.

Watching the assorted fine wines on the cart, Stephen resisted the impulse to smash them: the company urgently needed the president back to take charge, yet the president remained obliviously indulging himself here!

But Stephen could only entertain the idea; he didn’t actually have the courage to destroy the alcohol, unless he didn’t want to live anymore.

In the hotel room, Stephen left, and the hotel staff also exited.

Looking at the cart of wines, Malcom did not immediately open them as he usually did, to drink himself into a stupor.

He just stared at them, and after a long while, he rose from the sofa.

After getting up, Malcom first went to take a shower.

Then, he shaved off the blue stubble that had grown unchecked all over his face in those few days.

Emerging from the bathroom, he went to the bedroom and changed into a handcrafted white T-shirt and a custom-made navy blue suit.

After completing all this, Malcom took out his phone and dialed a number.

When the call connected, Charles Moore’s angry voice roared, "You brat, what the devil are you up to? Didn’t you go to Milan for negotiation on the new season’s fashion design copyrights? How come you vanished once you got there? Do you know the shareholders have been coming to me, creating a fuss?"

Malcom held the phone, speaking in a low voice, "Dad, I saw Luna here."

The other end was silent briefly before Charles’s deep voice responded, "You saw the Sterling girl? How is she doing now?"

Malcom didn’t speak.

He didn’t know how to say the words that without him, she’s doing well.

Without hearing from Malcom, Charles sighed a long sigh, "Ah..."

In the half-year since Serena Sterling left, Charles saw Malcom’s way of life crystal clear.

He knew Malcom had fallen for the Sterling girl, loved her deeply.

If Grace Quarters’ departure six years ago made Malcom despondent for a period and feel he lost something significant, then Serena Sterling’s leaving could potentially leave Malcom cold for life, with an empty heart for a lifetime.

From a selfish standpoint, Charles hoped the Sterling girl could return to Malcom, warming his cold world and filling his hollow heart.

But their Morris family had wronged the girl.

Because of their Morris family, the girl lost her parents.

So he couldn’t be that selfish.

Charles held the phone, unwilling to speak yet having to speak, "Malcom, our Morris family wronged that girl. Don’t make things difficult for her; let her do what she wants."

Malcom’s mischievously charming eyes carried a deep pain as he tightly gripped the phone, his voice slightly hoarse, "Dad, I can’t live without her."

"Ah!..." After another long sigh, Charles finally stood by his son’s side, "You don’t need to worry about River City; even if Morris Group falls, so what? Besides, I am here, nothing will happen. You can stay there without worry, pursue the Sterling girl."
