Monsters Are Coming-Chapter 1011 - 277: Adventuring Craze, Swords Pointed at Giant Beasts
Hong Yang and the others took out potions from their space bags and drank them in large gulps.
The district chat channel was summoned, and it was quite lively inside:
"Take my advice, don't choose the Delirium Theater Dungeon, it's full of mechanic monsters. Some monsters must be killed by following the mechanics; by the end of the first act, you're exhausted. This broken dungeon will definitely not be chosen next time."
"The Skeleton Throne Dungeon is not bad. We've pushed to the boss scene of the second act without encountering any mechanic monsters, just a complete smooth farming all the way."
"Newbie here with a good drop, asking the big shots how much sacrificial power this thing is worth? (screenshot.jpg)"
"What puzzles me is why killing monsters in the dungeon doesn't yield hunting rewards, only random refresh rewards?"
"Regarding the question above, I asked Guidance. Guidance explained that the monsters in the space scene are all generated by the Blue Lantern Clan using the power of the Divine Lamp Rule. Essentially, when killed, it's just withdrawing this part of the power according to space rules settings—it doesn't count as a kill; it's all scripted, there's no real monster. Although some spaces use real memories of living creatures destroyed by the Divine Lamp Clan, they are just extracted memories."
...
Looking through the district channel discussions, Hong Yang nodded in realization.
He had similar doubts just now.
Why is it that when monsters in the dungeon are killed, there's no feedback, only a chance for items to drop? 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
It turns out this doesn't really count as a genuine kill.
It's all settings within the scripted space scenes.
After a break, Hong Yang began to tally the loot from this battle.
500 Skeleton Warriors dropped 12 Divine Coins, three level-2 Spirit Plants, and two pieces of Iron Armor—the haul was pretty good.
Rest over, the squad continued deeper along the Spine Road, and walls built from piled bones on both sides of the street began to exhibit twisted relief sculptures.
Faintly discernible was the scene of countless Bone Clan citizens kneeling in prayer.
Each painting on the murals recorded a chapter of Bone Clan's history.
Ah Qi, being very interested in the background story, began asking Guidance what certain puzzling content on the murals meant.
The story of Bone Clan surfaced in the Q&A.
In fact, the Blue Lantern Clan doesn't exist in Bone Clan's background story.
In Guidance's narration, Bone Clan beings also aren't completely skeletal but a type of undead life.
They were born in a grand tomb, created by a being who mastered undead magic as special living entities.
With pale skin, gray eyes, they possess the talent ability to control the power of death.
Their purpose is to act as cannon fodder under the control of the undead mage.
During the long ages of war, the first Bone Clan king awakened self-will amidst slaughter and devouring, initiating a war of resistance against the undead mage.
This war was won by the first king, leading to the birth of Bone Clan.
Afterward, this king's achievements even surpassed the undead mage.
He delved into the knowledge and data left by the undead mage, comprehended undead magic, and ultimately completed what the undead mage pursued all his life but couldn't achieve, which was to transform the rule territory of the undead-producing "Great Tomb" into a rule item: March of the Dead.
After this, the first leader led Bone Clan to embark on external world conquests, and the fresco includes such a scene, where the first leader raises the rule of March of the Dead like a flag, overlooking millions of citizens and making a vow.
This phrase was inscribed on the relief:
"All who die in battle can be reforged as Bone Clan citizens."
The emergence of March of the Dead completely transformed Bone Clan's civilization.
As the conquests continued, Bone Clan gradually divided into two major groups.
Mainly divided into those alive and resuscitators.
The living refers to those naturally born from the Great Tomb, the native Bone Clan, who have pale skin, silver-blue blood, pupils that are gray with shattered markings, retaining the purest undead control talent.
Resuscitators refer to living beings resurrected through March of the Dead after dying in battle.
These are further subdivided into two parts.
One part is Bone Clan's predecessors, ancestors, and even the new generation can meet the first ancestors.
The other part exists as slaves, composed of skeleton slaves resurrected from other race beings, unable to break free from the control of March of the Dead, and will eternally wage wars for Bone Clan against external worlds.
Powered by the formidable strength granted by March of the Dead, Bone Clan's group size grew increasingly vast.
Yet, the expansion wasn't always smooth, having encountered several extinction crises, and the first Bone Clan king died in war.
In the dungeon's background story, the Skeleton King City presented is the city established by the eighth Bone Clan king, the core city of Bone Clan civilization.
The whole city was forged from Dragon Beast remains and the bones of millions of races.
The mural depicts the Royal City at its most glorious peak, with white peaks piercing the clouds, the Spine Hall floating in the sky, and millions of Bone Clan mages relentlessly using the power of death to sustain the eternal barrier of the Skeleton Throne. A river of blood branched flows through the city, the riverbed curiously overlaying the extractable True Bone Blood needed to produce Nether Pill, the origin of life maintaining Bone Clan existence.
In the city center, eight burial altars operate ceaselessly day and night, nurturing Bone Clan life every minute and second, with blue soul fires dyeing the night sky into aurora.
Following murals depicted mainly the late period of Bone Clan.
At that time, this Royal City had two rulers, namely the Bone Emperor and the Emperor of Skeletons, twin monarchs birthed by the same mother, jointly holding the highest authority in Skeleton King City.
It was precisely under the collaborative efforts of these two kings that Bone Clan established a superpower spanning across five worlds.
