Chapter 68 - SCREEECH!: A City In Chaos

"Shit! It's a tier-6 Windraptor! Damn it, duck!"

With a belated roar, Titus lunged in the air, his hands covered in a golden hue. Under the eyes of the shocked group, a simple swing from his massive fist crushed the Windraptor's crystalline beak into shards, hurling them straight through its head, pulverizing it to bits.

Watching the headless body fall from the sky, Simon could not help but whisper to Lewis, "Hey, you think we've been looking down on him too much lately..."

Silent, Lewis nodded, agreeing with the Dwarf for the first time in days. He felt fear when the Orc easily crushed the beats from the air, not to mention jumping in the air like Michael Jordan.

What the fuck on Earth did Titus go through...!?

Though still reeling in from the sudden attack, the group trepidatiously walked through the gate, only briefly stopping to lay the fallen guard to rest. May your soul find peace with Nyxis...

Erecting a pseudo-gravestone, Simon quickly ran back, eager to help with the siege in the city...

Walking down the street, Kurons's ear twitched, leaning towards where the clattering sound came from. He quickly hid himself beside the bin in the alleyway, hiding from his adversaries.

From the streets, clacking noises were heard, as the creature ground its teeth...

A lone Skeleboy warrior shambled down the street, dragging its sword on the ground, too heavy for it to wield properly. Its skull constantly twitched, carefully listening for any creature that dared wander its way.

A soft clink was heard to its left...

Without a single moment of hesitation, the Skeleboy warrior swung its sword with unfounded grace, cleaving the pavement. Its head twitched, wondering why none of the sweet, warm blood flowed out.

Turns out it was just a rusty old can...

Before it could register, a spiky mace landed in its skull, crushing it into Bone meal. The headless body tumbled briefly, before collapsing into a pile of bones, finally acknowledging that it was dead. Wheezing with fatigue, Kurons laid the mace on the ground, propping his tired body.

Thank Illumia for the fact that it was merely a tier-1 Skeleboy warrior. If it was any higher, I'd be Wulfin Kebob by now...

Just then, more clacking sounds were heard behind him. His eyes shrunk, unwilling to believe it. He closed his eyes, slowly turning behind him, hoping, praying, that it was all his dream.

The cruel reality showed otherwise

A horde of Skeleboys, each wielding a plethora of weapons, surrounded Kurons. Knowing his inevitable fate, he refused to surrender though. If I'm going down, I'll go down with a fuxking fight!

"IN THE NAME OF GIGASON, I CAST YOU DOW–"

BAM!!!

From above the skies, a small vial landed, before exploding in a blinding flash of light. Hymns erupted from the centre, vaporising the Skeleboys into ashes. Kurons, blinded, could not help but pray to Illumia, thanking Her for sending her Angels to help him...

"Hey, I think that young man downstairs has a screw loose..."

Commenting on Kurons's blindness (literally and figuratively), Simon crouched behind one of the chimneys up high, busy smashing the wretched Devimps, hurling shir from the sky. "Damn that uncle of mine..."

As they entered the city, they witnessed scenes that could only be described as horror made manifest:

Urks hunted down younglings for sport, tearing them to pieces once caught, chewing them down their gullets...

Gogols swarmed over unarmed women, raping them, using them as outlets to satisfy their carnal desires...

Minotaurs stomped their way through the city, crushing everything in their path creatures and all...

Devimps hurled cursed shit from the air, poisoning everything and anything in their path...

Most damning of all were the Wabbit armies, swarming over everything. With each new debris, they gained more and more power, using it to bolster their armed forces, each wielding more and more horrific weapons.

Unable to tear their eyes away, they could only watch in horror as the city began being overrun by monsters. Just then, a very bloodied Dwarf, wielding a Bronziclon battle axe, charged straight out of an Urk mosh, chunks of flesh missing from his body.

"Boy, *pant*, *pant*, *pant*... I, no, the city needs help. We don't know why, but SCREEECH! Suddenly erupted here. Mithtador is being overrun by those damn furballs, not to mention the litany of other abominations they have procured for this SCREEECH! Please, for the love of Illumia, help us..."

Near the end, the Dwarf, revealed to be a very wounded and bloody Durmast, fainted in front of Simon, his hands still gripping his battle axe. Gazing up once more, Simon was confronted with the sight of the burning city and the pillaging horde. Taking a deep breath, he made his decision:

"Guys, let's fuck 'em up!"

Beneath the city, deep underground, a small mechanical sphere is seen spinning very fast, its purpose is unknown, it's only job being to spin.

And spin...

And spin...

And spin...

That was until it felt their call...

Stopping abruptly, it lay motionless until the centre opened itself, revealing a bright blue crystal. Shining brightly, it illuminated its surroundings, revealing an ancient army clad in armour unknown. Silent in eternal sleep they rested, until a flash of bright blie light illuminated the chamber.

Then, their eyes shone.
