Chapter 806: Chapter 806: I Don’t Know

After several days of rest, Lan Shan’s foot has improved a lot. Although she still limps a little when she walks, she no longer needs someone to support her. Just as Tiangong Shaoyu had said, he wouldn’t be around the manor often. In fact, she only saw him once on the third day after moving in, and hadn’t seen him in the past few days.

This afternoon, Lan Shan was sitting on the couch in the living room, playing on her phone, when she heard some noise at the door. She looked over and saw someone she hadn’t seen in a few days returning, looking worn out.

Gong Shaoyu sat down next to the couch, looked at her right foot, and spoke, "Feeling any better?"

"Yeah, a lot better. Brother Gong, what have you been up to these past few days?" She was just casually asking, not expecting him to answer, but unexpectedly, right after she spoke, Gong Shaoyu replied, "I was on a business trip, just got back."

"Oh... Then you probably haven’t eaten yet?" She initially thought about offering to cook something for him, but recalling her own culinary skills, she hesitated.

Rolling her eyes a little, she changed her approach, "Brother Gong, the food the chefs make is really delicious. Can I ask them to teach me?"

She’s not good at cooking herself, but with the chefs around, hopefully, no accidents would happen, right?

Gong Shaoyu hesitated for a moment, looked at her foot, then raised his head. When he met her gaze, he nodded instinctively.

Getting his approval, Lan Shan smiled, put down her phone, stood up, and carefully walked toward the kitchen.

Watching her silhouette gradually disappear, Gong Shaoyu finally withdrew his gaze, picked up the tea brought by the servant, took a sip, and sank into the couch, closing his eyes.

...

Half an hour later.

Feeling somewhat tired, he leaned on the couch, dozing off when suddenly, there was a loud "bang," followed by a sharp scream. Perhaps because it was too abrupt in the quiet environment, Gong Shaoyu’s eyes snapped open. Glancing at the ceiling, without a second thought, his body reacted, quickly rising and heading toward the kitchen.

There were a few servants standing at the door. Through the glass, he saw chaos inside. Accelerating his pace, he arrived at the door and coldly said to the servants, "Move aside."

The servants were startled, not expecting him to suddenly come over. Hurriedly, they made way for him. Gong Shaoyu stepped inside and immediately saw Lan Shan sitting on the floor, clutching her arm, surrounded by a few chefs looking worried.

Taking a few steps forward, he pulled one of the chefs aside, crouched beside Lan Shan, and glanced at the arm she was holding. His presence was intimidatingly cold, yet his voice was gentle, "What happened?"

Lan Shan appeared frightened, turned her head, and looked at him with a blank expression. "I-I don’t know."

Seeing her at a loss, bewildered and dazed, the anger that initially built up in his chest inexplicably vanished. Noticing she still hadn’t come to her senses, he reached out, held her in his arms, and walked out of the kitchen.

Upon returning to the living room, he set her on the couch, prepared to move her hand from her arm. He noticed the redness on her arm, as if something had struck her. Frowning slightly, he asked, "How did this happen?"

Lan Shan looked puzzled, blinked, and repeated what she said earlier, "I don’t know."

"Hmm?" Gong Shaoyu tilted his head, meeting her eyes. Seeing her genuinely confused, he reluctantly believed her.
