Chapter 830: Chapter 830: Strangely Cute

"N-No problem..." She gave a strained excuse, grabbed a throw pillow, and returned to her previous spot to sit down. She picked up her phone, unlocked the screen, and opened a webpage, typing in "What is a good gift for a full moon celebration?"

Soon, the screen displayed a myriad of answers: some suggested a Peace Lock, some baby clothes, some bracelets... and the most bizarre suggestions were diapers and even a wife.

After reading just a few responses, Lan Shan was already exasperated. She picked a few suggestions she deemed useful, stood up, ran to her room to fetch a pen and notebook, then returned to the living room, sat directly on the floor, bit off the pen cap with her mouth, opened the notebook, and began recording.

Gong Shaoyu watched her running back and forth, sweat beading on her forehead, yet she still looked very excited, as if she were preparing things for her own child, with such earnestness.

He glanced at the handwriting in her notebook; the elegant script flowed smoothly and was quite pleasing to the eye.

It seemed like she really liked children; even though they belonged to others, she was still excited about finding the perfect gift.

The living room was silent, intermittently filled with the sound of the pen scraping on paper, and, other than that, the sound of him typing on the keyboard.

After a long while, the writing stopped. He glanced over at Lan Shan only to see that what was once a clean sheet of paper was now filled with densely packed writing.

There was also a long mark on the left side of her face, not sure when she accidentally got it.

She seemed oblivious to it, her head bowed, quietly looking at the notes, her long, curled eyelashes fluttering occasionally, adding to her charm.

Why hadn’t he noticed before how engrossed and charming Lan Shan looked when she was focused?

Especially that mark on her face; why did he find it inexplicably cute?

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but smile and stopped typing, letting out a soft chuckle.

Her train of thought was interrupted by his chuckle. She turned around with a puzzled look, slightly furrowing her brows, and asked, "Brother Gong, what are you laughing at?"

"Nothing..." He straightened his posture, suppressed his emotions, cleared his throat twice, and shifted his gaze away from her. When he looked back, he found her still staring at him in confusion, so he added, "There’s something on your face, go wash it off."

Upon hearing this, Lan Shan, bewildered, picked up her phone, which had turned black, used it as a mirror to look at her face, and upon seeing the mark, she immediately tossed the pen onto the coffee table, put down her phone, stood up, and dashed to the bathroom.

In her haste, she didn’t pay attention to her feet and accidentally bumped into the corner of the table, almost crying from the pain. But she gritted her teeth, refused to make a sound, bent down to rub her bruised knee, and hopped towards the bathroom.

Gong Shaoyu intended to go over and help her, but just as he put his computer down and realized what he was about to do, he froze, stunned...

What was happening to him? Why did he suddenly feel an urge to rush over and care for her when she got hurt, and, inexplicably, feel a pang of heartache when she hit herself?

While he was lost in thought, Lan Shan had already disappeared from view. He had no choice but to halt his movements and sit back down in his chair.
