Chapter 269: Chapter 269: A Stolen Kiss

Stephanie’s body trembled, and the bodyguards quickly blocked Camille’s path to stop her from touching Stephanie.

Camille clenched her teeth and forced a smile. "Let’s go eat something yummy, okay? Don’t be mad at me."

"Auntie, I’m not mad at you," Stephanie said softly.

"Hey, I’m still young. Don’t call me auntie."

"But you look older than my mom. My teacher said we should call older women ’auntie,’" Stephanie replied honestly.

Camille was furious, but she held her anger and said, "Okay, call me whatever you want."

In the kitchen, she put on gloves and took the egg tarts out of the oven. She noticed Stephanie watching her with a mischievous look, then slowly reaching toward the oven.

Camille saw what she was trying to do and quickly pressed her own hands against the oven before Stephanie could get closer.

"Steph, why did you push me into the oven?" she cried out. ƒгeewebnovёl_com

Hmph. I can pretend to be the victim too.

"Auntie, you’re far from me and too heavy. How could I possibly push you?"

"You were standing behind me and shoved me toward the oven. How else would my hands get burned?"

Stephanie let out a sigh. "Believe what you want."

Camille turned to the bodyguards. "Did you see that? She pushed me!"

But the bodyguards were near the door. Camille’s back blocked their view, so they didn’t see anything.

Stephanie looked annoyed but squatted down and suppressed her thoughts.

The bodyguards felt sorry for her. They walked over and gently led her away.

Camille had a plan. She wanted to expose Stephanie and make everyone believe she was a bad child.

When Stephanie was unwrapping her toy, she almost cut her hand. Camille saw this and took the chance to cut the back of her own hand on purpose. Then she showed it to everyone and said Stephanie did it.

Stephanie didn’t say a word. It was as if she was admitting guilt.

Later, Stephanie went outside to catch butterflies. She nearly lost her balance. But before she could fall, Camille threw herself in front of her.

Sadly, she landed in a patch of prickly grass. Her face ended up scratched and looked awful.

"Why are you pushing me again, Steph?" Camille cried out. Her face stung and itched badly.

But Stephanie just shut her mouth and kept her head down.

Now it was Stephanie’s turn to cause trouble. She waited until the bodyguards weren’t paying attention and secretly set Camille’s hair on fire.

Camille screamed and ran out as her hair was burning.

Williams quickly called for water and dumped a whole bucket over her head.

Camille’s freshly changed clothes were soaked again. The water also washed off the medicine that had been applied to her hand and face.

"She’s evil! This child is pure evil! Get her out of here now!" Camille shouted as she covered her hair and rushed back to the villa.

"She kept blaming me. I didn’t do anything," Stephanie finally said. Her eyes were filled with tears as she looked at the maids.

Everyone could see that Stephanie was always trying to stay away from Camille. It was Camille who kept picking on her.

People already knew Camille had a bad temper. While Rowan wasn’t around, she had even hit a few maids. So, they believed Stephanie than her.

"Go to your room, little girl," Williams said gently. He never thought Camille would change this much after returning from Easthan. He was worried she might hurt Stephanie again, so he asked the child to go to her bedroom.

Inside the bedroom, Stephanie took Camille’s phone from her bag. She quickly unlocked it and found all the Nelsen family’s contact numbers.

She copied everything, then tossed the phone out the window into the flowerbed.

Later, Camille yelled at the maids to go find her phone.

While they were busy, Stephanie slipped into Camille’s room and hid a tiny camera near the bed.

At GG Boutique, Daniel sat across from Chantelle with a cold expression. She was too focused on sewing a gown to notice the angry look he gave her.

"I’ve been sitting here for an hour," Daniel finally said as he can no longer stay silent.

Chantelle looked up and gave him a quick glance.

"Why are you so free today?" she asked, then went back to her sewing.

"Chantelle, you still haven’t told me who Steph’s godfather is."

"I can’t tell you unless Steph agrees," Chantelle replied with a sigh.

Suddenly, Daniel grabbed the gown from her hands, pulled her to her feet, and hugged her tightly.

"Steph said if she can’t stay at Rowan’s place, her godfather will come and take all of you to Carcosa."

"Steph’s just a little girl. Don’t be mad at her," Chantelle tried to coax him as she patted Daniel’s back.

"Don’t leave me, Chantelle," Daniel said as he hugged her even tighter without planning to let her go.

Chantelle found it hard to breathe. "Let me go, Daniel."

He finally loosened his grip but leaned in and kissed her. Breathing in her scent, he felt it was the only way to remind himself she was his wife.

They were so caught up in the kiss that Chantelle’s face turned red.

Just then, they heard the voices of customers coming from outside.

"No, stop..." Chantelle pushed Daniel hard several times. But he was too strong, and it didn’t work. In the end, she bit his lip, and only then did he finally let her go.

"That’s what you get for misbehaving," Chantelle said, eyeing the bit of fresh blood on his lip.

"My wife is too sexy. You’ve taken over my heart, and I just can’t help it," Daniel said, licking the blood from his lip. Then, he leaned down and kissed Chantelle again.

That gentle kiss was the only thing that could calm him down.

"Chantie, a customer is asking for Mr. Marco. Are you free?" Thea called from the door.

"I’ll be right there," Chantelle said as she fixed her clothes.

Daniel leaned against the corner of the table, looking at her like she was a tempting dessert.

"You should go back to work before the Wilson Group Of Companies shuts down," Chantelle said as she pushed him toward the door.

At the doorway, they ran into Thea, who gave them a meaningful look.

Chantelle’s face turned even redder.

"Hi, Mr. Wilson. You’re here too," said Ms. Tammy, a customer and the wife of a real estate company director. Her eyes lit up when she saw Daniel.

"I’m here for my wife," Daniel replied with a small nod.
