Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Trenton’s Gift

Chantelle turned on the surveillance footage and watched as the kids toyed with the intruders after Stephanie had let them in on purpose. She actually started to feel a little bad for the men.

"Didn’t I tell you before how dangerous this kind of thing is?"

It wasn’t the first time Stephanie and Kane had done something like this. Even though they always managed to handle the bad guys, Chantelle still couldn’t let it slide.

"Mommy, we won’t take it too far. It’s obvious those men were sent by Trenton..."

Stephanie suddenly remembered the first man who tried to sneak in. Trenton used to give them gifts before.

"There will be no next time. If you do this again, I won’t bring you back to Easthan anymore." Chantelle’s tone turned serious, and Stephanie and Kane quickly nodded in response.

"Then what should we do with him?" Kane asked, pointing at a man tied up on the floor.

The man was itching all over. He wasn’t badly hurt, but being tied up like that was uncomfortable and frustrating.

He couldn’t help but grumble to himself, I’m a killer too, you know. And you’re just ignoring me like I’m nothing?

"Did Trenton send you to deliver a message?" Chantelle asked. She had already seen the footage. This man had a chance to escape but didn’t take it. That meant he came with a reason. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

The man quickly put on a flattering smile. "We can never hide anything from you, Ms. Chantelle. Trenton heard that Mr. Quinn has woken up, and he sent me to congratulate you. This is his gift."

He handed her a box. When Chantelle opened it, she saw a man’s watch inside. It was the same model Xander used to wear before the accident.

Trenton wasn’t even trying to hide his threat.

"What does he want?" Chantelle’s face darkened as anger started to rise.

The man, still smiling, didn’t notice the shift in her tone. "Trenton said it’s rare for you and the kids to be back in Carcosa, so you should enjoy your time with them. As for Mr. Quinn, we’ll take care of him for you."

"Why are you keeping him locked up?" Chantelle asked, confused.

"You already know why. Trenton doesn’t like you getting close to any man."

"So what if he doesn’t? Does he think he rules over everything?" Chantelle had come back to Carcosa just to visit Xander. She wasn’t about to back off just because Trenton didn’t like it.

"Come on, don’t be so upset. Trenton’s just looking out for you. He doesn’t want anything bad to happen to Mr. Quinn. Imagine how sad the kids would be if they lost their godfather."

This man was using Xander to threaten her! Chantelle’s anger kept growing.

"I want to see him."

"I’m afraid I can’t let that happen. When Trenton wants to see you, he’ll let you know. But you should really think about who you’re spending time with, and who you should stay away from."

Chantelle held back her anger. Trenton was clearly blaming her for what happened to Xander. And now, he was warning her that if she kept seeing Xander or Daniel, the same thing might happen to Daniel too.

"Ms. Chantelle, that’s all I have to say. I’ll be leaving now," the man said as he untied himself and stood up.

Chantelle gave Kane a look, and Kane’s Little Bee flew toward the man. But he was quick and caught it right away.

"You can’t destroy my Little Bee!" Kane shouted.

The man let it go. "Don’t be too naughty, Kane."

But the next second, his face went stiff. A needle was sticking out of his neck. He dropped to the floor, weak and dazed.

"What a good shot," Stephanie said, running her hand over her bow.

Chantelle grabbed the man and dragged him to the backyard. Then she turned to Kane. "Call all your friends here."

Kane rushed to the secret base, pulling Railer with him. A few minutes later, six robots marched toward the backyard.

"Attack!" Kane shouted like a true commander.

The six robots moved together and surrounded the man.

Not long after, his cries of pain filled the air.

Chantelle pressed a rag over the man’s mouth. She tried everything she could to get him to talk, but he was too loyal to Trenton. No matter what she did, he didn’t say a word.

With nothing else to do, she dragged him out of the villa and left him there, hoping someone would come for him.

Around 2 a.m., the alarm went off. The surveillance showed someone had come to take the man. Chantelle ran after them, but she couldn’t keep up.

"Chantelle, you’re always so disobedient."

The voice on the phone was raspy and familiar. Fear shot through her, making her feel sick.

"Disobedience comes with a price."

His laugh sent a chill down her spine. It used to haunt her, and now it was back. Her hand shook as she held the phone, but before she could say anything, the call ended.

Chantelle panicked and quickly called her children, telling them to hide in their secret base.

Then she tried calling Daniel, but he didn’t pick up. Fear gripped her.

She called him three times in a row. Finally, he answered, sounding amused.

"What is it?" he asked as his voice lifted slightly at the end like it always did.

That familiar tone told her everything was fine. She let out a sigh of relief.

"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Daniel’s tone turned serious. He could sense something was wrong.

"Where are you?" Chantelle asked as she drove.

She hadn’t noticed it earlier while chasing someone, but now she realized she was in the middle of nowhere. Even without Trenton’s people around, being alone at night wasn’t safe.

"Are you scared I’ll show up and mess up your plan?" Daniel’s anger was flaring as he thought about the photo Lone Wolf had sent.

Chantelle didn’t catch the anger in his voice. She simply said, "Wherever you are, please call your bodyguards and stay safe, okay?"

"Got it. You care about me," Daniel said with a chuckle.

Chantelle frowned at his carefree tone. She was about to remind him how serious things were when an SUV suddenly shot out from the intersection ahead, nearly crashing into her.

She quickly swerved, and her car veered off the road into a ditch. The two right tires sank deep, and the car was stuck.

"Chantelle!" Daniel shouted through the phone after hearing the loud crash. But the call had already been cut off.

"Miss, are you okay?" a strong foreign man jumped out of the SUV and banged hard on her window.
