Chapter 1004: Chapter 1000: Is That Girl Your Friend?

On the second day of Sophie Foster’s surgery, Nicholas Croft received a call from Henry Hargrave inviting him over to discuss the investment in the film production that had previously been interrupted.

Nicholas felt guilty about Hannah Hargrave’s incident. It was supposed to be a meeting about collaboration, yet his little incident caused the delay in the joint venture.

Nicholas was quite optimistic about the script; being a businessman, he wouldn’t miss a profitable opportunity. He agreed over the phone and went to the Hargrave Family’s house after having dinner with Sophie Foster.

Upon arriving at the Hargrave Family’s residence, Henry Hargrave and his daughter Hannah were already waiting in the living room. Seeing Nicholas enter, Hannah enthusiastically stood up to welcome him.

She gently supported Nicholas’s arm as they walked towards the sofa together. "Nicholas, come in and have a seat."

"Miss Hargrave, you’re too polite," Nicholas responded courteously, with a slight smile, as Hannah led him to sit on the sofa. She sat beside him with a small distance between them, jokingly saying, "Nicholas, we’ve interacted many times. Please, don’t call me that—it sounds rather awkward. Just call me by my name from now on."

"That’s not appropriate," Nicholas continued his courteous smile, as Henry chimed in from the side, "Just call her Hannah. That’s what we all call her at home."

Nicholas smiled again and didn’t delve into the matter further; instead, he went straight to discussing business.

"Old Mr. Hargrave, have you read the script?"

"Yes, I’ve read it," Henry leaned back in his single sofa, hands resting on the armrests with an air of authority. After saying this, he deliberately sighed, "Ah, seems like it’s an example of good things coming to those who wait. Hannah even got injured over this script."

Nicholas slightly bowed his head, aware that Henry was trying to leverage personal favors. It seemed this collaboration would definitely be used to pressure his company.

Henry suddenly turned, leaning forward slightly to look at Nicholas and asked, "Nicholas, was that girl... your friend?"

Being reminded of that incident by Henry again, Nicholas inevitably felt suspicion. If he admitted to being with Sophie, Henry might use this against him. However, if he denied it...

They didn’t know his little incident. The matter had passed for so long, Henry Hargrave might want to pursue it again, but the police might not find his little incident.

With that thought, Nicholas casually replied, "I don’t know her. That time I was just doing a favor,"

"I see..." Henry leaned back again, murmuring to himself with slightly furrowed brows as if pondering something.

Bringing up her inexplicable injury made Hannah furious. She said unhappily, "Dad, Nicholas is here for the collaboration discussion, why bring up that wild girl again!"

"Right, right, not to mention, to the collaboration." Henry turned towards them again, showing evident favor for his daughter.

The three of them began discussing the script’s characters along with other key points of casting for the lead roles. Josephine Hawthorne emerged from the kitchen wearing a large green flowered Tang-style blouse paired with black wide-leg trousers, and she brought out a neatly arranged fruit platter with a smile, saying, "Nicholas, have some fruit first. Dinner will be ready soon."

"Thank you, Madam," Nicholas nodded politely, as Hannah picked up a forked piece of watermelon and offered it to Nicholas, "Have a bit, you must be thirsty after talking so long."
