Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1015 - 1011: Bar Troubles
In the entertainment circle, media rumors and fabricated matchmaking are commonplace, just gossip to entertain the masses. No one would clarify voluntarily, especially when such news serves as free publicity for collaborative projects.
However, Nicholas Croft didn’t expect Sophie Foster to be consistently bothered by these rumors. Although he always explained they were just concocted by the media, his occasional coming and going from the set with Hannah Hargrave was an unavoidable fact.
Nicholas went on a business trip to attend some charity gala. Sitting on the couch watching the live broadcast on TV, whether it’s the organizer’s arrangement or the intent of the camera, every time Nicholas’s frame appeared, Hannah’s face would follow. Even though Nicholas explained there was nothing between him and Hannah, Sophie couldn’t shake off the feeling of congestion in her heart.
She turned off the television, got up, went to her room, and changed into a denim skirt, slinging a shoulder bag to go to a nightclub for some leisure.
In a bad mood, Sophie sat alone at the bar drinking beer. Ever since her surgery, she had quit her job as a resident singer; this was the first time she came to this nightclub to relax.
The bartender and she exchanged a few greetings before he returned to his work. Leaning on the bar, Sophie remained melancholic, until a man came over to make conversation, "Hey pretty lady, waiting for a friend? Care to have a drink together?"
Sophie shot the man an unfriendly glance, "If you know I’m waiting for someone, why try to hit on me?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The man was rendered speechless by the retort, sneered at Sophie briefly, and left awkwardly.
On stage, a female resident singer was singing, when a drunken man staggered to the front of the stage, pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket, and waved it, letting the red bills flutter and fall on the stage and at his feet.
"Stop singing, come drink with me..."
As a bar’s resident singer, she was used to drunken men causing trouble. She glanced at the man and continued singing, while two waitstaff came over, one helping to gather the money scattered on the floor, and another politely saying, "Sir, please go back to your seat and wait..."
"Get lost, I want her to drink with me!" The man forcefully shoved away the staff assisting him, his excessive force causing his obese body to stumble and nearly fall, only to be quickly supported by the staff.
"Sir, if you continue to cause trouble, the manager will call the police," the staff advised him politely, "Please return to your booth to wait, Siwen will come over after she finishes singing..."
"I’m not leaving, take me there, I’ll wait there..." The man pointed towards the bar, staggering as he walked over. Another waiter had just gathered the money, handed it back to the man, and together they assisted the drunken man onto a high chair at the bar, then returned to their duties.
The man settled on the high chair, slapped the money handed over by the staff on the bar, and yelled, "Bring me the booze!" Sophie sat two chairs away from the man, holding her forehead with one hand, turned away from his direction. Suddenly, the man’s shout startled her, and she instinctively turned to look.
"Eh? It’s you..." Seeing Sophie’s face, the man pointed his finger, then sluggishly got off the high stool with a playful grin, placed a fat hand on Sophie’s shoulder, and spoke with a slurred tongue.
"Hey little one... she’s busy, so you can drink with me instead..."
