Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 950 - 946: No Matter What Happens, Women Always Lose Out
In Hannah Hargrave’s bashful gaze, Nicholas Croft said, "Miss Hargrave, are you referring to the rumor?"
Hannah Hargrave nodded, but before she could say anything, Nicholas Croft smiled meaningfully, "If it’s about that, there’s no need. After all... I’m a man, and no matter what happens, it’s the woman who loses out."
Hannah’s heart and eyes were filled with Nicholas Croft, so she didn’t have the mind to think too much and smiled, "It’s fine as long as you don’t mind,"
After speaking, under Nicholas Croft’s playful gaze, she stood up, "Well, I’ll be going now,"
Hannah thought Nicholas Croft would at least courteously ask her to stay, but he simply said, "Miss Hargrave, take care."
With a smile, she nodded, but after turning around, Hannah couldn’t hide the disappointment on her face.
After Hannah left, Nicholas Croft chuckled and shook his head. He never lacked women throwing themselves at him, but Hannah was indeed the first to be so direct.
After work, back home, Nicholas Croft’s villa was located in a rather secluded area, on the outskirts of the west side of T City, a villa district developed only in recent years. Due to the high prices, many houses still remained vacant.
"Sir, you’re back." Hearing the sound of the door, Auntie Wang came out of the kitchen. Before she could fetch the slippers, Nicholas Croft had already taken them out from the shoe cabinet, tossed them on the tiled floor, took off his leather shoes, and replied, "Go ahead and get busy,"
"Yes, sir, dinner will be ready soon."
Auntie Wang responded and went back to the kitchen.
The villa Nicholas Croft lived in wasn’t very large, a two-story house with less than three hundred square meters. But since it was only him and a maid at home, the space felt quite empty.
He went to his room, changed out of his formal wear, took a shower, and when he returned downstairs, Auntie Wang had already prepared dinner. After dinner, he sat idly on the sofa watching TV for a while, then suddenly stood up and walked toward the stairs. Back in his room, he took a white shirt out of the wardrobe but, thinking again, hung it back and chose a casual hoodie instead. He paired it with a long brown trench coat, and once satisfied with his stylish look in the mirror, he left.
Heaven on Earth is arguably the hottest nightclub in T City.
Upon entering, Nicholas Croft casually glanced at the stage before following the server to a private booth. After ordering drinks, he took a box of cigars from his coat pocket and placed it on the low table in front of him.
A few minutes later, the server returned with a bottle of Hennessy. After setting down the liquor and glasses, he was just about to leave when Nicholas Croft called him back.
"Where’s that singer with the crow’s voice? I want her to sing."
Nicholas’s description left the server momentarily stunned. Holding the tray, he apologized, "Sorry, sir, I’m not sure who you mean?"
Reclining elegantly on the sofa, Nicholas Croft crossed his legs and, with a casual air, said, "The one with purple hair, sings rock."
"Oh, so you mean little Sophie. What song would you like to hear?"
"Anything." His two-word answer was just as nonchalant.
"Alright, please wait a moment."
The server politely withdrew, while Nicholas Croft nonchalantly curled his lips. Girls these days sure know how to choose stage names — they’re as cute as possible.
He picked up the bottle to pour himself some liquor, raised his glass, and leaned sideways on the sofa, gazing toward the stage.
The singer on stage had just finished her song and walked off, as Sophie Foster, with her head of purple hair, stepped onto the stage.
She wore a cropped denim jacket adorned with many studs, a pair of short shorts, and black seamless leather boots. Although Sophie Foster wasn’t particularly tall, her outfit made her appear much more statuesque.
